  1. I recently got the 7260 for my laptop. After testing it with iperf I get 139Mbits/s throughput with excellent signal strength connected at 866 Mbps on my Netgear Nighthawk r7000. This seems pretty bad as the N450 card built into my asus desktop gets 150Mbits/s and my friends brand new Macbook pro gets 232Mbits/s connected at 1Gig in the same test. I have messed with the settings and made sure that throughput enhancement and VHT are enabled but that didn't seem to make any difference. What gives? Is the 7260 just this slow? Is there a faster card I can get for my laptop?
  2. I have a friend with this laptop and it has an issue with wireless. The wireless on off switch on the front is broken and you have to wiggle it back and forth and push on it until you can get the light to come on. When the switch is off all wireless devices get disabled. Even when you plug a USB card into it the wireless will become disabled when the switch is off. Is there a way to disable this switch in the laptop or in the OS? The issue seems to be getting worse and I am afraid that it will get to the point that it doesn't work at all.
  3. Looks like the T9900 is quite expensive on ebay. I may see if I can get a 9800 or 9600. Looks like those are going for about $100 less than the 9900. I was worried about the board in the laptop supporting the faster FSB speed of the 9xxx series.
  4. I was given this laptop and I plan on upgrading it as much as I can. Currently it has the Socket PGA478 T2330. I found online that someone had swapped a T8100 into it and it worked but I was hoping I could swap something faster into it like a T9600 or a T9800. Does anyone have any idea what would work in it or have an educated guess as to if it would work or not? It looks like the T9600 came out at the same time as the T2330 so I am hoping that one will work but it appears the T9800 came out a few months after. Should be the same socket though.
  5. I just figured you guys would know if this wireless card will work with stock 3.5. No one has been able to tell me for sure or not yet Newegg.com - Intel 7260HMW AN IEEE 802.11 Dual Band N600 Mini PCI Express Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter, 2.4GHz 300Mbps/5GHz 300Mbps
  6. If this adapter from Newegg would work I don't need anything more. There is no sense in doing something that could potentially harm my laptop that I depend on daily for work. If I modded the bios on my laptop and something went wrong and I didn't have a laptop for work the next day I may loose my job. Some people depend on their computers and can't take any chances. 7. I am not going to take a chance modding the bios on my brand new laptop. Maybe after the year warranty is expired I might give it a shot.
  8. Hi, I have been looking through the thread but there is a lot of confusing information. Wondering if this adapter will work for my y510p without any bios modding. I am on bios 3.5 Intel 7260HMW AN IEEE 802.11 Dual Band N600 Mini PCI Express Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter, 2.4GHz 300Mbps/5GHz 300Mbps
  9. Hi guys. There is so much confusing information out there that I am still unsure about the wireless cards that are accepted in the y510p. I don't care about AC I just want 5ghz N300. I have Bios 3.5 on my laptop. Will this Intel card work for me without modding my bios?
