  1. I think you Should ask for help in the "Apple egpu Thread" in my case the Problem was the Radeon, but yours Sound like my issue you got Another gpu ? I tested it first with an gtx 480.
  2. Update: Now i have tested it with the GTX 970 and its like the GTX 480 it Works pretty stable!
  3. UPDATE: THE AKITIO BOX WILL NOT WORK STABLE WITH THE RADEON R9 390X!!! go with NVIDIA !
  4. Now i have tested the GTX 480 with the Akitiobox. And what shall i say @Morv was totaly correct. With an Nvidia GPU there was no more issue with instability. I installed an additional Nvidia Driver to the existing amd driver. And connected it the external Monitor. Everything good so far. I will now test it with the GTX 970 and games that require a little more Power than Payday 2. @Morv & @Dschijn thank you guys 4 your amazing help & time.
  5. i dont have testet the gtx 480 yet. But like i said, Akitio will only boot with the Barrel Plug. Also i have no idea if i can go and install an additional GPU driver to the AMD driver from apple.
  6. http://www.pic-upload.de/view-30279528/IMG_1554.jpg.html This is with an GTX 480 just to test. I can switch this with 390x and GTX 970
  7. @Dschijn 100% Sure without the Barrel the egpu wont start up. The blue indicator lights only shows that its running when i plugged the Barrelplug in the Aktito
  8. Macbook Pro 2015 M370x eGPU: MSI Radeon R9 390x https://de.msi.com/Graphics-card/R9-390X-GAMING-8G.html#hero-overview Box: Aktiito 2 TB2 PSU: Enermax MaxRevo 1350W http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_1&lv0=1&lv1=43&no=158 Monitor: Asus vg236h I Soldered the original Barrel Plug from the Akitio Case to the Molex directly to the Enermax PSU. Sorry but what you mean with the "Power Riser" ? you mean the Barrel Plug to the Enermax PSU? The Akitio will not Power On withouth the Barrel/Molex. Also i have an GTX 970 in my Mac Pro. I can use this to test if the problem still exist with the Aktitiobox. @Morv can you tell my how i have to handle this because you have installed the Radeon Driver by default from Apple. I dont think it is nice to have 2 GPU Drivers on one System?
  9.

Hi goalque, @Morv told me i can ask you for help with my Macbook Mid 2015 radeon 370x / 390x egpu Setup. I use them with the Akitiobox and it looks like that it works fine on external Monitor. But after random Time the whole System crashes. My Macbook Screen gets Black and windows Crashes with blackscreen. You have any suggestions about my issue?

  10. This means i should go back to the original Aktitio PSU instead of Soldering it directly to the 1350W PSU?
  11. I have an old 1350W PSU and the Barrel is soldered to an Molex Pin that is connected to the PSU. Akitio is crashing also in idle as under load but there is no specific time. Sometimes i can play 2 Hours. Sometimes it crashes after 30 sek. The Display went black and i have to shutdown the mac manuelly by hittin the Power Key
  12. Update: I have installed my Windows 10 via boot camp i will perform a efi native install tomorrow, anyone has an actual link for an efi install with windows 10 for my macbook 2015 retina?
  13. Nice, you got a Link to this Thread ? Where i Can find an efi Tutorial or at lest Link to the switchgpu efi ? Thx
  14. Update: I switched now to Windows 10, the instability in OS is gone, it depends now from what game you play. I played Witcher 3 yesterday for 3 hours on high settings with fps – 70 and no issues at all. Then i try Rome II Total War. I started the game and everything looks nice and smooth but as soon as the battle begins i get crashing game / os. I will update the driver to the newest beta and tell you how it runs with it.
  15. Update: Now i have an error Code 12 on Windows 8.1 it looks like this is the Reason for instability of the System
  16. Hi, im new to this forum I have an Macbook Pro 2015 mid with dgpu R9 370x I have purchased the Akitio Thunder 2 Box with an Radeon R9 390x to avoid driver issues. The System works fine (no boot problems) i can Boot trough Windows 8.1 with no problems. I started Benchmarking with Firestrike and got 9900 Points out of it (on 1920x1080 default Settings) The System will run nice and smoothe till round about 10 minuets. Than the System randomly Crash with Blackscreen the Fans go on and all i can do is to shutdown the Mbpr by Pressing the Shutdown Key. Anyone here with same experience as mine who can help to improve the stability of my System? Also i have read about the DiY e-GPU Setup by Nando, is this something thats good for my System? And there was a thread about EFI boot options with refind is this neccessarly for my Setup ? Thanks 4 your Help If you got some questions or suggestions feel free to ask / answer Edit: Is there a way to run this setup on internal screen? I have read that the only chance to do this is with non dgpu retina macbooks that support optimus? Edit2: The eGPU Setup is powering on via Thunderbolt there is no need to boot it manually, that means you Power on your PSU that is connected to the egpu Box with R9 390x and then you start your mac and the egpu is starting too. No Problems to boot to Windows, also no problems to boot in OS X but in OS X the GPU is not detectet by Systemprofiler it detect the Akitio but nothing more.
