    the new Y50/40

I don't think that the Y510 had any issues on the screen, but the Y50... (see above) anyway that didn't bugged me a lot, i just wanted to see for myself Since I have't had a Y510 I only had the Y500 no sli, I am still amazed by the Y50, I probably jus had too many problems with the Y500, so the Y50 is just stunning for now. Still want to get a SSD and test the performance, i will ofourse post the results down here. Another thing that is in the waiting list is the BIOS mod, slv7 will look into it at some point, i will provide him with the acces to the pc so he can do his magic A BIOS mod i think would turn the tables a lot, because this pc is just so good at cooling! I want to see what it is capable of when it is clocked. Post me some questions if you have them, i will try to awnser them!

    the new Y50/40

Hello, so I did quite an update on the Y50. The update is the display. I switched the lenovo panel with LG LP156WF4(SP)(D1) with shipping it costed me 70.25GBP so simply I will show you the photos of the before and after... Right side is with the new panel: I used clip for guidance. It tooks me 5 minutes to replace the screen. Next update is an 1tb SSD

    the new Y50/40

So I played Crysis 3 for a bit, and on very hight settings (there is no ultra or smtng like that) i got 25-30 fps average, on Hight settings i got 45+fps average with max 67 celsius temperature. Still loving the pc. The battery is quite decent i must say, I absolutelly can use it longer than the Y500, but i will do a time test later

well, I didn't have the SLI version of y500 so I can not compare them, tre difference would only be in the grapshic performance

    the new Y50/40

Hello, so I've been using the pc quite often, and now for sure I can say that the comfortability is just the best! this is probably mainly due the thin base and the rubber coating. On the Y500 my left hand wrist always got itchy, because the edge of the pc was sharp and it hurted/ annoyed me. This si not the case for the Y50, it is jus pleasant to touch! the edge is covered in rubber also, and you barely touch it because as I said the base of the pc is thin. Aldough the rubber gets a bit dirty prom touching, it tracks the prints of the hand, but still i do not see as a big minus. Bluetooth. I have no issues with it what so ever. I use a Razer Orichi bluetooth mouse and an apple bluetooth keyboard both work at the same time and with no problems. Restarting or sleeping the pc - no difference, it still woks! Display. I actgually have no idea what my screen is but the difference in colours is visible. But actually it is not that bad when you use it. The angles are quite terrible... But the screen can be swaped with a better one: S/N: LP156WF4(SP)(D1) (link http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/755626-y50-replacement-displays-compendium-11.html#post9714914) that is all for now

Yup, the tiny led lights are on the keys themselves. I know nothing about the Y510 but the Y500 touchpad is just hilarious. Also, I can only clock Y50 for 135+, and the temperature hits 56celsius on benchmark which suprised me the most! Y500 however was on 75. I need to get this pc unlocked for more power... I will post more detailed photos when I get back from work and will try crysis. Games. I only tried Dota 2 Y500 performed poorly on stock, frames were between 40-55. When clocked it went mostly 60fps. Y50 performed excellently, non clocked = solid 60fps, no drops. (tested with fraps) Still I am amazed that this single gpu pc performs so well! Not to mention that it is a bit lighter and thinner... Secondly, the keyboard ir in a sort like uni-frame? There is no extera plastic dividing the keyboard and the restpad, also the whole thing is rubberized, I was a bit sceptical about that, but the feeling of it is just so good... But still it tracks fingerprints... Will update with photos and details: screen, battery Bluetooth etc...

Thanks for the benchmark! is your device clocked? i see that you use sli also, i added your benchmark with the others. So far loving the new PC, the screen as in other reviews is a bit washed out, but i have a matt screen instead, so no biggie. I love the looks, i love the feel of it. i like that they finally added the on/off lights on Num Lock and CapsLock keys, and i loved that the touch pad works properly (as everything else) still searching for minuses dough

So ir ran the firestrike test again: Y50 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4710HQ,LENOVO Lenovo Y50-70 Y50 clocked +135mhz http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/4100989? Y510 SLI: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/4107385 Y510 SLI clocked: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/3798428 so, anyone still thinking that it is just "slighly" faster than y500?

    the new Y50/40

heh, i would take the 14 inch screen because i use an external monitor i think the more ppl will get this pc the more stuff will come up (at least i hope so) how much did you pay for your y50 travis?
  14. savas

    the new Y50/40

Travis, is the bluetooth working and what is the main cons for you?

    the new Y50/40

the bad thing is that the vesion i want is in US and I am in EU, so the shipping and taxes will cost 400$ + :/ i wonder when EU will have more versions of the laptop

    the new Y50/40

clocked my y500 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,LENOVO INVALID and still it is 50% less than 860m
  18. savas

    the new Y50/40

by doing simple math, the difference in performance of my pc and the above one with 860m is 81.9%. Not 10%. still not worth it?

it is not only the performance wich makes me consider of selling my y500 for y50 ist the whole pc itself, The y50 supports nvidia optimus/cuda wich y500 does not, it barely runs anything on battery wich is annoyng. secondly the Bluetooth and other problems with it. I need bluetooth to work. also the screen, the y50 has the antiglare wich i think is very nice of them, and finally, the size and wight and looks of the y50 just blows me away. If i eventually will buy this laptop (in 2months or so) i will post everything i have to tell about it, it looks promising. Buch of reviews are coming up that the y50 is quite a bargan and it actually works and maybe will last longer (i have my y500 for a year now and i changed the track pad, teh buetooth sux balls my screen cable broke, the blue-ray works when it wants to work no intel graphics so no fun stuf on battery, the laptop is crap)

well I do not have a sli (cuz it is insanely rare and expensive) so it will still be better i think, also the 4th gen intel chip

    the new Y50/40

serious. y500 does not have intel graphics, so on battery it sux for games. The cd-rom randomly works irf restarted as also the bluetooth, now the screen cable broke. The touchpad was already replaced by warranty. This is not a good laptop if it does shit like this and i have to struggle to make parts of it work. I have hopes for y50 that there are no such issuses
