  1. Maybe you can try the clevo 80.04.29.00.01 oc edition, it's stable at 954 Mhz core / 2400 Mhz Memory at 0.962v. But i don't know if it is compatible with your Msi.

Without flashing, you can safely OC to a max 854Mhz core (limit of your stock vbios) and 2200/2400 memory ... you need only an OC utility like MSI afterburner, with that software you can OC and check the stability and temperature of your card in game and benchmark. For the time being, I can't advise you the MSI 80.04.33.00.24 oc edition vbios, because of a bug that put the 3d voltage at 1.012v versus 0.987v of your stock vbios.

  5. @kolias: Thanks for the rep ...Like i say, only some games will overload your PSU. I have finished Crysis 2, from start to end, and i have only recorded one peak of 185W (it is just a peak so it cannot damage the PSU). In exterior, Far Cry 3 doesn't consume more than 182W, but in the Lost Expedition level, the Gpu comsuption goes to a high 194-200W. I know that your CPU is rated at 55W vs 45w for mine, but i use a custom P150HM Bios, made by Prema, that put the MAX cpu TDP to 70W, in that condition my 2860qm stay a lot longer at his max turbo frequencies (3dmark physics score of 8100 vs 7500 with the stock Bios). Btw you must have a wattmeter, i think it's a safety measure when you OC with a 180W PSU. I don't know if the GTX680M will run cooler than your HD7970M, keep in mind that OC to 1 Ghz core push the cooler system of our laptop in their limit, but it seem that you have already taken this parameter in consideration (notebook cooler + modded backplate). Making the gpu comsuption goes down is quite simple, you have to lower the frequencies of your card. I don't have a msi laptop, but with the P150HM, the symptoms are quite simple, the PSU become very very hot, and when it cannot support this stress anymore, the laptop shutdown brutaly. For a Psu with higher wattage, i haven't found yet a psu higher than 180W with the correct adapter, i think that you will have the same problem with your Msi. Some advanced users have modified a 220-240w psu in order to put a compatible adapter, but it could be dangerous if you don't know how to do that (risk of damaging your laptop or risk of fire). I hope that SVL7 can fix the Bug on the MSI 80.04.33.00.24 OC edition (without Ov), to have a 3d voltage of 0.987v, it could be a good compromise between clevo .29 vbios and msi .33 ov 1v.
  6. The safe vbios in a P150HM are the Clevo 80.04.29.00.01 and MSI 80.04.33.00.24 ov 1.000v. The clevo vbios has a 3d voltage of 0.962v (stock voltage with this vbios) it allow an OC at max 954 core 2400 memory (may vary in function of the quality of your card) and give you a 3dmark score of 7600-7850 (in function of your cpu), this is the more safe vbios for your 180W PSU. Msi 80.04.33.00.24 ov 1.000v has a 3d voltage of 1.0v it allow an OC of 1006 core 2400 memory (may vary in function of the quality of your card) and give you a 3dmark score of 8000-8130 (in function of your cpu), at those frequencies and voltage, some games could overload your PSU (Far cry 3 in the LOST EXPEDITION level ...) you need to buy a wattmeter to measure if you could run a game safely with those frequencies and voltage. If you want to reach those frequencies safely, You Must also cool your laptop with a notebookcooler and do some mod on your backplate in order to give more fresh air to the gpu. At that moment the MSI 80.04.33.00.24 OC edition vbios (without OV) seem to have bug and give a voltage of 1.012v, so i can't advise this one on a P150HM. And yes ! Svl7 is a great man ... All others vbios will make your GTX680M unusable on your P150HM (the card will not be bricked but it will block the boot process, and you will be unable to restore a backup vbios unless you put your card in a P1XXEM laptop series) PS: make a backup of your vbios before flashing your card (nvflash -b backup.rom) PS2: Be sure to be in the latest BIOS for your P150HM, because i haven't tested these vbios in other environnement than EC/KBC V 1.00.13 & BIOS V 1.01.14 November 2011, Always update EC/KBC first. http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/556299-clevo-bios-older-models.html PS3: If you got a Sager don't flash with a clevo bios and if you got a clevo don't flash with a sager bios (sager bios has custom EC/KBC that wasn't compatible with standard clevo bios, there is a risk of bricking your laptop).

Beware of Far cry 3 "The Lost Expedition" missions, it put a lot of pressure on the Gpu and i measure a Max of 200W at outlet ( core@1006Mhz/Mem@2400Mhz/ 1.000v) ... i must drop my frequencie @915Mhz/ 1.000v core to be below 180W ... First game that push the limit of my PSU. Edit : i forgot to say that i use a custom bios that make the CPU use longer his max TDP, so with the standard Bios, i gain 8-9W.
  8. I got some excellent news. Msi 80.04.33.00.24 vbios are fully compatible with P150HM series and seem compatible with P15xEM series. I flash the 1.0v OV version and got the same score than with the MSI_FD vbios.

  11. I got some excellent news. Msi 80.04.33.00.24 vbios are fully compatible with P150HM series and seem compatible with P15xEM series. I flash the 1.0v OV version and got the same score than with the MSI_FD vbios. I will do more test later (stability/performance/behavior and will test MSI 80.04.33.00.24 stock voltage vbios).
  12. I got this issue with MSI_FD vbios, related to nvidia driver. (got this issue on driver > to 306.23) The gpu stay at 993Mhz on the Overclocking range of 993Mhz-1005Mhz, but if you OC @1006Mhz it must keep this frequencies.
  13. Before flashing your GTX680M, i think you 'd better ask the other user, what is his laptop bios version. The Issues with the new vbios seem to be related to an un-compatibility between the laptop bios and the gpu vbios. (like we can see with apu71 page 65 who got problems with his P150em and Moz and other who succeded flashing their card but with the latest laptop bios) Does he test the vbios 80.04.33? Trust me, this is very frustrating to have an unusable GTX680M ...
  14. Hum it make the same thing with the MSI_FD vbios, when i launch a 3d app the voltage go to 1.025v during 10-30s and then go down to 1v. maybe you can put the 3d voltage to 1v and then after warm up it goes down to 0.987v ....
  15. Is there a hope to see a vbios with such optimization on HM series? Because the only vbios that worked for me is a vbios based on the MSI_FD, that you mod in order to have a load voltage of 1v. It work pretty well, so thank you, but there is a bug when i am on battery... the gpu don't see that and apply the max clock if a 3d app (or sometimes a software that require gpu acceleration) is launched... it could damage the battery on the long term. This behavior don't appear on the final vbios like the 80.04.29.00.01 or 80.04.33.00.10.

  18. @lonesyndal: You have a P150EM and flash successfully with the revised clevo vbios 80.04.33.00.10 ... It's weird because APU71 (page 65) has got problem with his P150EM and a previous release based on this vbios.

  21. I doubt that there will be a release to correct that issue, because this "feature" is a consequence of the fact that this vbios is an early version of an engineering sample. Oui ... je suis Français.
  22. I use this vbios since 2 month without problem. It is safe but you must avoid to launch 3d app on battery (even by mistake) because the card has a different behaviour than with stock vbios. On stock vbios the card detect that you are on battery and don't go to max clock (@max clock the laptop can consume between 174-180W) with this vbios there is no limit anymore, so there is a risk to damage your battery, if you launch a 3d app and you unplug the PSU.
  23. Stock bios has a load voltage of 0.962V ... I reach 1005Mhz with 1v, so i think that you can easily reach 900 Mhz with 1v, but it depend of your card (Overclocking is not a science ;-) "How can i edit the bios for set my personnal frequency ?" Maybe you can ask SVL7 ...
