  1. Nobody? Not even those magicians like prema or svl7?
  2. Well, is nobody using VBE7 for their mobile radeon?
  3. Well, what the title says, Will VBE7 work with a clevo 8970m? I know that this tool is written for the 7xxx series but the 8970m is just an 7970m with some different ram on it and some other small things that changed. But has anyone already tried it yet?
  4. !Don't! use a 7970m bios, it will brick your gpu. You can maybe repair it with a blind flash but well, a 7970m bios just won't work on a 8970m. I was also looking for a solution to overclock the memory but i think it's not needed. The card already got 150gb/s and the 20% slower gtx770 has only 95gb/s. So i think you will gain more performance with a vbios with a higher gpu voltage and then overclock your gpu core.
  5. Prema, I mailed BTO again about what's happening with my laptop. And the answer was that the laptop motherboard and cpu both were replaced. I don't have to pay anything because they gave me extra service, so thumbs up for BTO! Normally if you have a custom bios flashed you have to pay everything but now just nothing And they think there is a chance that i receive the laptop this friday But now the big question; could the cpu actually be damaged by this bios?
  6. Well, BTO still has got my laptop so i can't give any update, i think that my laptop comes next week back.
  7. EDIT: I was a bit frustrated, but my reseller also picked the laptop up
  8. Please let me also know how it ends with your laptop
  9. So if i reflash the chip, there is a chance the motherboard still won't work? I will tell BTO about it, they even used your disclaimer on your blog to have a reason to give me no warranty! Can't you send them a message, i can give you their e-mail adres and my rma number... EDIT: Well, thank you for your answer (or your edit...), i will keep you posted.
  10. Well, it's a sad sitution for us 2 Maybe prema has got some good news
  11. Well, zylor, i had the same after i changed the baseclock ratio and it won't boot anymore, not even with a bios reset, different ram and the recovery options. @Prema: Help!!!!! BTO did reconized the your bios so they won't give any warranty, well they are saying that in normal conditions it isn't covered by the warranty but they will discuss about the warranty with clevo They think that i flashed the bios wrong and bricked the machine, but i flashed it right and the cmos just won't reset. That's a totally different problem because that is just a bad mainboard i think. I also told them that they install a different cpu/gpu but they said that they already done that. Maybe my dad can push BTO a bit because i had to flash your bios to get the machine working properly... They are also charging €50 without tax for the labour that was done to try to repair the machine. (is that explanation/sentence right?) So i think they can screw me in the most badest conditions. :(
  12. Thank you for trying to reproduce the problem. I also don't get it why the cmos won't reset... I do have experience with bios flashing, replacing capacitors, doing reflows and overclocking so i don't think i'm missing something.... I will first let them do their job and if they don't get it back to life i will ask them to replace the cpu and ram. If they say the only option is replacing the motherboard on my costs i will reprogram the chip at myself with your dumps.
  13. Well, i also was but you just have to push the flash button and look away from your screen (all those things saying erasing...) and wait for the reboot @Prema: BTO has send me a mail that they think that the bios isn't working properly and they wanted the bios that was flashed into the laptop for the last time. So i had 2 options: 1. Give them a original bios file that i never saw before (ofcourse, the stock bios from this website) and hope they will succeed with recovering but if they don't succeed i have to pay for a new motherboard. 2. Give them the modded bios file and hope they don't see it's a modded one and recover the board. I did option 2. But it keeps loading the wrong settings so they won't succeed i think...
  14. Well, the laptop is already picked up by dhl and today it should arrive at bto. I don't want remove the dGPU or something like that because it will likely void my warranty and if i break something.... But opening laptops is just designed to let it do by me because i can disassemble and assemble laptops very good so i'm not scared to open it. If they refuse to give warranty i will open it up until it works again because my warranty is already gone so i don't have something to loose But it does really looks like it wants to load the "bad" settings and ofcourse the laptop fails because the settings aren't working so it shuts down and starts again to retry the whole procedure. But first i'm going to wait what BTO is going to do with the problem. And my parents also don't like it if i open up new stuff (i do payed it all myself) of €1400 so i'm first going to do the official procedure and then i'm going to do the bauto601 procedure: soldering, shouting and disassembling until it works
  15. Well, At first, the 8970m ----> r9 m290x scam: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA i do have a 8970m so i have a free upgrade on the name I tried to boot on the battery and on the psu. On the battery it won't do a boot loop but just turn off after the first boot and if you push the power button again you get the same so that's hopeless. On the psu the laptop keeps looping until you put it of, also very hopless. I also tryed to boot with ram from my acer which is 2x4GB ddr3 1333mhz but that also doesn't work. I bought the laptop from BTO which is from N4ALL. It is the 15CL57, they don't have it on their site anymore because they have delivery problems but i think that if they put a new motheboard in it they just put a P150SM motherboard in it because they are just the same, aren't they? And thanks for the bios dumps, i hope that bto will just install a new motherboard and otherwise i will try your bios dump files
  16. Well, i'll let you know if i am going to reflash te chip with my bios flasher. I will send than the data that is on the bios chip so you can maybe look what's wrong with it and fix it so other users won't get the same issue if it a bios issue. But if you can send some working bios and em dumps then it would be great!
  17. Well, thank you prema for your email, you really care do you? The machine is still not working. Resetting the cmos for 30 minutes (pressed a few times on the power on button to remove all the electricity) doesn't work and it also doesn't start when all the hdd's and optical drive are removed. Just the same boot loop, even the backlight wouldn't power up. It also can't be overheating because i put some thermal pads on the pch to have contact with the keyboard so it doesn't gets 100 degrees celcius and i modded the gpu heatsink so it has more pressure so the gpu won't get any hotter than 80 degrees celcius. So maybe the bios bricked itself? Because it are very unusual settings... I had the quiet ec (flashed about 2 times between ec's to see which is better for mee) so i also had the right ec. If the company refuses to repair this problem because i opened it i will reprogram the bios chip with my TL866 (i have some converters) and de/resolder the chip to the motherboard with a Aoyue 968A+. It do was a very nice bios with a nice boot screen. (BTW, i'm in holland. I which timezone are you prema? And what is the timezone of techinferno?)
  18. Well, I also thought that i could do everything in the bios and if it goes wrong you can reset it, but probably not... I also tryed to replug the power cord to reset the ec but it still has the same problem. I have 1 ssd and 1 hdd in the laptop so i could try to remove them and then start the laptop. But it is very strange indeed. I overclocked almost every pc and laptop (yes, i had a aspire 5560g with unlocked multiplier ) and if it was going wrong i could reset the cmos and everything was fine again. I also read something about a corrupt nvram? I had this boot looping one time before and after reseating the ram everything was fine, but the ram would never run stable above 1066mhz and it was crucial 1600mhz ram. So it could also be a bad motherboard?
  19. That also didn't brought my laptop back to life so i'm sending the laptop rma for (i think) a new motherboard...
  20. Hello prema, I have (or had ) a clevo P157SM which i flashed with your P15xSM 1.1 bios. The bios updated fine and i could set the proper timings for my ram so, so far so good. But now i've done something very stupid... I setted the baseclock and peg/dmi ratio to 1,25 and hit the apply permanently on next boot button. The laptop won't boot anymore after this and pulling out the cmos battery for 2 minutes also won't work. (didn't have the battery and power adapter attached) Pushing 30 seconds on the power button also doesn't works and the only thing my laptop does is: Turn on *wait 2 seconds* Turn off *wait 2 seconds* Turn on Well, i think you get it, a nasty boot loop. I also tryed to recover the bios but it won't even read the usb stick, it just turns off. I also tryed diffrent ram in diffrent slots so i don't know any solutions anymore.... I'm feeling a bit sick about it because i just murdered it in 3 days......
  21. Maybe the 550M bios has different memory timings than the memory that is on the mxm board? Because i think that one of the causes of the fail of the card is that the memory isn't controlled properly.
  22. I saw in the service manual that the PCH was on the top side of the motherbord a few milimeters below the plastic under the keyboard. If you put a thermal pad between the PCH and that bit of plastic you may get a temperature drop. Plastic doesn't conducte heat very good but it's better than nothing... I think that a 10 degree drop is possible with that methode.
  23. @Prema, I downloaded that PDF file that you posted and went to page 21 where they are talking about the bclk options. And in the mobile column they say that the mobile platform also has those bclk multipliers. Would this mean that you can (in combination with your modded bios so you can increase the tdp) overclock a I7-4700MQ 25% further? That would be great! EDIT: Didn't read good, it's xm only... (it's not xm only, see edit2) EDIT2: Holy F*** I was searching thorough the document and i found also a very usable page with a list of processors (page 24) that says if they have those bclk settings or not, and the i7 4700mq *DOES* support those bclk settings and finetuning! But only with the HM87 chipset, which is not a problem because the P157SM has the HM87 chipset so when i have my laptop i will try the 125mhz baseclock and post my results here.
  24. Hello everybody, While i was googeling for some nice mods for clevo laptops i saw this forum. I registered and explored the forum and it looks like a nice forum with a great community This is going to be 2nd forum where i am going to be very active. I'm also active on tweakers (A dutch tech site) but the community is going dying. There are very much people and there is a big activity but all the people that are registered after 2011 (half the active community) don't even know where the power on button is on their new computer Bit this forum is just... awesome! The community here has brains () and there are many wonderfull mods here! The forum is also very simple to browse so it's just perfect. But this is to introduce myself so... Hello, i'm Bas from the Netherlands (living in Den Helder) and i'm 15 years old now. I'm getting within 2 weeks my P157SM notebook and i love to overclock, mod and build computers. greets, Me
  25. Thank you, so it's not a (big) problem to fix if it happens. I read on the internet that the baseclock of haswell goes in jumps so you can choose for 100mhz, 125mhz, 166mhz and 250mhz and that you can only increase or decrease the baseclock with 3mhz from those speeds. (am i explaining it good enough? I'm having a link to a webpage that's explaining it better: Haswell overclocked: the Core i7-4770K at 4.7GHz - The Tech Report - Page 1 ) Can you do this also with the mobile cpu's/chipsets or is it just for desktop cpu's/chipsets?
