1. Hi

is it possible to unlock E16F2IMS.10Z MSI GT683DX (non-Raid SKU)

683DX is unlocked. Just disable RAID on first boot.

    Hi Xonar

Did you have time to make it ?

    Thanks

No, I apologize for the inconvenience. I've been out of town for the past week. I promise by Friday :)

I've put FreeDos on my USB key (like MSI official procedure) and i've modified your update.bat with the name of the file you sent me.

Why the blind flash method (officiel 30M bios renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM) didn't work ? My USB key work 2 sec after pressing CTRL + SHIFT + PadNum 7 and then nothing ... even if I wait 10 minutes ... I've try with Ctrl + Fn + Home, same thing.

Still have the boot screen when powering on but Del, F11 and F3 key didn't work.

Try burning the ROM to a CD and try the same procedure with a CD instead of USB. Did you plug USB into 3.0 or 2.0 port? AFUDOS will refuse to flash if the ID's don't match up (and give you a warning), in which case a /X parameter would be necessary to force flash. I doubt you flashed the wrong file.

  2. I updated my GTX 570M 1.5GB vBIOS to one from GTX 670M 1.5GB but situation doesn't change much and I was facing problem with changing up and down fps. So I got back to my GTX 570M vBIOS and OCed it a little with SVET's Tuner and than OCed it to max with Afterburner :P

The vBIOS should not matter at all, people flashed the Dell 670M vBIOS on their MSI 570M's the day it was released. Why not just overvolt and overclock your 570M 3GB? You know they are insane overclockers... you may need a small overvolt to sustain a higher overclock and thus better cooling, etc.

Is it because you want to flash it to a GTX670M since you are asking? I have thought about it, and have the MSI vBIOS available - but now i'm not sure if the PC's BIOS also needs to be updated before it will see the 'new' GTX670M?

I hope you are in the same situation as me.

Why does it really matter? The 670M brings nothing new to the table against the 570M minus a small overclock.

Is this also possible for an GT60 0NC Notebook with an GTX 675 Card?

Yes, attach the vBIOS here and maybe @svl7 can take a look. What are you specifically looking to do? Voltage, core, mem, shader clocks?

  3. why? other notebooks have two graphics, for example, hd and nvidia, when notebook are charging, system uses nvidia, and when notebook uses battery, it uses hd graphic. in msi notebooks i think it is really big minus because when notebook runs on the battery and uses nvidia, u cant play, whatch fullhd bluray (more than 70 Gb films) and by loading it consume too much power.

now i download amibcp and in the bios it is a point: integrate graphics disable/enable. when i try to enable, my computer wouldn't start

Almost every notebook has 2 GPUs these days (1 is integrated into the CPU). Like @svl7 said, it comes down to the OEM (system manufacturer) to choose to enable the switchable feature or not. MSI chose not to with Sandy Bridge notebooks, but decided to with Ivy Bridge.

Also, I can't seem to understand confusion:

    1. There is nothing more to unlock. I've also clearly stated before that even though some options exist, i.e. AGP APERTURE SIZE; we clearly don't have an AGP Slot in our notebooks anymore and these options could cause nothing but harm.

    2. Where did MSI ever advertise Optimus to work with the: 16F2, 680(3), 1762 or 780(3)? Answer: no where, the hardware mux doesn't even exist. Con: No Optimus, Pro: AMD GPU support.

    3. Short battery life and not being play 3D games on battery are MSI's fault. MSI's Sandy Bridge series has the GPU active at all times (lack of Optimus), but on battery the clocks on my 560M GTX would never exceed something like 200Mhz on core and 300Mhz on memory. With 20% battery wear I can still manage 2+ hours web surfing, which is incredible if you compare it to my old Gateway P-7811FX which had 2 hours of battery out of the box.

    Makes sense?

If your computer won't restart it's because you've changed a setting in your BIOS to a bad value. This requires a CMOS reset, refer to post #2 on page 1.

  4. Can i unlock intel graphics with this bios? GT683

What is this supposed to mean? Yes, you can OC the iGPU, but for what reason? We don't have optinus on sandy bridge notebooks. So no, you technically cannot use the iGPU either way.

hello, im new to this here.

i have a pretty old laptop but i have a core2 quad ES edition that works with 3.5ghz but u need to use throttelstop for that.

the newer versions dont work for me unfortunately but the 3version does

has anybody any clue if there is anything i can do to get my gpu changed or more overclocked. ive read about some mod bioses for the gpu,

ive modded my bios by myself but there is not really a way to get a higher vcore on the gpu.

the 4850m has a pretty special gpu design so i dont really see a way to upgrade my gpu eversince i would have to change the heatsink but maybe that is possible

    Welcome to T|I chap.

Unfortunately, the 4850m is the best that will run on your notebook. 100w TDP cards will not be able to be cooled well enough and will result in reduced clocks (I.e. not worth it). the 260m gtx 2.1 HE is compatible but a side-grade, not an upgrade. It's possible that some Quadros work full speed, but youd have to do research.

Maybe @svl7 can do something with the vbios so you can get a little more out of your GPU.

  5. hmmm im at an impass here.. Ok if you guys can offer some help i would very much appreciate it. I bought a custom laptop from cyberpowerpc (they wont give me the original bios to revert to). It uses the 1762 barebone and i bought it with the 680m in it, so am i just screwed? And to make it worse i decided to flash the gt 70 bios (at the msi website) and i could only install the intel driver to work partially. Then i tried an unlocked 1762 bios (svet made for someone) and i cant install any video driver to work, and i dont have 5 posts yet so i cant try yours... (unless someone has a E1762IG6.30J then im screwed i think...) ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers so many times, idk what to do, and if i send it in illhave to wait about a month + for them to fix it...

Oops, looks like I was wrong. They now offer the MSI whitebooks with the 680M GTX officially. Anyways, the GT70 BIOS should work on a 1762 without a problem. Have you tried a fresh install?

  6. Excellent write up @Brian, Mr. Fox. Some interesting results you guys have compiled there.

Only complaint is to try to keep the colors the same in the charts throughout. In the Sleeping Dogs chart you have blue=min, red=avg. But then you switch it up for the rest and have red=max and green=avg. I suggest keeping them the same throughout as it confuses the reader when he/she has to re-read the legends in the tables (i.e. keep blue=min, red=avg and green=max throughout).

    Otherwise nice job you two.

  7. idk if this was asked earlier, but does the 1762 barebone unlocked one, updated to support the 680m?

    Welcome to T|I Paul.

As far as I know, only the GT60/GT70 officially support the 680M GTX. I don't know if anyone's tried it in a 1762 or 16F3.

  8. It shouldn't. The 670M GTX is plug and play in that notebook. Perhaps you missed a cable when reassembling or the card is not seated properly?

Have you tried plugging in an external? What vendor is the card from out of curiosity?

  9. I don't understand why MSI would block features on their GT Series laptops. It has a lot of potential. Maybe there is a liability issue?

Yep, imagine all the people that would change settings without realizing the repercussions and end up with a paperweight (and not knowing how to fix it either).

    Hi,

i got a GT780 DXR, can someone tell me which features can unlocked if i flash xonars modded bios?

Basically look at the second post with the pictures.

Does the GT780DX bios contain any specific allowances for specific video cards?

do the white book bios mess up a retail notebook if you use them on it? The white book bios seem more up to date than the retail laptop.

Question 1: No, it is the same. MSI doesn't blacklist or whitelist GPUs, that's why they generally have the best compatibility with other vendors' cards.

Question 2: Yes, some functions may not work properly. The update date doesn't really matter... most of the updates are useless and MSI doesn't provide changelogs so only they know what's really been changed.

  10. Out of curiosity - can you access the Chipset and Advanced tabs normally?

  11. Hello Jostechino, welcome to TI!

First, you need 5 quality posts to download attachments, per the forum rules:

    Minimum Post Requirements (updated 7/21/12)

    • You must have a minimum of 5 posts to send a private message, download attachment, send another member an e-mail, set a custom avatar, download files from the forum download section or upload photos to a personal album.

There will be no appeals made once an administrator or super moderator has banned you permanently from this forum.

Then I'd suggest posting in svl7's Kepler thread: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1847-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks.html

  12. Thanks for the work Xonar.

Will test the GT60 bios later today. UDS 5 donation was quicker then 5 posts ;)

    a couple of question

I currently have the 10M bios (not the original 30M), but there are already a RAID option in that bios. I did not test it as my setting is not RAID. IS the for display only ?

Is that correct to assume that your modified bios isworking fine with the Beta EC released by MSI

    BETA EC for GT60 (16F3) & GT70 (1762)

    BETA EC for GT60 (16F3) & GT70 (1762)

    thanks

You can always disable RAID in the BIOS. There's no sense in having a RAID and non-RAID BIOS when all that is different is one option that is user-configurable. It's just more work for me.

I don't know about the EC, I don't have your notebook to test it with. Although, I don't see a reason for it not to work.

Thanks for the concerns, Xonar. But unfortunately i don't have any spare parts to swap for testing. What do think could be the problem? cause it all started when i enable those unnecessary setting in the advance bios, (Switchable Graphic). I thought it was just easy to reset....

A simple CMOS reset is usually the answer, perhaps try it again? It should load all settings to default.

I did flash withput any issue and was able to overclock the CPU.

I dont find the option to set memory speed. Can someone point it out ?

    thanks

Which notebook? Some notebooks don't have the Chipset tab & memory options available. If it's a 3rd gen Intel notebook then I believe that I have a work-around to the memory settings menu missing. If it's a 1st-gen notebook, you're probably out of luck (Although some 1st-gen Intel MSI's can accept the barebone BIOS which has the memory settings in a user-accessible chapter).
