  1. and we got a placeholder webpage for the m11x-r3 on dell's site : http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-m11x-r3/pd?~ck=anav
  2. ^^ well there's a link to a m14x mobile & service manuals if that's what you mean. Regarding the M18x, there's number of confirmations but the latest would be: http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m18x/268-official-alienware-m18x-owners-lounge.html#post1759
  3. So i have this problem with my ProBook 6540b, every time i put it to hibernate/turn off a second AFTER it turns off (screen off, all lights off) there's a crackling sounds starts coming from the speakers for about 3-5 seconds and then it stops. This got me worried as it's the only laptop i got right now, and i am afraid it's some kind of electrical issue that might worsen and burn the motherboard or worse.. Anyone had anything similar happen to him ?
  4. I think the SP1 might have repaired some corrupted setting/registry entry/file, i mean the problem would have probably been resolved had best_re6 reinstalled windows.
  5. Hi there! Welcome to T|I again You should definitely try fresher drivers than the one Dell pushes. I remember when i had a NVIDIA based lappy i was downloading my drivers from laptopvideo2go.com Always trying the latest drivers (usually with a modified inf), and just comparing performance with the ones i had before. That way i always knew the best performing driver out there.
  6. LOL, never done unboxing videos and never will However, i've done some unboxing pictures of my M17x-R2 which were quite popular at the time
  7. T|I was created exactly for the reasons you mention. We want a free open dialog here without flaming each other but also without the Big Brother closing threads/erasing posts just because it's speculation I am dying to order the M18x and i really hope that the 4/19 date that has been thrown around quite a lot is true.
  8. hey there! glad you like it here well money wise I think I am good because I was lucky enough to sell my R2 in israel for about the same price I bought it for in US a year ago. I expect the m18x to be in the same price range as the R2 was when it launched. as for the dual video cards setup- well, I think there will be problems but history shows us that Dell deals with those problems eventually and if they don't we can always demand our money back. what you describe about the r1 you have is outrageous and if I were you i would call dell support every day until I get my money back/a replacement R2 or R3. configuration wise the m18x can't surprise us much. we know it will be a dual card machine so 6970 in XF will be an option (plus nvidia 460 and maybe even 485 in SLI but those aren't attractive for me at least) we know it's going to have a 18" 16:9 screen which will give about the same screen real estate as the R2 17" 1200p screen offers but it won't be rgb led probably. if they decide to give us a IPS screen or 16:10 aspect ration (highly unlikely) even better! it will be anodized aluminum as we saw yesterday from the link that by now was fixed.. here is a screenshot of it: it will of course be sandy bridge based so no surprises there. it will support SATA 3 and USB 3. So just looking at the those facts it is already looking like quite an interesting machine, add to that the delays that Dell has with R3s (mine was ordered on march 19 with a edd of April 12 which was pushed to may 7 right before I canceled) I think it's wise to wait and see sure Dell can somehow screw things up and make the m18x a disappointment but then I'll just reorder the R3 and get it fast because hopefully their production bottlenecks will be resolved by then.
  9. they removed it about 20 minutes ago, fuck, i should've kept a screenshot. Basically it was black/red anodized aluminum so we're good
  10. I got a date from Eric G. according to him the launch date is April 19th. p.s good find!! we got a anodized aluminum body confirmation.
  11. There we go Dell just posted Alienware M11x-R3 and M14x service manuals! | Tech|Inferno Brian, you might wanna add the service and mobile manuals to the front post..

  13. I'll probably get it too ash. canceled my r3 order for that. which threads need moving?
  14. now that my AW withdrawal is getting stronger i am slowly embracing it
  15. So, good news. The rep that was following my case just called and said that she say i tried to cancel the order yesterday and that she did cancel it for me. Nice of her Right now i'll wait for the specs of the m18x and decide, in case i still decide to go with R3 i might pick a used one to save on costs and time.
  16. Nice find man! +Rep for that! No surprises there, exactly as eric g predicted
  17. ^^ i tend to agree here. Still, a little voice in the back of my head will always whisper that i can have a stronger system Less so if the finish will be plastic-y as the R3. I'll leave it to luck, since Dell won't let me cancel my order now i am keeping it, if i see they start delaying my EDD i'll have a chance to cancel and then i will (or not), hell, let's wait and see

    Cisco WRT400N

you'd love it. I installed openwrt on mine just so I can tweak it some more. great piece of hardware. btw, you could try ddwrt to remedy your current router before you get the wndr
  19. Haha, nice one mw86 Like! I actually have tried calling Dell twice and canceling the order, but the reps tell me that it's impossible to cancel at that stage and my only option is to deny the package so it goes back to Dell and i am then reimbursed. To tell you the truth, i know that i want the M18x only to have the most powerful machine (and top quality) that i can, but if i look at my usage patterns (i need portability cause i move it a lot, i need battery life and i don't game as much as i used to, i need it mostly for work so good CPU + lots of mem + SSD) and be "adult" about it i can see how the R3 is a better fit for me. Decisions.... Decisions....
  20. Agreed, the R2 is too heavy for on the go, i hope the R3 will be more portable
