Everything seems to in working order so far. Had no trouble flashing at all. The bios is definitely unlocked. I think all it needs now is that VBIOS patch to unlock overclocking and raise the stock clock to 950mhz from svl7, and then can be released.

Yeah, i use the fpt method. Just curious, why can't you use FPT? I haven't used another method personally, so i'm not sure how else it would be done.

Specter is the internal code name for the m14x.. they seem to have 2 Bios files on the site for me ones the current (A13) and one just seems to be an older one (A08).

@Austinwayne Still waiting to hear back from Michael, if I here nothing i will send him another message. He said he was going to get svl7 to double check the bios file, as when i had tried to flash i recieved this error (see link), so just waiting to hear back with another bios to try and test. I expect Monday or Tuesday. Pic of testing the first file and recieving an error: imgur: the simple image sharer it allowed me to continue but i didnt want to risk it as the bios file seemed to be bigger than the flash area.. so almost certainly a brick if i tried to continue.

We are currently testing A13 unlocked bios's now. After michael sends me the 2nd bios file to test, I will provide an update. The first one seemed to be too big for the flash area (I recieved an error), so they're gonna take another look as to not brick any units

all of them do, sometimes some are worse than others. its just the luck of the draw.

you would need to do the fpt method, not a blind flash.

I messaged @Michael (he did the A11 with help from svl) and @svl7 .I only got a reply from michael, and he'd say he'd look into it if i sent him a link to the bios. So message them to show your support!!

yeah ive replace the optical drive with another hard drive. and i did remove the ram cage as well, what is it even for? static protection?

I have not found any "fix" so much as bandaid. disable cpu turbo, clean vents, repaste, i've done it all. they're not fixes, rather merely bandaids.

what exactly does this new bios do? I really wish they would remove the 67 degree throttle. Whatever this is, it really doesnt seem as important.

3rd'd! It seems like A12 will be the last update, although maybe if they fix the 66 degree throttle, they'd release another one, but i doubt it edit: and of course after i say this they release A13! although there doesnt seem to be any real changes..

Yes, I've looked into that but that's more of a bandaid then a real fix. It's a pain to always be running Bat files everytime you want to game. At least I think it is. But there HAS to be a way to disable or raise this threshold, although no one seems to be able to do it. This is my reasoning for sticking to A12 as well. Even if it accidentally unplugs while on gaming on A11, it can shutdown. Which, if you havent saved in awhile, can be frustrating. With that said, I too hope the Unlocked A12 comes out soon, seeing as this seems to be probably the last BIOS for M14x R2, and it's been awhile since A12 has been out.

all i did was flash to Stock A11, from A12, and then from there went to modded A11, using the FPT method. worked for me.

this does sound like the 67 degree throttling. any news on the logs? i can replicate this issue so i can get the logs for you svl7 if you need

IIRC in the unlocked bios, all the thermal and throttling options are only for the CPU. As for the gpu throttle, I am wondering this too, i currently have no overclock as there is no point. When my gpu reaches 67, it downclocks during powerstate 0. @svl7 Any news on the 65-67 degree throttle? I've been unsuccessful going through bioses with various editors trying to find the vbios, Maybe you could shed some light?

Quick question @svl7 , is it possible for any way to raise the throttle from 65 degrees on the 650m? possibly to 80 - 90? It's a real bitch this throttling lol. edit: oops! looks like someone just asked this! Oh well, looks like i'm not the only one that wishes for it

Can anyone show me what the stock scores are? i see the OC scores you guys post but it's hard for me to tell how good it is, maybe post what gpu it matches stock vs which gpu it matches with the modded OC? thanks !

Hey svl7, any news on an unlocked bios for the R2? is it even possible?

i effed up the settings in my unlocked bios and it wouldnt boot just beeped 7 times. i just disconnected the cmos battery for a couple minutes and it ended up resetting everything. try that.
