I tried the fully unlocked bios on the last page, and with the 3610qm it does unlock everything in the bios. Now granted, I consider myself very familiar with a computer, but I haven't messed around with overclocking before so I am definitely not touching anything without doing my research. Unfortunately though, it just seems to help unlock overclocking the processor. Still no luck with that plus unlocking the gt 650m. Any ideas?

and be carefull,you overlock the memory clock a litte bit to much i think. mine got unstable over +600mhz

today i got my new bigger PSU as well.

bios shows up that it is a 240W PSU.

also now i can hear some strange "buzz/buzzy" sounds from my notebook.

sounds linke the TV´s wenn you lower backlight.....

do i have to worry?

EDIT: okay,forgotten to flash the new open bios with vbios mod. after flashing that the buzz sounds are gone....^^

i dont think you can use the bios without flashing it.

hmmm too bad you didn´t try recovery before you flashed the modded bios with your last mainboard.

i know there was no reason for that....

no risk no fun but i understand that you are scared your insprion will brick again...

we should wait a bit longer, hopefully our bios mod "god´s" () figure out whats the problem.

maybe the voltage from the GPU drop but i think thats the fault of the original bios.

hmm,when you get a refurbished board you may can recover your bios. just try the mothod that olehkh has posted before with original bios

when it works and you can "recover" ,i think you may can use a bios mod.

but thats just an idea don´t try it when you not want

i heard about the key in the bios as well,my old dell has that to. so when i get the inspiron last summer i think they maybe have changed it.

What do you mean with "vidnvyty" ?

I tried the bios directly from Dell (extracted A12 Bios.cap) like you described in your instruction. Didn´t work...

I also tried a bios wich an another user uploaded long time ago on bios-mods.com. Same issue... still bricked.

Whats the trick with this Notebook to get it recovered??!?! I can´t believe that its fully bricked, because bios was working till power loss.

And it seems that the Notebook tries to read from USB, because the LED on the USB Stick flickers one time if i power on through plug and "end" button trick.

i tried now the recovery method that plehkh has written at my own and it works pretty fine

Dear friend, Olehkh didn't do any limit or whatever else into the opened BIOS. it's the totally opened mod.

hmm that is strange... because i tried so manny things and alway get stuck on 1020 mhz gpu coreclock speed. maybe it was a little bit to late yester day. (around 4 AM ) and an i failed

I want to make a small clarification, I'm not from Russia, I'm from Ukraine but it's not important ... more important for me to find out why it was felt that my BIOS version ONLY works with processors 3610M ....

oh i´m sorry, im no expert on this.

some of us think there is another mainboard layout,but i can´t check because all of my friends have the same model like me.

EDIT: okay now i tried a lot of things to overclock. cant find any option for that in the open bios. so i tried software overclocking and nvidia inspector doesnt work for me. i tried serveral power states but none work. only Pstate 0 work. and even if i use a batch file(1100mhz set there), it only increses the clock speed about +135 mhz.

batchfiles are fine

msi afterburner also has its limit at +135mhz.

may i have missed the wrigh option o unlock this in the bios settings??

I have not used videobios from svl7 .... yes, I analyzed it videobios to understand what has been done ... it was not hard ...

at least it would be great if the overclock limit would be remove...

but since we have an unclear probleme with bricked inspiron i think we first should check up this before we rebuild this modded vbios into the bios.

i can put it back into a bios, but i don´t think it helps when the newer models still brick.

and its far above my skills to figure out whats the problem. so we have to wait until the russians or svl7 figure it out.

nope,with the russian open bios the gt 650 is all standart again. 745 mhz and boost works on 835mhz.

i tried to overclock with nvidia inspector. before i was able to get over 1000 mhz. now with the same .bat file i stuck on 970 mhz.

there some fine settings in there i have activated and it stil runs fine

EDIT: i have just seen that there is ja new open russion bios mod with a modded vbios in it. i will test and report if they using yours!

EDIT 2: okay they using another v bios mod! this has a standart of 885 mhz an can bring up to 1020 mhz. also the voltage is changed. before i have 1.0370V maximum and now about 1.0670V

but somehow it throttle down to 400 mhz.... think the russians dont knwo what to do,your bios mod doesnt throttle

EDIT 3: ok,now i have restartet all and so on an now it dont throttle down and just runs fine... strange things happend here.i also ordered another PSU ,maybe it will run much better.....

EDIT4: ok last edit this vbios mod runs very fine, increase my framerate in alot of games. but the gpu here also stuck @ 1020 mhz. even other powerstates not work anymore. the gpu voltage ist most the tome stable @ 1.0870V sometimes drop to 1.0620V

temps are fine. even with this higher voltage and clock it is 3-4 ° cooler then before.

i can say that the bios mod works fine for me.

but users with a 3630QM should be really carefully!!!

Watch out, not necessarily all functions will work. Lower temps is possible, it's a newer bios after all. Maybe different fan speeds etc.

hmm,i also cant find any options for the geforce card. just für the HD4000.

fan speed seems to be the same, but cant say for sure because it just sounds like before.

i also stuck on the 970 mhz speed.... but i thing i will finde a work around

okay i now have flashed the russian open bios mod.

i have the 3610QM model and it work pretty fine with this mod. i also have remove all power supplys for 5 minutes and nothing has bricked.

first think i found out,that i have much lower tempretures on the same CPU/gpu clocks like before with SVL7´s mod. !

they are about 6 degrees lower. isnt that strange? o.O

there are so manny options, i will test a little bit with this "new features".

I'm also from Germany. The PSU is called "PA-9e". Its the OEM PSU from Alienware M17x. Just search on eBay, I bought a refurbished unit for 28€. Please wait till I verify that the plug fits to our 17r SE.

AFAIK you have the i7 3610qm. Can you please check your GPU Voltage on load?

I hope so much that this fixes the voltage drop problem and I can oc to 1200mhz

okay, i now found it official at the delll shop,but they want 120 €.... so i think ebay and refurbished will work fine for me

normaly the gpu has a voltage about 1.037 but on load it drops to 1.0120,why ever....

maybe its the PSU,please report. you can write me a personal message on german

EDIT: are you sure about the PSU? because the original has output: 19,5V / 6,7A and the alienware has 19,5/ 12,3A. im not an electrican,so i don´t wanna damage my notebook with the wrong PSU...

I ordered today a 240W Power Suppy. This should be enough to handle the I7 and overclocked GPU. I hope this fixes the instability issues with GPU. This PSU is used in the Alienware M17x Series :-)

Although i will trie the russian bios mod, seems that its a kind of developer bios. There are all options open. You can even run the RAM with 2133mhz and one user was able to OC to 1200mhz:

i also don´t understand that some guy´s have problems. i dont know about the 3630QM problem,because i have a 3610QM,but i run the modded bios by SVL7 since he released ist and it works pretty good on my notebook. no unstable problems with the 970 mhz clock speed.

i think ist maybe because the notebook is getting to hot.

dell is using really bad heatsink paste... i opened up my inspiron and change it carefully with the arctic MX-4 and now the CPU is about 15 degrees cooler. also the GPU has 6-7 ° less with it. i also using a cooling pad under my notebook(coolermaster notepal U3) and i getting arround 70-72 ° at my GPU and 75-79° CPU(with boost) while i´m playing battlefield 3. the temp´s are stable and doesnt increase,i sometimes play 3-5 hours.

Hey, Used the latest 970 clock bios from svl7. Was good for an hour, untill i shut down the notebook. Now seems to be bricked, wont turn on proper. Only the leds turn on and hd spin for a sec, thats about it. Any tips?

remove battery an ac für a minute anf pres 1 or times the power button.

before the bios mod our GT 650M goes down to 745 mhz an was stock there! so no automaticly downclocking if it is not used.

now it stucks on 970mhz.

temps are ok,after an hour playing i have around 70C° so there is more space 4 overclocking.

the gpu clock still fine goes up to 970 mhz but the memory clock still at 1000. no problem,i could fix it with nvidia inspector,but its strange...

What doest the Russian mod do more? Im affraid with the user who has transform is laptop into a brick lol. And now realzhigan has to remove the ac and battery to make it work again .... doest this new bios mod increase enough performance to be useful ? Well at this moment im more confident to wait the next vbios mod with a base cock set to 970 mhz and 2200 on memory. I usually have good result with 970 on clock with bf3 and max gpu temperature to 76C after 1 hour play. I only change my termical past for artic silver 5 and had a so great improuvement on cpu and gpu temp. before i was reaching 90c. I sill lost my oc and downclock to 745 sometime randomly. im just tied to restart my computer and have to remove ac and battery to fix it .... Thank for all work on the vbios....

I run a couple of time 3d mark with this setting to check stability, clock to 1000 and memory to 2250 mhz and i got p2768 !!! (NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,Dell Inc. score: P2768 3DMarks) wow. Max temp on cpu and gpu was 71c. i think this could be a nice setting for the next vbios mod. I just recommend really artic silver 5 and have something to lift the back of the laptop about 3 inch. Make a huge difference. I just dont understand why it still remove the overclock after a couple of time in bt3 when my max temp was only 76c on the gpu on 1000 mhz clock.... in other forum is was maybe because of the power draw for a few second due to the gpu and cpu boosting at the same time. If i put in power management, processor min state to 100% and max to 100%, doest this will prevent wattage peak and prevent the boost to lock back to 745 ? ill test that now ... let see ...

but i think that the Problem with the clocks (who got back to 835/745) is another problem with the bios.

also the maximum overclocking potential (like by the macbook oder alienware notebooks) up to 1200 MHZ doesnt work too.

if you go higher then 1100 mhz like 1120 mhz a lots of users got a bluescreen.

but first,i think for the next biosmod it is more importent that overclocking like 1000 mhz or higher works stable and doesnt jump back to 835/745 mhz.

slv7 will be make another biosmod, i´m pretty sure about this. BUT he makes a lots of mods here and he did it all in his free time after work or something like that.

Flashed A11.

Then 7720_A11_AES_VBIOS_MOD.zip. After reboot all was just fine. Played WOT for a 3 hours. Then turned off the NB. Next day ND doesn`t turn on. Button led is ok. Fan doesn`t work. Any ideas? How to recover?

pull the battery out,also the AC plug,press the power button,after that put AC back in and be happy

Did I say any BIOS mod isn'n fine? doesn't work? NO. all I said is: there is ONE guy who flashed modded BIOS and got his 7720 bricked. nobody knows what exactly he did but I really think he'll fix it soon.

all I say is: be careful, be ready to flash back the original BIOS, don't be afraid. and try before flashing if you can.

one of those who flashed combined BIOS mod by Serbius from ixbt.com forum has BRICKED his 7720. at the moment, the author and some other guys are trying to find out how did he do that.

i flashed the AES+vBIOS mod BIOS on 3 diffent inspiron 7720 and everything works pretty fine.

I thought I removed it... well I can fix this on the next mod.
