1. Hi vaques, Yes, next to the memory modules, just unplug the 2 A and B cables, unscrew the wifi card, remove it and plug the mpcie cable instead
2. I fixed the issue... A cheap chinese PSU was the problem. I bought a proper one from BeQuiet and now it works perfectly
3. But the thing is it is a new one, I bought it 10 days ago... That's sad :/
4. Originally I had a problem with my original 450W PSU that I detail in the spoiler. The no name PSU was crap!!! A friend of mine borrowed me a BeQuiet 400W and now it works perfectly!!! Problem: When I run a really low requirement game e.g. Counter Strike 1.6, everything works perfectly fine. But when I try 3DMark 13 or GTA5, then it crashes not even 1 second after the game starts (after loading) and the laptop reboots. Here is a video that illustrates my problem: or I am not experienced at all with eGPU, so I am not able to find out what might the problem be. What do you think? Thanks! --- OK guys, it works now!!!! So the no name PSU was crap!!! A friend of mine borrowed me a BeQuiet 400W and now it works perfectly!!!
5. Dear all, For my curiosity and also because of GTA5, I decided to have a look at the eGPU option. My laptop: - HP ENVY dv6t-7300 Quad Edition - i7 3630QM 2.4Ghz - 8GB RAM - Geforce GT 635M dGPU, HD4000 iGPU My eGPU: - Geforce GTX 970 PNY - PE4C v2.1a - BeQuiet 400W PSU - Dell external LCD Pictures Configuration: I did not use Setup1.x at all, my card is well detected, everything seems to be fine (I have just uninstalled the dGPU and rebooted) Here are the steps I have taken: - Dont plug the PE4C to your laptop yet - Boot windows - Disable the dGPU (GT635M in my case) - Uninstal the drivers - Reboot and verify it is still uninstalled - Shutdown, plug in the PE4C - Boot windows (for me, the 1st boot always crashes) - Once windows is booted, install the nvidia drivers - Reboot - There you go!!! Benchmarks And I got 8237 points with 3DMark 13! My card is seen as a GT635M by 3DMark though... but who cares?? 3dmark13-FS.GPU=9743
6. Well I still did not check with gen1, but I have performed some test with GPUtest from Geeks3D and some work, some doesnt and show the same behavior(crash). For those working (1280x1024 Fullscreen, no AA), both are heavy pixel shader tests. - Piano: 2014 - Volplosion: 5593 To compare, my dGPU GT635 gets: - Piano: 206 - Volplosion: 599 It seems pretty fair to me. The fan of the card starts to spin faster and the temperature increases. But When I run the FurMark (GPU burning test) it crashes as soon as it starts. So I dont get it... I will try with Gen1 and with another PSU, I have currently a no name one.
7. Lucky you man!! I am still stuck with my issue: I used different drivers, but still same issue :/
8. Another video that shows how the PC performance 3D test crashes. Here you can see how it crashes right after it starts:
9. That's what I have in the Windows Event Viewer logs: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Source: Kernel Power Event ID 41 Task Category 63 I installed other drivers (older) but still the same thing. I will get another graphic card from a friend of mine, we'll see what happens... Only CS 1.6 works, the rest does not. 3D graphic tests from "Performance Tests" have all the same behaviour, they crash as soon as they start. 2D tests are OK.

11. Hi guys, Like said in my previous post http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2109-diy-egpu-experiences-%5Bversion-2-0%5D-484.html, here is the video of my problem, i.e. when a game starts running, or a benchmark (e.g. 3dmark13), it crashes before it starts or right after it started (like 1 second): The description of the problem is in the description of the video on youtube. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks!
