Greetings!
I recently purchased an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205, since I was fed up with my laptop's lack of 5GHz support.
After I found out that the Y580 has a whitelist for the network cards, I flashed the 2.xx unlocked BIOS, which @svl7 so gracefully provided in this thread.
The thing is that, afterwards, whenever I tried to ping any server (even my router) I would sometimes get spikes of about 300-600 ms on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, which doesn't occur on my phone on 5GHz, neither does it happen on my laptop's older card or my phone on 2.4GHz.
So, now I'm torn between two possibilities:
1. The wireless card is a dud or my laptop doesn't like that one in particular
2. The BIOS interfere with the connection for some reason(I don't do low-level programming, so I'm not sure if that's even possible)
I just ordered a Intel Wireless-AC 7620 just to see if I can get that one to work, but if it's the BIOS at fault, what can I do so that I don't waste the money I spent on 2 WLAN cards...
