thanks a lot. It help in my laptop.

but now I have new problem and need to look on forum I same one have that problem and there I answer for that.

in short I don't have spikers or jack (audio)

You need to download and install this driver from dell website(its the correct drivers + software which you need for the audio jacks to work properly):

    http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=G340X

And also as @J95 mentioned previously make sure DSE is disabled before AND after installation, otherwise the software will disappear again once you update!

  2. @J95 thanks a bunch for pointing me to  Swick1981's unlocked bios and throttling workaround!:frantics:

Just worth mentioning for whoever is reading this thread and having throttle issues on M18xR2, the "GFX switching" (using unlocked bios) on cold boot ACTUALLY works wonders!

Things haven't ran this smooth since the day I bought my machine

Not to mention all the priceless tweaks unlocked :D

The beast is back :super: (M18xR2)

    thanks again to @Swick1981 , @Prema & @J95

I am confused on the highlighted (red) text, and what does "cmd (Admin)" mean?  Are you saying to go into safe mode & disable the driver signing?  what is cmd (admin) is that something I need to type in?  If so where does that get typed in?  Or am I typing in the ---  bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy ---  somewhere?  and if so where do i type that line in?

the rest of it, I think I have an understanding of.  Sorry for my complete lack of knowledge on this subject, but just trying to clarify what it is I am doing and where I am doing it :)

Looking for some help with upgrading a AW m17x R3 system gpu (560m) to a 680m gpu.  Bios is updated to A12, OS is Windows 10.  I've read through this string, but want to make sure I get the right inf file for this upgrade.  The 680m is being delivered in the next few days and want to have everything I need when it arrives.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    thanks

Hey buddy regarding the "red text" and prepping for driver installation its basically command lines u can use in cmd to get windows in the correct state prior.

Another method If u are unfamiliar is to hold shift key while pressing restart. it should get u to the menu where u choose advanced startup option. And then "disable diver signature" by pressing the correspondent number, 7 I believe. Hope this helps. U can always Google for a better guide :)

  4. Hey guys. I need some advice/help :)
Currently using driver v365.19 on Win10 UFEI boot on my M18xR2. Gtx980ms have premas vbios mod v2. Only noticed the rare throttle here and there. Until I accidentally let it run and drain on battery. Now benching is impossible and games are near unplayable!

I've tried running DDU and reinstalling drivers but no change. As I remember from long time ago as advised by @J95 there was a way to flush the cards or something to get rid of a 'fail-safe' that might be in place causing this nightmarish throttle. Unfortunately don't remember how I did this previously :/

    Any help would be appreciated

Wanted to post an update on the M18XR2, I'm currently using the latest graphics driver provided by @J95 and I am using the new bios mod provided by @Swick1981 I changed over to Windows 7 64 bit, am running SVL vbios, and am not using the PEG Mod (nvidia inspector). Zero Throttle on Catzilla and my FFXIV benchmark where as I was seeing alot of it in Windows 10. I am running a 980m I bought from Woodstacks over at Notebookreview.

Hey buddy just wanted to ask how you went about flashing the BIOS? I looked on the thread and there was no guide for a noob like me lol... Do you need to take the 980 cards out?

  6. Guys so I recently updated to geforce 364.51 @J95mod and updated both vbios to @Premav2. Everything running smooth except now my touchpad keeps freezing while making a beep sound through speakers and sometimes PC wakes up to a black screen from sleep!

I have uninstalled Windows updates which was the only other changes made to Windows recently. Can this issue be caused by graphics driver!? Has anyone faced this problem? Or know how to identify and fix the problem. All articles online are irrelevant to my M18xR2 setup.

Unfortunately I won't be able to try this out until next week when I'm back home! What's this HF driver fix anyway. I haven't had any problems using the your earlier 359 mod. So far so smooth sailing :)

  9. Might try them again later with those instructions and see what happens. If they work afterwards then perfect as ive been stuck with the 350.12 drivers for ages since newer ones over the summer would cause my poor M18xR2 to not always boot the screen once the windows loading screen passed. :C

Derpy question but which post is it btw do you know? X_X

I dont remember which page its on but heres the screenshot i saved as a quide incase i ever forget LOL.

Just follow the standard instructions, then make sure your extracted GeForce driver has only the same folders as the screenshot below (all credits to @J95).

By the way i'd stay away from GFE in general. Does nothing useful!

  10. Tried the 359 drivers myself. Seemed to work fine but was getting throttle spikes while playing FFXIV :C. Only using stock rates as well I dont overclock at all. Ah well back to 350.12 again......

I had the same problem as you. I followed @J95 instructions a few pages back and then reinstalled the same driver and worked flawless! There's only 5 or 6 folders you keep in the extracted driver folder and delete the rest SPECIALLY GF Experience. Look through this forum if you sorry I can't remember the exact process

Awesome thanks! Ok so i tried running Fallout 4 with both your driver Mod+ Updated game profile and then with the new driver 358.91... The game itself runs fine with everything maxed out however one of 980ms seems to be having a coffee break while game is running :59:lol. Does this mean the driver or game profile isnt actually SLi ready for this game or something else i need to tweak? btw Ive been following your guide and previously updating game profiles fixed it, though not this time. just curious :)

  12. OMG! How/where do u update ur game profiles?! U know what never mind, just keep them coming [emoji14]

Quick question your new game profiles includes support for the games mentioned in the new geForce driver right? No need to update to the shitty new driver?!

P.s. once again love your work and quick snappy updates! Will be shouting you a beer or two :) (now where's that donate button??)

  13. Yep using your new 353.00 driver. Might revert to 356 I was using prior to see if it changes anything. I never use DSR or GFE, they all rubbish and only cause problems lol

Mmm... My machine has been away from dirt and dust and it looks clean from outside. Should I still open it up and check? I installed my card properly under 3months ago and up til now didn't have any heating problems. Do you still think it could be the thermal paste?

I'll play around with the drivers 1st. Id really rather play my games for once than open up the guts and play doctor with my laptop haha

    --update--

in case anyone else has the same issue!

Ran DDU then reinstalled driver v353.00 [J95 mod]. HWiNFO shows Max GPU temps @78 while gaming I noticed it lingering around 75max during intense sections and lowering to 69-70 which is almost 10° lower than before. Interestingly I also noted that one GPU was reaching Max clock speeds and heating up much faster while other seemed to be running at lower clocks ( almost as if not utilised for SLi).

Now they both share the same load/ clock speed.

    Hopefully it remains stable.

  14. hello my friends! i kind of having a problem with 980m cards. my games are crashing at a frequent rate. like about every half hour. just closing.. no error report, nothing :/ any ideas how to fix this?

    (using 2x 980m SLI in a m18x r2 laptop with 353.00 throttling fix driver from j95)

More detail please. What setup are you running? Which version of windows? Did you import game profiles? And have you noticed high GPU/CPU temperatures ?

Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk

  15. 353.00 installed?

Increased GPU temperature is normal (1127/2505), although 79-80 is pretty high...probably hitting +85C (548mhz), check for dust clogging your heatsink fins/vents...including thermal pad layout, poor contact between GPU die & heatsink.

HWiNFO max reported gpu temperature and voltage...screenshot?

    Avoid DSR, use AA instead.

  16. Hey guys I came across a weird issue last night. After gaming for just under 2hrs I noticed my fans going really loud. Upon checking I noticed my GPUs were heating up to 79-80 mark! They never get this hot while running games alone. Tbh the hottest I've seen themnget before was 74-75 and that was intensive benchmarking. Strangely though both GPUs indicating only 548mhz usage but no drop in performance or fps.

I find this very odd as usually in game they both run at 1126mhz. Unless throttling in which case it would affect performance severely and drop the fps.

Can anyone shed some light on this please? The GPU usage so low and the temps that high don't add up :$

I haven't changed drivers and been using the same set up all along. Tried with different games to see if it was specific to one but all the same.
