  1. Will give it a try, hopefully we can hit 6K (we are only 204 points apart)
  2. Dream Theater, Metropolis Pt2 - Home pt1,pt2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpTlr1UnJJE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q5vyw6l8No
  3. Yeah that's the plan, and it will be interesting to see how well can a modded R3 (with some serious GPU overclock and possibly a CPU retention mod-I don't know yet about OC) can stand next to my modded R2. I am also interested about the SSD performance on the R3 so we gonna have some testings done as soon as we find an SSD to install.
  4. Thanks, yeah give it a try and tell us know if you saw any improvements.
  5. yeah right now I am with only the 2 screws, but every time I was tightening them a bit further I was wondering when I would hear the crack...
  6. SOAD - Chop suey (video a favorite movie of mine, Equilibrium) - I am not sure you can see it from outside the States (I would use a free proxy just to see the video).
  7. Well any extra pressure on the die, makes it equally dangerous to the retention mod.
  8. Given the opportunity I will explain my point of view on that matter. The reason we use thermal paste and we don't apply the copper directly to the CPU die is because the surfaces are not completely flat so they don't make perfect contact, therefore we don't have the maximum heat transfer, thermal paste fills those gaps, but if we add an extra layer of copper between the CPU die and the heatsink, for the reason mentioned above we would have to apply an extra layer of thermal paste between the copper and the heatsink, the more the gaps we have to fill and the more the thermal paste we apply, the less heat we dissipate, so it wont be that efficient compared to the retention mod with only the absolutely necessary amount of thermal paste between them which is only one layer. (as a general note, excessive amount of thermal paste will increase the temperatures instead of lowering them, it is there to fill the gaps, not to replace the metal contact) What would be more efficient to do, is to somehow channel the heat to the chassis of the laptop since it is from aluminum, or I was also thinking to apply thermal pads between the heatsink and the magnesium cover (there is a point that those two are almost touching each other).
  9. For me, my all time favorites game is Grim Fandago, then it's HalfLife2 and then come all the rest, but yeah ME2 is in the top5 (can very well be #3)
  10. ...and I approve this message you know though, music like that when driving is a recipe for disaster (i.e speeding tickets LOL)
  11. Not that great actually, the retention mod doesn't last for long I might have to redo it in a couple of weeks... I was shocked when I saw how fast the temperatures exceeded 100C... the wprime 1024m run was right after I had performed the retention mod with room temperatures, the superpi with external cooling
  12. wprime 1024m in 229.164 sec (world record for mobile CPU???) stamatisx's 3min 49sec 164ms wPrime 1024m run with Core i7 940XM @ 3579MHz SuperPi in 9.953 sec
  13. i will use this quote if I ever decide to sell my R2 LOL (I will leave the shower part out though LOL)
  14. Me too!!! It's on the wish list atm....
  15. Wow this game is so addictive... Brian you were right, it is indeed really good, at first I wasn't that excited but after a couple of hours I couldn't press the escape button.
  16. Anything that confirms the rumors will hurt the R3 sales so I don't expect anything official. Btw, did anybody search wikileaks? :P
  17. Post the song that you are enjoying at the moment Ayreon - ride the comet
  18. This is what I did to get the maximum performance out of my SSD (finally....) You need the latest version of ThrottleStop, to perform a registry mod and an extreme CPU () like i7 920XM or 940XM if you don't want to loose the Turbo boost functionality. Results ---no tweaks----only ppm------ppm+TS--- ThrottleStop settings With this mod, as you can see I gained 2MB/s reads and 13MB/s writes compared to applying only the registry mod and 7MB/s on reads and 39MB/s !!!! on writes with reg mod + TS applied compared to stock settings. That's a very noticeable improvement. The only problem is the temperatures, I am with the retention mod and still as you can see from the TS screenshot I get 70C+ easily... but I am constantly at 3.5GHz on all 4 cores .
  19. come on... I just formatted mine...I will grub one from Costco :P LOL
  20. Nice!! at least you get some good performance without sacrificing the power saving features.
  21. My multipliers are fixed on all 4 cores, they don't fluctuate at all (unless the CPU gets very hot where they start dropping to keep it cool) I am right now on 26x on all of them, no turbo boost for me either (It's like I am having turbo boost on all 4 cores at the same time constantly)
  22. great! I am tempted to sneak peak on the draft but I will wait
