Hey guys, I have the gt60 w/ 680m. So far my setup is 3730qm, 32gb ram, samsung 840-pro 256gb ssd, 1tb hdd and a few other goodies. So far I'm playing with win8 to see if I like it or not. Running a 4gb ramdisk for temp files along with downloads / torrents to save read/write cycles on the sdd and keep the hdd parked as often as possible. As of now, if I'm not actively watching a movie without preparation, my hdd stays parked and there's almost no writes to the ssd. I had a few programs actively writing logs to the ssd constantly, so they get written into the ramdisk then saved over every hour to the ssd to save writes. Since setting up the ramdisk and keeping things idle I've actually increased battery life a good amount along with a few other tweaks. SO far I love this laptop. I built it for video editing / 3d modeling / 2d modeling for work. Let's me writes projects, then during the day I just transfer the cut paths to my plasma table box and cut away. I may redo the drive setup here pretty soon. I can drop the blueray burner into an external enclosure, so I was thinking of maybe running 2x 1tb hdds in sata3 mode striping for a bit better performance from them.. I haven't decided yet. I still need to helicopter tape the whole laptop to keep it clean.

I should be the first person in the US with a production gt60-0ne-249US. It should be here Friday before 10:30AM... have a samsung 840-pro 256 waiting to be installed when I get it. I was just about to pull the trigger on a y580, but right when I was about to purchase it, I found this laptop. Been waiting for it to get in stock, and thankfully Ken at Gentechpc hooked it up. I have been calling him constantly, and he called me yesterday telling me a few came in today! Gave me the option to get it next day air (to texas) instead of 3 day, so I hopped on it. They came in 10 minutes before their shipment for the day left their warehouse, and they managed to get it out! They had a 4gb upgrade for free (to 16gb), and threw the stick in the box so I can install it here instead of waiting for them to install it. No biggie, I have the ssd waiting for it here. If you need me to get you any information/dumps or anything like that, just let me know or send me a pm! I'm a tinkerer, so I'd love to flash an unlocked bios for the board or gpu. Still reading the threads here. Thank you for the amazing work you all do here.
