You mean 2012 15" MBP? If it is, you will need eGPU DIY Setup from Nando4 in order to use eGPU in Windows. You may try to look for guides in the Implementation Guide forum.

Time to remove all references to powered risers from all guides
errin replied to MVC's topic in DIY e-GPU Projects
I agreed with no riser method it's safer and easier for many. But what I concern is the yellow/black cable either it will get melt (which mine is still doing fine) of the back of the GPU without backplate will scratch the cable (which show a little on my cable). -
Nice setup.

Do you think after this MBP release, eGPU with AMD GPU will work better than nVidia?

<s>Anyone knows about 2015 13" MacBook Pro will work with eGPU? Especially with Akitio TB2. I've seen one user has some problem with the Magma enclosure but no further reported.</s> Never mind that. Just got to page 78 and Nando already answered that.

I can say one thing that import taxes are not anything seller will know that you will be charged or not or even how much of the charging cost. Actually in my country the same item can be charged with different cost or sometimes never been charged at all. And I believe in most website there are always state "The seller will not take responsibility for the taxes" before buyers click buy button.

US$189 AKiTiO Thunder2 PCIe Box (16Gbps-TB2)

Is it posible to make a direct 6-pin to Barrel connector since my PSU is fully modular so it won't need to connect 6-pin to Molex >>> Molex to Barrel? -

Sorry I didn't see it. My bad. -

Should it be concerned that putting GPU straight to the Akitio might melt down the yellow/black cable? -

It's correct. Mine took almost a week for the respond. Anyway I found one seller from eBay that sell Akitio TB2+shipping (outside US) cheaper than Akitio sales team so I bought from that seller instead. -
Not sure if this can help. I have non-Retina 2012. I can use both internal and external at the same time. The internal use 650m and external use eGPU.

I think you need better PSU for gaming GPU. Even Maxwell GTX 960 can consume up to 120w when full load and 90-100w in normal condition

I think you need to put the GPU in to test whether it's working or not. -

I did exactly like yours and my LED working, GPU fan blowing but can't be detected in DIY eGPU Setup. I then desolder it and use the same raiser with molex everything run fine again. -
My fan is still spinning but can't detect the eGPU in DIY Setup

I did both methods the led came up the fan on GPU spin at first I thought it's working. But in DIY eGPU Setup it can't detect the GPU no matter what. I wonder did I break anything on the board? -

So it means there are two difference methods. 1. Taped the A123 B123 and connect J4 yellow/black cable 2. Disconnect J4 cable and untaped the A123 B123 Both need power from Molex to Barrel PSU I understand correctly, right? Oh and one thing, this photo from you show that you still connect J4 cable. Did you remove it later? http://forum.techinferno.com/attachments/enclosures-adapters/14171d1424708172-c3_capacitor.jpg -

I just soldered the J6 cable like the photos and tape A123 and B123 and disconnect J4 cable (yellow/black). After connected the Akitio default PSU (for test) nothing came up no led no fan, did I do anything wrong? Or do I need to use the ATX PSU in order to use this method? -

Sorry, I meant Nando's photo (though I still didn't notice that he already bypass the cable too). But yours are so cool too My bad. T_T -

Wow, that look really cool. The only drawback is that yellow-black cable will get melt. -

So if I use the barrel method it means the PCB will get hot and power limit can be overcome? If I solder the cable directly to PCB it will be cooler and also no 25w limit to the card? -

Thank you @goalque I've read your post and really like the portable setup. But it seems that the power provided by Molex to Barrel DC is limited not more than 25w. if I have the GPU that eat more power than that will it has any problem? Do you know what is the max watt that Molex from PCI riser can provide? -
Is this card support MacBook Pro 15" 2008 with Express card 34 slot (Bootcamp)? I'm planning to revive my old one with this card and eGPU.
