  1. I tried to understand the setup/configuration and the benchmark scores, but after going over and over again, I still have some questions. So, I assume the desire was to use the dGPU for PhysX, and to have Optimus render the eGPU on the iGPU. So what would happen, I mean how would the score look like if you give up Optimus and render the benchmark on the external display connected to the eGPU? Also, I have one idea... What if you disable the dGPU from Device Manager, then start a DirectX demo to engage Optimus between eGPU and iGPU, then re-enable the dGPU for PhysX, start a real game and then you close the DirectX demo? Could that work?
  2. Thanks, but I'm somewhat limited to some 15 and 17 inches notebooks, i want those also for work and running virtual machines. The only somewhat friendly egpu notebook matching my criteria is the Dell Vostro 3560, but I had my hopes set for haswell and up to 32GB RAM. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk 2
  3. I'm looking into buying one of the new Asus G750 which should in theory support thunderbolt, but the Intel integrated graphics card is disabled (not available in BIOS, or Device Manager) and only Nvidia 765m is the active card. Considering this, could you guys see a potential issue with an eGPU connected on some thunderbolt adapter? I understand clearly that Optimus link is possible only in presence of Intel GPU (which is not the case right now) and only on 1x link (again not the case, I understand that TB gives 2x, unless I use the tape hack to isolate a lane). I just want to know if I'm able to render the eGPU on the internal screen which is connected to the dGPU 765m without issues, or there are any problem that I should foresee and take into account. Thanks.
  4. A complicated job to reverse the Lenovo connector, but I assume if someone succeeds this would be the ultimate gaming laptop for the Y510 which features also the Intel HD graphic card.
  5. Where did you found the separate gpu heatsink? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Yes, what about enabling Intel HD 4000? Could that be possible? I'm not looking directly for Optimus (would be nice tho), I don't mind to reboot to switch the active graphics. I'm asking this because enabling Intel graphics (and maybe disabling Nvidia) could be a great way for an External GPU DIY setup.
  7. Hi guys. I hate to stress you out with this Lenovo Y510 thingie, but it seems that besides the custom graphics port for x8 2.0 link, it also includes a M2 (formely known NGFF) slot populated by a tiny SSD (24GB) which should provide an x4 2.0 link (unconfirmed).
  8. I got a couple of questions. Would this Setup 1.x allow me to disable white-listing checks imposed by Lenovo on a laptop like Y510? Not talking only about eGPU, for example I want to use another WiFi card instead of the original one, until a whitelisting modded bios emerges. Also, can I use this program to disable the discrete Nvidia GPU 750M and enable the integrated Intel one? I understand this could be a hardware issue and I could end with nothing displaying on my screen, just asking.
  9. What is a TX/RX Redriver chip? Are you saying that BPlus is making a false claim regarding their new "B" cable? I mean they first had a round cable then later they switched to a flat cable and now they are back at square one. But I thought this "B" cable is actually something new, able to make better connections than the first round version and the flat one. Later edit: -------------------------- I know it was already mentioned somewhere in this thread about Lenovo Y500 ultrabay. Just want to remind everyone that (according to some user reports) it seems the Lenovo Ultrabay is using a 2.0 x8 link for its GPUs. So what exactly is required to match the Ultrabay connector inside the laptop with a standard PCI Express slot?
  10. Hi! From my point of view P151SM suits my needs better than P150SM or P157SM, because is cheaper and right now I don't need a powerful MXM graphics. The only issue I have with this model would be related with the missing backlit keyboard. Would be possible to swap the non lit original keyboard and install an illuminated keyboard from the P150SM model? Also, as a last question, I see the powerbrick for P151SM can provide up to 120W. Is this swapable with the one from P150SM which should provide 180W? Thanks!
  11. Yes, at some points they look similar like the beveled down keyboard, but the problem is the notebook in my example features an expresscard and I've sent them an email and they confirmed the laptop they sell indeed has that expresscard. From all reviews/images on the internet for W350ET none of them mentions/shows an expresscard. So I'm still in doubt.
  12. Hi there. A local notebook integrator from my country is using a Clevo barebone in this laptop which they brand under their trademark/logo. Maguay MyWay E1502i - Gama MyWay - Portabile Maguay - Maguay - Add performance to your business They call it MyWay E1502i, but I want to know the barebone platform behind, so I can get more info on the internet from manuals, reviews, etc. So if anyone can recognise the barebone platform behind, let me know. Thanks in advance!
  13. Apple - Apple Events - WWDC 2013 Keynote At minute 58:00 they talk about the new "Thunderbolt 2" that basically provides 20Gbps throughput.
