1. Went from 2690 FS (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P170EM) with a 675MX to 6507 FS (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P170EM) with a 970M, impressive boost
2. Hi,I ordered a HDD caddy for my ODD slot and a mSATA 512GB SSD (SanDisk) and installed them in my Clevo 170EM along my 1TB HDD. I added 2x500GB HDDs I have in my collection to set a RAID0. I want to share with you my experiments.I encountered difficulties migrating my existing 2.5" SSD system drive to the mSATA... system won't boot or boot but with the mouse/keyboard/usb ports not functionning at all :/ My last try was a success : low level disk copy using dd under linux, partition resizing using gparted, boot repair mode with a Win 7 iso and repair mode, command line and send those commands :bcdedit /export C:BCD_Backupc:cd bootattrib bcd -s -h -rren c:ootcd bcd.oldbootrec /RebuildBcdThe key to success was to remove the previous 2.5" SSD drive before trying to repair anything...After that I added the ODD HDD drive bay and added my two 500GB HDD to set a RAID 0.I set the RAID mod in the bios and access it during boot using Ctrl-I. Setting up a RAID 0 was really easy. Booting with windows without any additionnal modification was not :(Had to revert to AHCI, and change the "Start" value of the following keys to 0 :HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesmsahciHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesiaStorVHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesiaStorAfter that I rebooted to bios, set to raid mode and booted to Windows successfully. The only remaining problem is that I can't access windows F8 repair mode anymore...Now my system is powered by a 512GB mSATA SSD (wired on a SATA2 port), a 1TB 2x500GB RAID 0 for my games (faster loading) and 1 TB for my data. Here are the CrystalDiskMark results :1. mSATA / 2. RAID 0 / 3. 1TBI ordered 2x 2TB HDD to set a 4GB RAID... leading to a 5.5 TB laptop :) just enought to install all my 1100+ steam games ;)
3. Hi, I just would like to thank Prema for his work allowing me to upgrade my 675MX to a 970M. You're my hero. I bought my 970M on Aliexpress at 530$ including shipping charges and reused the thermal pads from my 675MX to get it to run. I'm hitting 1275MHz core and 2810MHz memory with +31.3mV overvoltage, reaching 91°C in Unigine Valley. I would like to go further so I plan to use Ultra Liquid on the GPU and k5-pro and replace the pads with K5-PRO while using copper heatsing for backplate soldered memory... still waiting for my orders to arrive.
4. Hi, I'm trying to overclock my Clevo P170EM LCD to a higher refresh rate than 60Hz with no success. Still getting bandwith related error message in Intel HD Graphics driver so I tried Powerstrip... which allows to create custom refresh rate but as soon as you change it, screen turn grey and nothing... had to hardreset. Does anyone had any success with Powerstrip / HD4000 ? First heard of LCD OC here and here. Thanks in advance for any tips you could share.
