  1. Hey do you guys know how to adjust fan curve? I have premas Bios mod flashed. My pc is in my sig. Also do you guys know the best way to limit fps in some games? I have v-sync in RIFT but it never reached 60fps so it gets up to 86c for some reason. (unigen heaven gets up to 76c after 30 mins!, why is rift so hot lol) I would like to limit fps to like 45 to give my GPU a break maybe Thanks
  2. Nice Idea Beefsticks for checking pressure on Kombuster on my 780M GTX. While running kombuster after 15 mins I got 85c. I put a little pressure on 'X4' and it instantly dropped to 73c. I also put a little pressure on the opposite corner and it GAINED 5 degrees all the way to 90c. So it looked like X4 was the culprit, (I also have tried 2 different heatsinks). Here's what I did: I got a larger washer enough to screw into and overlap onto the corner of the heatsink. so the washer was directly pushing the corner of the heatsink. Using the screw to tighten the washer down it pulled the corner down. I did this until I hit 72 degrees again. And now the screw holds the washer in place perfectly. Screw Head Silver Metal Washer overlapping onto corner of heatsink (Diagonal) This is how it went. I have been using this for 6 days now and it hasn't budged, and in both: Unigen Valley Extreme HD settings, Automatic fans, 30 mins =75c max Unigen Heaven Ultra settings, Automatic, 20 mins =76c max So I am pretty happy with my results Thanks very much for the suggestion. Soon I will deal with the back cover. Quick Question, What overclocks have you got on stock voltage with SVL7's Mod, and what Temps?
  3. Yes sorry Robbo I went a bit over detailed and off topic. Thanks for the help though, When my new heatsink arrives I will let you guys know on a new thread if your interested.
  4. Thanks for replying Robbo, turns out im stupid and those readings were from my MSI pinging my GPU. So probably normal. As to the temperatures, I got readings of the air temperature with my thermocouple on both the CPU fan and GPU fan. What I found was at 90 sensor temperature on both the CPU and GPU (Using burn in tests), the air temperature on both were within the 40-50 degrees Celsius. Seems strange that there are almost identically cooling. Obviously for me CPU temp isn't an issue as in games it barely goes over 60. But the GPU temp is my worry . If it is the heatsink problem then I guess both must be faulty in that case, am I right? Clevo make both I assume, and would explain if they sent out a bad batch as people in my situation have fixed it with a new heatsink, and as it doesn't propose an immediate danger they could have passed testing. Also I have been playing at 93 degrees for less that a week on my 780m GTX, is it dangerous in that time for that temp of is it just prolonged temps. Thanks guys. I hope I can get this sorted so I can do some reviews on this system.
  5. Hey guys is this normal? The big dip is when I opened up google chrome, and then closed it and it kept doing it :/ It's really weird, everything fluctuates at the same time. As the the issue with the heat. (Reaching 93 degrees on 99% load) It seems there were a few problems with clevo laptops at the June-November range, Think they have faulty heatsinks, as me and quite a few others have repasted several times, and find that the heat coming out the back is fairly cool at 90 degrees (Bad thermal conductivity, maybe a broken pipe) My other laptop at 60 degrees blows out hotter air :/
  6. Hey Svl7 thanks for replying, No I am just using my normal screen, It is strange, it doesn't act abnormal when playing games, just for about 1 minute on idle, When I start the PC or something, The power graph also does the same.
  7. Hey big kid It asked me the same thing on my flash. But my original bios was the same size as the one Svl7 created so don't know whats up there. Also can anyone confirm if it's normal for msi afterburner to see my GPU fluctuating from 849mhz to 135mhz every second on idle. I get a squiggly line graph. and then it levels out after a while. It does the same thing with Nvidia inspector . THanks
  8. Hey Thanks for they reply, I did tighten them up good and ended up breaking one which was a pain to get out. But I replaced the screw so that's good. I used arctic silver 5 and used a small x and put the heatsink pressure on it. I heard some people saying that the heatsink could be faulty
  9. Thanks man That clears it up. I think my GPU may be faulty, I flashed with Svl7's bios, it made no difference my gpu is at 90 degrees after 5 mins of far cry 3. I tried repasting but that didn't help, is that normal? I have no overclocking room now.
  10. Quick question, On my laptop after shutting down a game, my fans for my 780m gtx instantly stop. Is this normal? When I open nvinspector they start again, same with gpu-z
  11. Ahh I see, thanks for clearing that up for me Regarding the overclocking software, I noticed NV inspector has more features such as power modes (P0,P1,P2 etc) and Power and temperature target. Where as MSI has just Core, Memory Voltage and I think shader aswell ( I Don't see shader on NV Inspector)
  12. Ahhh Thank you Prema, my bad haha. I confused myself as I saw on your website you were working on the 780m, assumes you were talking about that. Thanks for the reply, I heard the GPU boost is disabled in Svl7's mod, what kind of advantages does that bring? What overclocking software do you recommend, I'm partial to Nvidia Inspector, but like the MSI afterburner OSD (that includes overclocking in an all in one package) Thanks for replying btw, not very busy here, at least on this thread.
  13. So Premas mod and svl's mods are different? I thought they were two flashes that did the same thing made by two different people? Also what's the situation with svl's mod? Is it compatible with latest nvidia drivers, as I have a brand new clevo. Is it worth flashing even if I don't overclock? I would gladly donate when I flash successfully and see the benefits you guys are having, Just not convinced about flashing yet as my system is brand new :/ Thanks guys
  14. Everyones card is different, If you can't reach the higher clocks on stock voltage, then try increasing the voltage ever so slightly. Keep the temp below 80 if you can, you should have a lot of overclocking room. What laptop you have?
  15. Hey, What are your temps before the crash? What nvidia drivers are you using?
