  1. @Tech Inferno Fan as promise: Here's the data from my unlucky 3720QM. x12 0.9607 12,0W x23 0.9707 20.2W x24 0.9807 21,4W x25 0,9957 22,7W x26 1.0107 23,9W x27 1,0258 25,3W x28 1,0408 27,2W x29 1,0658 29,0W x30 1,0858 31,0W x31 1,1108 33,5W x32 1,1409 35,9W x33 XXXXX > x32 x34 XXXXX > x32 - - - Updated - - - @Jefferson92 it's maybe the "initializing and estabilishing link" message?
  2. @Tech Inferno Fan : x32, with a TDP of 35,9W (IGpu low resources mode, but maybe I can do something else about that). I'll post more next week.
  3. If your main concern is to play newly released games in a few years, you should wait for Maxwell more than for Broadwell.
  4. So... after two day of tests I finally got it. It's confirmed! Gtx660 is (probably) plug and play in windows 7 ONLY. @Tech Inferno Fan please update the first page, 'cause now it's really misleading for the new users (myself included).
  5. @rhx123 so the problem is windows 8.1? Does anyone use this system with a gtx card? @Aikimox @pandaleo @invait53 @paperclip @jacobsson @Uftherr @krazyazy @phillofoc @bjorm @rhx123 @jot23
  6. I was hoping in a plug and play solution :| @krazyazy ? @Tech Inferno Fan this's my memory
  7. @Tech Inferno Fan Nothing... Boot Win8 (No EC) Enabled legacy flag Reboot F8 Windows Boot Screen Powered EGPU EC -> Hp Slot Selected Continue Normal Windows And nothing, windows starts as usual (in the laptop screen), and the Gtx660 is releved but don't work (code 12)
  8. Mmmm @Tech Inferno Fan I'm lost. How PERST# Delay works on my PE4L 2.1b? The F8 don't works. If I plug it after the login the card is reveled by windows 8.1 (driver installed) but the fans of the 660 don't spin, and the card give a resources conflict (code 12) after the reboot P.s. I'll test i7-3720QM Throttlestop next week (bt the way seems that it can keep x32 only).
  9. Hi @Tech Inferno Fan, i'm now testing the 660 on my system but I am not able to boot the card for the bios. It is really plug and play or I need to do something else? The Xps 1340 "see" the card automatically, the hp give a black screen from the boot. Thanks.
  10. It's done Modding it's a veeery different country compared to the 1340. 13 total screws instead of 42! i7-3720QM 16Gb CL9 DDR3 1600 Hdspa+Gps module RAID0 Samsung 830 Pro 128Gb ( ~8sec from power on to desktop) Now I'm waiting for the Gtx660 (Sunday).
  11. A very nice video; - - - Updated - - - @Tech Inferno Fan I was wondering if a 20x20x1.2 shim fits.
  12. Thanks @jacobsson, you're too kind, and I liked your 3d printed enclosure very much For the 1340: it is in my opinion an amazing machine that still works perfectly fine today after six+ years. I change it with the 2570p only 'cause I'd be able to pick up a very good bargain, and... you know... i was Geek-bored Unlucky I just sold my Gtx550ti, so no benchmark for it, but if you like I can test the dGPU's and the gtx660 next week, on both Dell and Hp.
  13. It's here! Nice little laptop, so much potential I'm waiting for the CPU and the Vga now (next week). P.s. Must the Copper Shim be exactly 20x20x1? I can find only 15 x 15 x 1 cm
  14. What modifications are needed? P.s: i7-3720QM bought, on the way!
  15. @Tech Inferno Fan thanks, so the 770 works pretty much the same of 760 cause the bandwidth... mmmm. If so...will this AC work with a 670 mini, right? Genuine Original Dell OptiPlex DA-2 Series 220W AC Adapter Power Supply Charger | eBay I can't decide between all the fun things to do here
  16. No secondhand. Gtx680 can outbound the 220 limit too, it seems http://media.bestofmicro.com/Y/Y/386170/original/07-Power-Consumption-Torture-Max-Values.png
  17. Mini GTX670 would be ideal but it's out of stock everywhere. I can find Mini GTX760 for 235 euros and GTX770 for 250 euro. For 15 euros of difference maybe a 21% faster card is worth of. But real-world gaming doesn't vary much between them cause the limited bandwidth or cause they are both powerfull?
  18. Ok guys, I made up my mind. Monday I will get an Asus-GTX-770-DirectCU-II-OC-2GB-DDR5 (for 250 €) and the i7-3720QM (180€). The upgrade of the RAM (16Gb 1600 Mhrz) has be posponed for now (hope I will be able to use the 8,00 Gb Corsair DDR3-1066 CL7 from my actual machine on the HP). @Tech Inferno Fan please satisfy my curiosity: how much the GtX770 will be limited in 1.2opt compared to a Gtx760?
  19. Look at this one, brand new on amazon for 230 euros ASUS PCI-E N GeForce GTX 760 DC Mini: Amazon.it: Informatica can be a good option.
  20. Ok noted, thanks. And the GPU ( Gigabyte GTX 670 OC 2 GB Review | techPowerUp )? Is it a valid Plug and play EGPU candidate with 16GbRam? Better alternatives? The price is good, i think.
