  1. @hugh The tapatalk app doesn't show me signatures (iPhone), are you planning to use ATX or DA-2 for power? If DA-2, I'd say GTX680 seems to be highest rated card within 220W limit. I'm testing the GTX 970 atm to see if it also stays within the power limitations.
  2. @hamaki55 Hmm I can't see the picture you linked so I'm not sure which number you're referring to
  3. @gothic860 Thanks buddy! I guess one could describe 3DMARK13 more as torture than gaming? I only say ~120-130W during the Borderlands 2 test if I recall correctly. Anyway, this feels a bit uncomfortable to me since I'm all about performance / watt and I really thought that the GTX 970 was a ~150W TDP card. I might have to return my card and buy something less beefy like the GTX960 or so, dammit...
  4. Hi guys. Just wanted to share some performance info from my newly arrived Zotac GTX 970. 3DMARK06: GPU: 21049 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3740QM Processor,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G46VW 3DMARK11: GPU: 10980 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3740QM Processor,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G46VW 3DMARK Vant: crashed right in the beginning of CPU test 2 (which seems to be a bug), anyone familiar with this please help me! 3DMARK13: 'hard crashes' right after the wing suit demo (she enters the cave), right now I'm investigating if my DA-2 (custom cabling) is to weak on some 12V rail since it indicates on overload. I did measure up to 175W (!!!) in 3DMARK13, which makes me think all this "146W TDP talk" is waaay off. Ran Borderlands 2 for ~20min for a test: 1080P, Physx = High, no significant slow downs / fps drops! This game has been unplayable with my GTX 670 with Physx above low.
  5. @Brom Weird as it sounds I think the USB is a low powered one (drawing power straight from the EC/mPCIe bus), even though it should be down converted from the main power rail. Have you tested a thumb drive or some other low power devices?
  6. @hamaki56 That's OK buddy, I don't have any controller right below the thunderbolt controller either. I think you're good Are able to test it before returning it?
  7. I had some trouble getting it recognized a the start. I think I hotplugged during boot up to make it recognized. Are you using UEFI Win8.1?
  8. @jjmuffins Nope, you won't get higher bandwidth than 1.2 (5Gbps) using EC / mPCIe. The V7 is prepared to some more interfaces as the M2, maybe even thunderbolt via an extra board, not sure about the details about the latter though.
  9. @I7ocHoliday Who are you replying? I didn't find the original post about VR. Thanks! Edit: I do think VR has a great future in compact setups as the eGPU
  10. Yeah there is a lot of confusion right now =) Hopefully we can find out if a powered riser can do the job (w/o the AC-adapter) for powering both daughter board and x16 slot. If that works that would mean that we don't need two power sources for the enclosure, which mean we will have one common ground = stability.
  11. @JimJ740 Good because I really didn't mean to, it's important to share as much information as possible. In the EXP GDC V6 thread there has been incidents where people been shorting out stuff due to reverse polarity so I really see what you're saying. I made my order for the thunder2 box today and I have to wait till the 7th for shipping and then some x days for delivery
  12. Thanks buddy, let's hope that it can be properly powered from the x16 slot, that would make me happy
  13. Jesus, I just wanted to know if the board could be back powered by the riser or if there were any diodes ruining the fun for us (my thundertek PX board works like this). I'm an engineer too and I understand the risks when elaborating with power. No disrespect intended.
  14. Sorry for coming late into the discussion, I guess you've already tested powering the board with riser only, and it gave you instability? My plan is change the 5.5/2.5mm input jack for a high current one, such as the PJ080, then route my power to the board, x16 connector and GPU (three splits). I was hoping that the x16 connector would allow back-current so I could skip the 'board split'.
  15. I always use the free standard reaolutions ~720p. It's gonna be awesome seeing some gaming on that little beast!
  16. Anyone know the best place of ordering the AKitio in Europe? It's seems like they like to direct convert USD to EUR :S For instance $265 Akitio Thunder2 box (US) = €265 in Europe... facepalm
  17. @arclord The GPU score of 3Dmark11 seems pretty good right? Oh, and nice work with the enclosure buddy!
  18. @davide445 No problem, just FYI you could have used this for the 6-pin: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8pin-To-6Pin...item20e55281bd - - - Updated - - - Hi buddy! Sorry, can't really say. You should try posting the question in the eGPU 2.0 thread since it relates to all eGPU adapters.
  19. Not sure what pictures you been looking at, but the complete package includes 6p -> 6p+[6+2]p What are you looking for, 2x 8 pin? Use this for the 6-pin: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8pin-To-6Pin-6p-PCI-Express-graphics-Video-Display-Card-Power-socket-18AWG-Cable-/141286343101?pt=US_Power_Cables_Connectors&hash=item20e55281bd
  20. @davide445 Speed is the same between PE4C and V6.0 via mPCIe or EC, y-splitter cable is included in the $99"complete package" from youbuy. I have not had any problems with any exp gdc's stop working, quality seems fine. The upcoming V6.0 and V7.0 metallic enclosure will house ~29CM card lengths, which looks awesome to me!
  21. Hi buddy, No, sorry he didn't say when, but I don't think it'll take long since it's minor changes to the design. Welcome to the EXP GDC -user's lounge! EDIT: I'll of course of update you with news as they come to me. - - - Updated - - - Hi c22. I think it'll work, the GTX970 wants ~150W. It's a male to male cable right? The extra 2-pin (both GND) is often just routed from the existing 6-pin GND's. Can you post the link to the cable?
  22. Yeah, mee too! Can't wait to build a setup with this enclosure
  23. I think the best way is to keep the 780 till you know for sure that the Zotac will work. Regarding the Inno 3D, I think that measurement is w/o bracket included, I've spent some time looking at the images and 215mm + 12mm makes sense.
