I have the same issue and found a way around. Kinda. It will save you the hard reset: Set up the computer to go to sleep whenever you close the lid in battery mode. Now, if you're plugged into the power supply and open it, if the screen remains black (but the computer is actually awake, as you can see/hear by the HDD activity lights, give it a couple of seconds, then unplug it from the power supply and close it again. It will go to sleep again. Reopen it as soon as it is off, and the screen should light again. Plug it back into the power supply. Works every time for me: seems to "reset" the screen somehow. You may find better settings for plugged/unplugged maybe, this just happens to work for mine. Still, this isn't the way it's supposed to be!!! Especially on a 2000€+ machine!
