Yeah its the top specs offered here in AUS with a RRP $4128 while i appreciate it i really want a Dual GPU setup as i had before and to me the 3D LCD on a laptop is really not necessary on such a small screen. The rep handling the replacement has sent an email stating they are checking specs with tech support but this wait is killing me lol I have never felt so stressed about a @&%$ laptop who actually chooses specs? is it the person ringing to say replacement is approved?

Thanks excited about having a working laptop again (iPad2 is just too small) I assume with my current spec I will receive top end m18x only missing bluray burner & RGB screen

Hey my tech said it has to be approved via manager and now awaiting finance dept approval. Hoping I hear Monday and rep make laptop specs offer as there is no m17xr2 and no outlet here in Aus I guess it will be a m18x?? I have a 940xm so I guess it will be a 2960xm?

Update - waiting for approval from finance team anyone know how long this takes?

So a small update. My rep emailed me after everything and is stating there is a hold up with the parts at aus customs. He has started they are putting nvidia cards back in there to eliminate the issue reoccurring. I email him politely stating that I was upgraded to 5870m xfire because of stock issues and we are back to square one. Update 10th Nov - Still no parts (perhaps there is no more 285m SLI dell) Update - service replaced all parts to find the same problem now replacement pending approval.

They just rang 5mins ago to say the parts are on backorder 3days lol yeah right haha Another email & call to tech support arghhh!!! rang tech support again lol and the rep is saying if they request replacement it will get rejected as only 1 maybe 2 services have been done. he stated it had to be 3 of the same problem. Anyone had their replacement replaced with only 1 or two services?

I hope you guys don't mind me ranting lol. I contacted Tech support for the 10th time last night making sure i ring them every few days. Basically the guy from ANZ_Unresolved Issues has dispatched another service with the 285m GTX sli cards and as i found out again last night NO ETA. The Rep last night said the ANZ_Unresolved guy has made it a candidate for replacement i think pending repairs (which the 285mGTX won't arrive)??? They keep telling me different things but i have logged everything. I have now emailed the rep and awaiting reply but not holding my breath. ARghh!!!!! lol

I will be refusing depo service as I did will old system. They have created another service no without telling me. Replacing CPU, Motherboard, 1x GPU (a 285m which I was told they cant get anymore) fan & heatsinks. They said Monday service tech will ring. I will get service done and refuse GPU as I have 5870m in there one of which is faulty. The rep last night said after that they can put in a request for replacement as I have had all parts replaced. Currently when the laptop is idling the screen goes all garbled, freezes and fans max. Gpu 1 hit 110c omg!

So an update i got a response back from the email from ANZ_Escalation Rep. He said "we are not able to offer you a replacement or refund since this system is already close to 1 year old" umm you have before i have emailed him back asking for brand new cards or replacement. They have automatically organized another repair. I also rang dell tech support but they said as it has only been repaired once they can only send out parts again. I said a previous rep told me there is no ETA on cards and they are on backorder (also he confirmed 285m SLI are not made anymore hence upgrade) said he would check on date and give me a call. I stated this was a replacement and original was fixed 8+times. Have also tweeted to @dellcares but not sure if that will help as i'm in AUS. Do i need to accept another repair? how many before they replace if not fixed?

covered until end of 2013 so glad i extended warranty talk about timing. this unit is a new build and only 8months old. Love the RGB screen!!

unfortunately no this is driving me mad i haven't heard from dell either and not sure if i should wait or ring again.

Yes Sometimes just restarts. other times i have to unplug PSU from the wall.

Just loaded up Black Ops and laptop sitting on desk (back up a little) game started got to the very first shooting bit and laptop powers off! tried a second time and again powers off. does this sound like faulty cards? CPU, Motherboard??

Thanks well i have tested machine a little last night and the 5870m are great cards however they a getting hot (85c) and CPU is idling at 60c and crossfire keeps dropping out (clocks on GPU2 stay @ 300mhz) Getting restarts while playing a game (no BSOD) for 10mins & also in benchmarks. I asked the service rep if had had worked on one of these machines before and guess what he said no. I had to guide him through pulling it apart haha when he put the machine back together he first taped the xfire cable to the mb (not ontop of the metal casing) I have email tech support "unresolved technical issue escalation" and stated nicely i want it fixed or replaced. Hopefully someone will ring today.

Hey all thanks my m17xr2 is already a replacement if they don't fix by Monday i will push for it. This is the first problem i have had with this unit. My old XPS m1730 had about 10 repairs before replacement to the m17xr2. How does the RGB vs 18x LCD Compare? What was wrong with your m17xr2 mw86? update: The service tech is replacing parts now they have sent 5870m x2, MB, Fans & Heatsink. Cards are refurbished as expected so will see if this fixes it.

well 6th call and spent 1hr+ on the phone followed your advice they have no stock of any 285m SLI or 5870m xfire and i said if no stock and you can't give me a ETA i want a replacement. Dell rep put me on hold for 25mins and found some 5870m's from another customer??. she said i should have it fixed by no later then Monday next week. how is that for NBD haha over 1 week.

Having trouble with my machine overheating, throttling & touchpanel works on and off. Logged with dell and they are going to replace motherboard, graphics cards, heatsinks & touchpanel. called dell today and graphics cards are on backorder and they are saying a few days (from m1730 days i don't think this will be the case) 2 calls today and they can't give my an exact answer when i will have my machine working again. they have requested different parts so they say (5870m) but when i check service no online & case its only showing "customer initiated call". this is a replacement system should i email rep that processed order for this machine? logged on the 28th and still no parts today (2nd). have called them 5 times but no rep can give me any info on ETA just keep saying service tech will call in 1 day. Also they gave me a case no & service call no. the service call,tag etc doesn't show anything under support history on dell.com & case no shows a case with open-assigned. The last rep i talked to said they can't swap parts for different ones (even though i now they can and have before for me with my old system) like for like he quoted. Should i just be patient? or should i email the person that replaced machine? reaching 100c on CPU and getting hard shutdowns (sometimes just sits at 100c and freezes)

multis were standard 25x?? if on 26 it crashes instantly

Hey mw86 was running 5% +0mv & now 3% +0mv CPU has been pasted & adjusted too maybe not well enough. I am concerned as CPU was idling @ 44c a couple of weeks ago and did a wpime32 run of 7.299 but now 55c idle and 99c??? with throttlestop if i run 85/75 i get that BSOD if i run Vantage or 3dmark06. i may reinstall win7 etc tonight and see what happens

i have had hard shutdowns before but has anyone seen this BSOD? i thought maybe because of Nvidia using more power and 940xm CPU it maybe at the 240w threshold??? which would result in throttling hence fps drop. Realtemp was recording 100c on 2 cores so maybe a little out? btw laptop is clean of dust and i alway take get care of the laptop

Hey all thanks The vertex 3 is on 2.15 i have read all about that. the 940xm is at 3% o/c currently and thats why i have a xm so i can overclock lol idles around 55 to 60c. Do you think its the Nvidia cards causing issues as they use more wattage then ATI? i just want to play dirt 3 without it dropping fps and micro-stuttering
