  1. @Tech Inferno Fan Sure thing, just got the results but I realised that the Acer Aspire 5755G has overheating issues... that would explain the terrible scores, also I noticed in HWMonitor my temperature is always 80 degrees, that aside everything is fine in performance manager

Notice how in 3DMark 06, the 1080p result is higher than 720p... interesting

  2. If you include your pics at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2109-diy-egpu-experiences-%5Bversion-2-0%5D-383.html#post108090 , a brief writeup of the steps you did and add 3dmark06 and 3dmark11/13 performance runs at default resolutions then I can add your implementations to http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/6578-implementations-hub-tb-ec-mpcie.html#dx11 . Yours would be one of the first EXP GDC V7 ones and includes exclusive enclosure photos.

Sure, ill make a guide and post it to this thread

  3. thanks for the pictures!.you have an x1.2 optimus cabapable system.you should see a big increase of performance in dx9 apllications by dissabling the dgpu.when have time ,please make some dx9 -dx11 benchmarks.is not looking bad at all.when you take out the atx psu will have a more portabilty

Sure, ill do some 3dmark 11 tomorrow and see. What scores you recon i should expect?

    Guide:

    1. Remove dGPU nvidia drivers

    2. Boot into BIOS and change graphics mode to integrated graphics

    3. Install Setup 1.30

    4. Insert the EXP GDC v7/6 into the mPCIe port and connect the power etc

    4. Boot into Setup 1.30 and select the third option

    5. Change to chain loader from mbr2 to mbr, initialize egpu and run pci compaction with iGPU and eGPU

    6. Save then reboot

    7. Boot into OS :joyous:

  5. ok.the first you have to do is enter in the menú-based of x1.setup.once there you have to find the right configuration:compactation and other posible configurations you may need in order to make egpu functional.once you find the right setup(first you have to test it) you will see that it remains in the start-up bat.área from the right side of the screen. Then go to start-up.bat option from the list of the menú and choose edit.once there you must scroll-down page and you will find your configuration at the bottom of the page.suposing that is the right one click on the first option from the up-menú of the page and you will see a save option.that means that you will save your config.in order to be use like an automatic start.up.bat.once you save it,click exit and you will return to the start .bat option.there click test run and you will see if is a valid setup for beeing added as a automatic start.up.once do all that just choose Automatic start.up.bat from first menú when x.1setup boot-up.let me khnow if you make it.good luck!

Thanks so much man, everything is all good now :) also for people getting the metal enclosure for the exp gdc v7, its good but you need to bend it into shape :P and also they only gave me 5 screws... But its alright, i found some more from a broken pc. The enclosure isnt that fashionable, looking to paint it soon. Also its insanely heavy! Other than that its pretty average. Also you can add a fan to increase airflow, which is nice. One more thing, the exp gdc v7 gives you an extention cable for extending the power to your graphics card, but you should need it. Let me know if you want pics, i can upload them if you like.

  6. yes.use startup.bat-edit option and save your actual (working one) configuration and then simply use automatic start-up.bat when x1.setup starts wich is the first one option on the menú.

thanks man, can you be a bit more specific, it came up with this blue cmd like screen D: it was very intimidating ahahah

  7. Maybe this one can be useful http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2129-diy-egpu-troubleshooting-faq.html#error43_faq1

I'm absolutely not a geek so my best is to report first hand process or others solutions!

it could be a problema of memory allocation.if you got x1.setup make a compaction on egpu.if you don"t have x1.setup try making a dsdt override.in my case in a Fujitsu siemens amilo pi i have to make both due the high tolud.maybe you need to do the same in order to have en egpu functional.the gtx 650 need contigous 250mb space to acomódate it.this card unlike others is a litlle hard to acomódate if you have high tolud.

omg it works, thanks guys. so basically it was a dud card. I swapped it out with a brand new 660 and it works fine :) but i have to go through configuring everything in egpu setup D: is there a way to save the configuration so i dont need to configure it every single time?

  8. :) my experience was exactly the same (using PE4C) and the solution was in the sequence: need to wait the laptop was up and running and only after connect the (already powered) eGPU.

The laptop then recognized a new device, search and install drivers. After that you can install vendor specific drivers for your GPU, and in my case was asked for reboot.

If you have already installed vendor drivers uninstall it and wait the system has installed his drivers.

If all is ok next time you need to boot always with eGPU already connected and powered.

Also pay attention to make your external display as primary if you want benchmark and app can experience the new hw acceleration.

Hope this help and your case is similar to mine.

thanks buddy, everything works except i cant output to my monitor o.O in the device manager it list my card as gtx 650, thats good but theres an exclamation next to it... what does it mean?

  9. I am using x1.setup and its very helpful in most of the case it is the only salvation.i install it in this new system and it works great.from my experience in windows 7 the only way to achieve optimus performance is by using x1.setup in order to disable dgpu.it is not working with just disable it whitin devicemanager. good luck with your egpu setup tomororow!

Thanks man! Yea i also been trying to find out too to determine which port is what. Its so confusing -_- this is just an assumption but look up how to find how big your tolud size is and usually the first one that is A00000 or something like that should be your first port and so on, by the way that was just an example, yours might be different. From the detail, i think you can look up what port is using what. Sorry i cant remember exactly on how find your tolud size

  10. I am testing the Windows 10 technical prewiev and I guess that I find something useful to a egpu setup.if you just disable the pci-e port where dgpu is locate ,you can activate optimus because the dgpu simply desseapear from display devices list, unlike windows 7 where it was need to use x1.setup in order to do that.if you do that in windows 7 since I remember the dgpu stays in display devices list like a generic display adapter and optimus can"t engage.i have an intel cougar point HM65 second generacion based system.someone can confirm?or I am just missing something......

by the way ,this new system is not bad at all

Im pretty sure in theory you can just disable the dgpu itself and still be able to get optimus? Lol, my exp gdc is coming tomorrow ill let you know if it works. Either way if it does or doesnt its best to install setup 1.30

  11. The reported needed PSU it's to power the GPU and a whole PC.

To power only the card you need to look at TDP, that's just 140w in your case Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB Review | bit-tech.net

Dell DA-2 need to be more than enough.

Thanks for the reply! Awesome looks like ill be getting the DA-2 :) Just want to be 100% sure, is this the correct adapter for the exp gdc v7.0? Don't want to have to return it if its the wrong type, as I live in Australia and shipping will be insane XD

  12. gtx980 is the highest one i think very expensive one you buying, and sorry i am also new to this project i am planning to buy gtx 460 but i am not able to find at my place may i knew any alternative for it?

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

bruh, id recomend the evga 750 ti sc because it doesnt require extra juice, and it has a low tpd
