  1. Ok, I will try to narrow down the issue today. I will also try the DisableMonitor app because I've noticed that my macbook is on fire after a gaming session. Not sure if that's because it's powering the internal monitor or just because of the CPU. Thanks again guys!
  2. Ok, sad update unfortunately. I've been running the eGPU setup now for a month thanks to the awesome script that you guys have created. However, just this week Mac OS X (El Capitan) has been crashing anytime I do anything graphics intensive. Whether I play a browser based gamed or Rust via Steam, the game will load and then suddenly crash the whole computer. It reboots to the error message in 5-6 languages in front of a I/O power button image. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the script with and without -a, updated the drivers, I even bought a new graphics card thinking that maybe it had crapped out. I can get the computer to boot and work with my external monitor running from the eGPU but crashes when I play anything. I have also tried lowering the game settings to minimum and it will still crash. At times I can get to the game menu before it crashes. Sometimes it crashes on boot. At first I would be able to boot the game at max settings then I would have to reduce the settings and now it won't load at all sometimes. I have a 2015 Macbook Air with an Akitio thunderbolt case with an Nvidia GTX 970 graphics card running OS X 10.11.3. As I have mentioned, it was working fine when I first set it up with my old graphics card which was the Nvidia GTX 750ti FTW but it slowly began acting unpredictably. I also switched back to the old graphics card and nothing. I have also uninstalled Rust via Steam and removed all local content and then reinstalled. Nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would love to be able to get back to playing again.
  3. Does anyone know a good app or widget to monitor the eGPU temp for an Nvidia 750ti FTW card? Thanks!
  4. "turned off" internal monitor by not mirroring screens, making external the primary by moving the menu bar over the top of the external screen, and then closing the laptop lid. Now everything is moving fast as hell. Thanks again!
  5. Well, I seem to be having another issue. My external monitor is sluggish and the mouse scrolling is too. I have the monitors mirrored right now with the macbook lid closed. But even when I don't have them mirrored the external monitor is still sluggish. Also, I can hear the internal fan on the macbook on while I play video games. So I'm not sure if the iGPU is bogging down the system or having to power both monitors is doing that as well. Any suggestions? I already uninstalled and reinstalled the script with -a and performed all the restarts. Thanks!
  6. I am an idiot. A big stupid idiot. Turns out I didn't have the riser connected to the psu. Graphic card reading fine now. Thank you to everyone on this forum for the help. Cheers!
  7. Damn. Well, I will have to begin to copy over my stuff to my back up drive and perform a clean install. But just to clarify, restoring from a recent back up won't fix the kext issue, correct? Thanks again for all your help! Wife is leaving to visit a family member for a week so I definitely want to get this working in order to play Rust!
  8. FileVault is off but I did edit a kext file a couple of months ago. Specifically a kext called osx-pl2303.kext in order to control a telescope mount from my computer using an RS-232 to USB adapter. I still have the file that I used and I implemented it using kextdrop. Does this mean I will have to do a clean install of OS X? I tried the first line in Terminal and it didn't do anything after I hit enter. The second kext command returned this: USER-Air:~ USER$ kextstat -l | grep NVDA 131 2 0xffffff7f80f04000 0x2e4000 0x2e4000 com.nvidia.web.NVDAResmanWeb (10.0.9) 5E633570-243D-3CBA-92AC-77A33DF8CF05 <102 98 94 12 7 5 4 3 1> 140 0 0xffffff7f811f7000 0x1ff000 0x1ff000 com.nvidia.web.NVDAGM100HalWeb (10.0.9) D3E0FD94-828C-3FCD-967D-6378BE9D9DF2 <131 12 4 3>
  9. I uninstalled everything again and ran it consecutively at home. I am using the Akitio Thunder 2 box, the NVIDIA GTX 750ti, and a 500W psu. The laptop is connected via HDMI to my 40" television from the eGPU. System Report still states my eGPU as an NVIDIA Chip Model on a PCIe bus. The television is not receiving any signal whatsoever. The Display settings do not detect another screen. Here is the install I did through Terminal. 10. Hey goalque!! Thank you so much for all of your work and for replying! I tried the "-a" command and it still reads as a generic NVIDIA GPU under System. I ran the uninstall command, restarted the Mac, then reinstalled it, then ran the automatic mode again. Still nada. Any other tips? Also are you taking donations for all your hard work?
  11. Hello, I've run the script and got a successful response. However, my 2015 Macbook Air running 10.11.3 detects a generic NVIDIA GPU instead of the 750 ti that is connected. Also, external monitor is not responding or being detected by the computer. The script ran successfully and I re-ran it and got the below confirmation. What am I doing wrong?
