  1. Yeah I'm pretty much stuck at the moment. I'm using a 560ti with a rMBP and a Mercury Helios. I've managed to get the GPU to show up in Win 7 x64 with no errors whatsoever and have also managed to install the drivers without a hitch. The problem I have is my external display continues to display a cable not connected image even after Win 7 boots up and the eGPU is connected. I've confirmed that the display works with my other laptop and have confirmed that the DVI-VGA adapter works using my desktop (where the card was originally installed). When I try to open the Nvidia Control Panel it throws up an error which tells me that the GPU isn't connected to a display for some strange reason. Any ideas? Thanks for replying!
  2. Hey borealiss, I've set everything up and I've confirmed that it works with a few hitches. I've tried running the setup with a 560ti and a 7950 and both GPUs were connected to an external display via DVI to VGA (adapter confirmed to work). The problems I have are my 560ti doesn't output to an external display, instead is tells me that the 560ti isn't connected to any external display when I try to open the Nvidia control panel; and I can't get rid of error 12 no matter what I try when the 7950 is connected (compaction, your work around etc). I've confirmed that the display works perfectly with another laptop so it can't be the display. Other info: Mercury Helios (works) Win 7 x64 rMBP
  3. Has anyone managed to run an external monitor using a Nvidia card and a DVI-VGA adapter?
  4. Thanks for the info, I'm going to try it your way. From what I understand though you did as marked in the attachment, but what about the ones marked with an "x"? Where did you connect them on your PSU?
  5. Hey a little help needed. How did you manage this? I'm currently using the OWC Helios with an HD7950, rMBP and a 650w PSU which provides 53A on the 12v rail and I'm pretty sure I have the same problem. When I plug the Helios into to rMBP the fans on the HD7950 spin up but it doesn't show up in Device Manager. The Helios provides about 90w along the PCIe connection and I've confirmed that the HD 7950 is using that power by noticing that the fans on the card still spin after disconnecting the card from my 650w PSU.*edit - Forgot to mention that if I plug in the Helios and GPU before Win 7 boots up it hangs; had the same issue with Win 8. When I plug in the Helios without the GPU an entry in Device Manager shows up under the name "Thunderbolt" and states that there are no drivers installed. Pics on Imgur because T|I isn't letting me upload them for some strange reason. http://imgur.com/SChSVfw,WsPBNsS

Thanks!
  7. I would love to buy one and test it but at $162 it is a bit much to drop on something that may not work. Anyone else vying to buy this and test it?
  8. Sorry, I missed the eSata part. Anyway we only have to wait till about August if BPlus really does release the TH04. I have already purchased the OWC Helios though and am waiting for a nice Haswell thin and light that offers Thunderbolt.
  9. I believe you have already asked that question. The basic answer is no, DP only carries A/V.
  10. Unfortunately no, BPlus was the only company offering just the board. I've just purchased an OWC Helios and as soon as it arrives I'll be testing it with my 7950, I'll let you guys know how that goes.
  11. Hey guys have a question. Will a 203w Xbox PSU run a 7950? According to this the max power the card I've set my sights on draws is 188w but I'm a bit new to the way PSUs handle power draw so I have no idea whether it'll work properly. Any thoughts? If anyone has the link to the guide for making the Xbox PSU smaller could you give it to me? I can't seem to find it anymore...
  12. Congrats on getting the thread over! Looks like this place is going to get a lot livelier
  13. Its true that the game gets old really fast without mods......I was sucked in for about a week before I started wondering what I was actually working for Another problem with the game is its written in Java and not optimized so it hogs resources. It is getting a little better with every update but wait till 2.0 if you want a proper gaming experience and not just a mining sandbox (even though it was meant to be one).
