  1. My eGPU setup* recently had a bit of a problem, the dvi ports stopped out-putting (i've no idea if displayport works or not) only the hdmi port seems to work. Is this software related or is it possible to fry outputs with static electricity? That is a possibility. *eGPU Specs: late 2013 Mbp 13inch + Akitio Thunder2 box + Cx500m psu + powered riser + GTX770
  2. My eGPU had been working fantastically for quite a while when i decided to try out the fast start up option for windows, thats when things got screwed up. After that the eGPU would no longer detect so i turned fast start off and it WOULD detect however only the hdmi output worked, the DVI - D output would not display. Any ideas on a fix?
  3. Thanks for the suggestion, i did manage to get the eGPU detected, i had to startup on the internal with the eGPU plugged in (and on) then i had to restart the computer and it detected, for some reason shuting down and booting up wasnt the answer, restarting was.
  4. Hey guys my eGPU* is not being detected, fans spin up and the screen is black internally and no display externally. On my last install of windows i accidentally unplugged the eGPU while the mac was running (oops) and when i restarted it worked with the eGPU but not with the internal screen (just on windows). Anyway i reinstalled windows to fix this and now the internal works but i cannot seem to get the eGPU detected again. I have tried hot plugging the eGPU right after the startup chime and it doesn't seem to help. * GTX 770 - 13" MBP - AKiTiO Thunder2 Box - 16X Powered Riser - CX500M On the Mac side I am using Yosemite and on Bootcamp Windows 8.1 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I got it working, thanks for the help!!!
  6. Hey guys i am having trouble with my eGPU* after recently doing a re-install of Windows in an attempt to get Optimus to work (it didn't). I will boot-up with it plugged in and the internal screen will go black while the external shows no signal. The fans speed up and but never ramp down like they used to. i have a suspicion that it is my riser, is that a possibility? Would appreciate any help. : ) *eGPU Specs: late 2013 Mbp 13inch + Akitio Thunder2 box + Cx500m psu + powered riser + gigabyte gtx 770 4gb + bootcamp Win 8.1 install
  7. I cannot get Optimus to activate on my eGPU* would an EFI install of Windows fix this or am i mistaken? *eGPU Specs: late 2013 Mbp 13inch + Akitio Thunder2 box + Cx500m psu + powered riser + gigabyte gtx 770 4gb + bootcamp Win 8.1 install
  8. I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro 13 inch hooked up to a Akitio Thunder2 box with a Gigabyte GTX 770. It has a normal bootcamp install and I am using a powered riser to accommodate the lack in slot power. I turn on the PSU and box at the same exact time and then try to boot-up and every time without fail i get a blank display internally and externally. Does anyone know what is going wrong? UPDATE: Got it to work on an external display but i still can't seem to get optimus to activate.
  9. I have a 13in retina macbook pro connected through thunderbolt with an akitio thunder2 box to a GTX770 all running on windows 8.1 pro, i plug everything in boot up and don't get a display internally or externally. since i have no display i don't have any drivers installed either. what am i doing wrong? Thanks for any help!
  10. You need a powered riser, if the SEL is only 60W then its not even close to the max 75W for pcieslot power. I just bought a Akitio and i had to grab one too. Hopefully the dang thing shows up.
  11. I have the enclosure and unless you remove the PCB (which is pretty easy) then only very small cards can fit. (I am almost done with an eGPU being made with it)
  12. Ordering parts for an eGPU just want to know if these parts will work. I'm not sure which enclosure is better the Sonnet SEL or the AKiTiO Thunder2 PCIe Box. Also what is the best way to get around error 12??? Will a simply override work or is eGPU setup 1.3 a better option.
  13. So to avoid issues with draw from the slot itself, you would want an SEL?
  14. So does this config require a error 12 workaround or is that not an issue?
  15. I have the most recent 13 inch Macbook pro with 8gb of ram an i5 and Intel Iris graphics. I want an eGPU but i am not sure if these are the proper parts or if there is something better. I am running Bootcamp with Windows Server 2008 as a free alternative to Win 7. Will Windows Server create any issues? And if so what operating system should i switch to (Win 7/Win 8.1)?
