  1. Whow whow hey! Why is the PE4C $180 at checkout? Not really in the EXP GDC $99 price range.
  2. So then the only feasible way is to obtain TB2 would be to modify a REV 1.2 / 2.2 from TB1 chip to TB2 then I guess, if the other 50 components are compatible with the new TB2 chip of course. Sounds like that would require a pair of steady hands =)
  3. @dakwan Hehe even if it would be possible, my soldering skills wouldn't be good enough.
  4. @phillofoc On the 2570p I'd say you have about 3mm clearance between back cover and heatsink. Any idea of the height of that adapter?
  5. @Darkpower Hi buddy, welcome to the thread! Read this post for comparison.
  6. @ha1o2surfer Thanks buddy! I know these questions can be seen as extremely basic, but when troubleshooting there is nothing more valuable than to be able to compare to a healthy/functional system. Yeah the monitor 'not attached' error is something I stumble upon, maybe my external monitor is the problem here(?).
  7. @Tech Inferno Fan Well there is also this, replacing the current TB1 chip for a TB2? You're the only one I know that has the skills to do this I think =)
  8. No problem buddy! I'm not so sure about my theory but will check my mobo this weekend to see if I can find some clues.
  9. @dakwan As you can see the REV 2.3 has a controller chip right under the displayport, where the REV 1.0 has not. This could be the tb controller. I'm going to add a mSATA on the G46VW next week, so I can check this at the same time.
  10. Hi! This is my strongest bet so far for a TB enabled rev. 2.3 mobo: G55VW MAIN BOARD 69N0MKM12D11P 60 NB7MB1200 D11 50% off shipping 100% test 45 days warranty-in Motherboards from Electronics on Aliexpress.com I'd ask the seller if it has thunderbolt or not! Report back what he says! EDIT: Here is a rev. 2.2 too: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-asus-G55V-G55VW-REV-2-2-motherboard-mainboard-100-stock-100-Tested-warranty-30-days/1475539926.html
  11. @hatoblue Re-flowing the CPU socket? Holy shit! Yeah you should probably send it in, I guess you're allowed to change CPU w/o losing warranty? If so you could tell them exactly what the problem is.
  12. Yeah agree, I think that was the public excuse.
  13. Yes, the TH05 was pulled due to regulations by Intel. I think one of the regulations was that such PCB must be sold in an enclosure.
  14. @hatoblue have used three different CPU's w/o notice that behavior. I'm pretty sure your CPU is defective
  15. @ha1o2surfer Finally got my riser yesterday but ran into problems (thought I had this down after 2+ years of eGPU implementations)! I power my PX-pcb with sufficient amps (via 5.5/2.5mm) w/o a powered riser, and the GTX670 with sufficient amps, all from a 220W source that has been running this card flawlessly with my EXP GDC and PE4L. The problem seems to be in the nvidia driver installation process, all my GPU's are visible w/o errors in device manager, still when trying to open up NCP I get something like 'no monitor attached to the GPU' and no go. I have a few questions for my troubleshooting: in order to engage optimus did you only have the eGPU connected/powered at boot-up, or did you have to disable the port for 660m in device manager? "if booted up with the eGPU plugged in, optimus is enabled for it" Do you have any problems running the iGPU + dGPU + eGPU at the same time (of course no optimus here) to engage eGPU for external screen usage? "you plug in the eGPU after windows is booted you just get a third GPU" Could you make a walk-through of your driver and eGPU installation process? EDIT: It seems like question no. 3 is the only one I'd like you to answer. Thanks a lot, I know you're busy man!
  16. I'd like to see more users write a system spec in their sign even if your eGPU setup isn't up and running yet. It makes everything so much easier when it comes to answering questions. It's also great in situations where me or someone else has an idea targeting a specific hardware or system. You are of course free to copy my sign layout (if you'd like) and write WIP (work in progress) in the beginning if your setup isn't finished yet. Thanks guys, I love you!
  17. "since newer drivers no longer engage the x1 pci-e compression. Notice the loss of 3dmark11 performance with the 340.43->306.97 downgrade." I guess this only applies for the old 4500MHD? Too bad we haven't figure out how the optimus compression is implemented in SW. @Tech Inferno Fan
  18. @dakwan I'm positive there are TB versions of the G55VW too, a fast google gave me this: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?42701-G55VW-DH71-Thunderboldt-and-USB3-will-not-work-at-the-same-time! I'll investigate further tomorrow, watching soccer world cup atm EDIT: By the way, how can you be sure don't already have TB in your "displayport" (the port itself don't have a TB logo)? I found some entries in BIOS (even before unlocked BIOS) that stated thunderbolt delay time and such. If I where you I'd go to a mac-store and ask to test a thunderbolt display (works plug n play w/o downloading any drivers), that's what I did first thing to be sure.
  19. @hatoblue I guess you already tested removing the battery and holding the power for a couple of sec?
  20. Oh now I see, apology accepted I always assume there is a misunderstanding or explanation for situations like this. @slawek sorry for hijacking your thread!
  21. @DigitalFubar "your a prime example" I'm not really sure if you're insulting me or someone else right now, but I guess it's me. Prime example for what? "and for your infor resolution is different than fps" Again, why are you insulting me? The title implies low fps on normal resolutions (1080p), I think as @Uftherr said the game is easily eating 2GB+ VRAM on high settings.
  22. @hatoblue I actually have made a SATA caddy with a genuine 2570p faceplate that I'm now selling. If you're interested of this just send a PM! Edit: 90% of caddys described to fit our system does not. Look at the faceplate of the item you linked for instance and compare it to yours. It's flat and will not fit.
  23. Wow that's a real dick move! I can't believe they underestimate PC users ability to figure out this kind of nonsense. Thanks for shedding light on this.
  24. @DigitalFubar So you're saying increased graphics will resolve his low fps problems? Did they make it unoptimized/heavier by a setting?
