  1. @ghoul you have to note that your model has got the 750M SLI which doesn't get that hot at all. I tried to fix this only by undervolting but I've either got crashes caused by instability or I've got overheating crashes.
  2. Hello Guys, I wanna share my FINAL SOLUTION for the overheating problem of the Lenovo Ideapad Y510p with you which doesn't include any hardware changes. The used values worked for each game I have, while higher clocks and voltages only worked for some games. 1. Undervolting and underclocking the CPU using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU): set the Multipliers for 3 and 4 active cores to 26 (reduces heat and prevents throttling) set the Core Voltage Offset to -50 mV these settings won't change after a restart 2. Undervolting and underclocking both GPUs using Nvidia Inspector (NVI): to change the voltage, modifying the BIOS of both internal GPU and Ultrabay GPU will be necessary, this is done by using the BIOS-Mod of Svl7 right here: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/3546-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-whitelist-mod-vbios-mod/ then download Nvidia Inspector: http://orbmu2k.de/tools/nvidia-inspector-tool (Download button is down the website directly above the comments) unzip it and start the file, click "Show Overclocking" and wait for 10-20 second until the values have been refreshed you will always have to wait some time until the values are shown correctly then set the Base Clock Offset to -118 MHz, the Memory Clock Offset to -200MHz and the Voltage Offset to -112.5 mV and click on "Apply Clocks & Voltage", if you have 2 GPUs, select the second one in the bottom left hand corner, do the same for it and apply then you will have two options: 1. you create Clock Shortcuts for each GPU using the button and do apply these setting after each restart or 2. you right click that button and create a Clock Startup Task so it will be applied after each restart automatically (which is much better) I will also attach a batchfile that does exactly the same as the Shortcuts. The values I used should work for each Y510p but you can also try using different ones. I hope this helps some people. The temperatures: - in idle 45-50°C - under load 60-85°C (depending on which game and which settings) overheating fix.zip

This is the time I want to recommend something to every Y510p/Y500 owner (I saw some people on the previous pages of this thread who bricked their BIOSes even after there were so many posts of people who bricked their BIOSes already): DO NEVER TRY TO UNDERVOLT OR CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS IN THE MODDED BIOS IF YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOUR'RE DOING! IT WON'T WORK! AND WILL CAUSE YOU SO MUCH TROUBLE...JUST DON'T DO IT! At the beginning of this thread there is a warning: In my opinion there should be said that it's extremely dangerous to change any settings you are unsure about!   5. Hey, I'm still looking for stable values for my CPU and GPU's (2x GT755M)... You said you would undervolt+overclock both GPU and CPU... Why do you do that? would it work for me as well? Thanks in advance I didn't fix it yet. It's since I gave it to a computer shop and they fixed it... I would be very glad if someone had a solution and it's a software issue... but I think it could also be hardware related I hope someone has an idea Thanks.
  6. Okay i'll try that... thank you very much for your help before I used some batchfiles from the internet that do underclock and somehow that fixed my problem but I just got 70 fps on Low graphics... no i get 70-90 on High graphics... that's amazing
  7. Did that, I think it works played for about 30 minutes... the temps stopped going up at 81°C and 84°... I get 70-90 fps on BF4 High graphics... I don't know if I could get better performance with a little higher clocks... Where do you know the ratio between the clocks and voltage from? I'm happy for now but of course I want the best performance I can get with no overheating and no instability But thaaaanks so far
  8. So I don't need to change the chache voltage? And yes I underclocked both settings: base clock -50 and memory clock -100 and -87.5mV but overheated. Then I tried -112.5mV and it went up to 86°C main GPU and 92°C at the ultrabay GPU. I was able to play for about 30 minutes but then the game crashed due to overheating (I guess). After that I tried -125.0mV, it didn't crash and it didn't get that extremely hot but after some time I think the performance decreased should I try -100mV as well or should I try other values? I'm actually a noob at that but would be glad to find out values with that I have the best performance and no overheating. I use MSI Afterburner to have a look at the temps and the clocks. The clocks were constant at the value I set them. Any help is appreciated later I can post a screenshot of GPU-z if you want...
  9. Thanks for your help so far, rockyston !! I applied your settings and tested the temps and stability playing BF4 (I always have no fps limit, I wanna stress my GPUs to see if I got stable values and temps won't rise up). First I set graphics to medium and later on to high. The temps were going up permanently but very slow in comparison with the undervolting values before. After something like 20 minutes the ultrabay GPU reached 95° and the main one 90°C, then I stopped. I would be very glad if you could give me a hint which value I should try next or how I should go on Another little question: I undervolted the CPU using Intel XTU as you said... Should I lower the cache voltage offset as well? I do strongly appreciate your help
  10. Ok setting voltages and clocks works now thanks so far!! I tried underclocking by 100mHz and undervolting by 87.5mV, no crashes due to the voltage but it gets very hot (I tested it with Battlefield 4 on Medium settings, no fps limit). I stopped at 90°C at GPU 0 and 95°C at GPU 1. At the beginning I've got between 100 and 130 fps (which is equal to the performance that I get without any changes at the clocks and voltages) and when it got really hot I just had between 80 and 105 fps. How should I go on with undervolting and underclocking? I wanna find values with that I get no crashes due to instability or overheating and no performance loss as well... Do you have any idea which values I should try next? Thanks in advance

Hey guys , if I try to lower the voltages of both GPUs with nvidia inspector (and yes i modded both Vbios and main bios) the slider of "voltage offset" always goes back to 0 if I press apply reducing the core clock by 100mhz works fine. How did you do that? also i don't know which power state i have to choose... would be very happy if you could post an exact explanation on how to do it big thanks in advance Bobbey
  12. Okay my laptop works again after it was bricked, they unsoldered they BIOS chip, then flashed it and soldered again to the board. It works but my little "problem" is that there is a black screen at the startup for about 15-20 seconds which is very annoying. Has anyone an idea how to fix that? Thanks in advance...

  16. Ok I'll do that. And then I need to put it on a bootable DOS drive like at the installation of the modded bios? I hope it will boot from the usb drive. edit: Okay I did that and it didn't boot. I don't know if it's important but before that happened I set USB Boot to off and BIOS Backflash as well. I continue to hope for a solution and thank you for your help so far
  17. I changed the multiplier of the third and fourth core to 27 and undervolted by -60mV. Where do I get this stock bios file named Yx01.bin? Thanks so far
  18. I tried the second solution but it didn't work... is it possible that some hardware got damaged? I'm gonna try the first solution now. edit: I powered it on an let it stay like that for about an hour right now... that didn't work. I don't know what to do I would be incredibly happy if anyone could help me or has a solution
  19. Hey Guys, I've got a big problem! I changed the voltage and the multipliers of my CPU inside the menu of the modded BIOS (I know that was so stupid) and now it won't boot. If I press the power button the display doesn't start but the LEDs of the keyboard and the power button turn on. If I remove the AC power there is a beep sound. I HOPE for help. Thank you guys
  20. Hey rockykoston, I have the same laptop as well and my solution was the "GT755M undervolt & underclock.bat"-file from this link: NvidiaInspectorForY510p. It sets the GPU clock speeds of both GPUs to 954mHz and changes something at the memory clocks. Somehow that results in a lower voltage and no more overheating and no more crashes while gaming. You do not need to mod your BIOS to use this file. I modded my BIOS as well and tried to lower the voltage of the GPUs without underclocking but I only got crashes while undervolting with Nvidia Inspector and the modded BIOS. Now my question is: Could you explain to me how exactly you did the undervolt with Nvidia Inspector and what voltage you chose? Maybe you could make such a batchfile with the commands like above.   22. Uuups I did it already but reset the options back to default... hopefully nothing got damaged. And i have flashed my VBIOS back to version 3.05 and I think that fixed the crashes for me... I can use the "undervolt&underclock"-file from http://www.mediafire.com/download/mdlmr2zz9kbzzbv/<wbr>NvidiaInspectorForY510p.rar again without crashes. That worked for me before flashing the VBIOS but then no longer. I don't know if the modded VBIOS is faulty? My problem is now that I don't know whether my crashes were caused by the wrong undervolt values or the VBIOS. Hope for help

  24. I think -75mv is a stable value. I get no crashes caused by the undervolt anymore but still overheating. Maybe I should try to underclock? How should I do that? Does anyone know a stress test tool for my GPUs that supports SLI?
  25. Ok I did it. Here are the values: 78.7%; 78.6%. I think I won't buy a cooling pad... because I think it isn't worth it. Is there any other program that I can use to control the voltages? Nvidia inspector works but it just goes in 12.5mv steps. MSI Afterburner prevents me to change the voltage and I'd like to change the voltage by 1mv steps if it's possible. Thanks
