  1. Thanks. I'll have to look at clevo a bit more. I thought I'd heard ASUS used whitelists too, but after some searching that seems not to be the case.
  2. I'm going to be in the market for a new laptop this coming year and have a bit of a sour taste from Lenovo's WLAN whitelists... Which manufactures do NOT use this type of practice and allow upgrading of hardware?
  3. Did you use the official bios or modified?
  4. They're one of the early sites that did "pay what you want" deals. They tend to sell 4ish games for whatever you want to pay, and have bonus games that you get if you pay over the average (or some specific dollar amount). Nice part is they usually offer direct download or torrents of the games for windows/linux/mac and also steam keys. They used to be random indie games, but they now do "themed" sales. Seems the current ones is NeoGeo themed... Only a few of the current games come with steam keys. Not sure if it's kosher but here is a link... https://www.humblebundle.com/ (mods feel free to remove as needed....) Seems they have a normal store now too... only ever bought one of the bundles myself. They used to only happen once ever few months, but there is almost always one going on now.
  5. 113 Way too many... I only play one or two of those at a time, but there are probaly 50 that I go back to every few months. A bunch of the games came from humblebundle purchases where I wanted 1 of the games but got 7.
  6. Does anyone have experience with system 76 laptops? I exclusively use linux and am interested in their laptops for something that will be well supported and upgradable, though I only see one mention anywhere on these forums. Thanks.
  7. I'm in the same boat Scrouge. Finally upgrading to 802.11ac on the home network, but can't use a perfectly serviceable laptop on it... Also, it seems the 5 post rule is no longer in effect. Here is what it says in the stickey above. New user account promotion system that views your level of quality activity on these forums over a span of 1 week. Once you have sufficient activity over this week, your account is flagged for moderator review. At that time you either get promoted or don't.
  8. It seems that the only way to put an 802.11ac card in a y480 is by installing a bios without the whitelist. Is that still correct?
