Vbios probably locked, try ATIFlash, boot from usb and use: atiflash -unlockrom 0 (where 0 is your adapter id, it's likely 0, but to be sure use "atiflash -i" first)

It's a capacitor, actually. Hence the "C", the resistors are "R". Just solder in a new one, it's not absolutely necessary, but it helps to stabilize current. It is, of course, not a very good sign ... check if any other are missing; they don't vaporize into thin air without reason.

The black pcb alone is not conclusive, neither are the part numbers on the back; these all refer to the full card. The only way to be certain is, unfortunately, to look for ENG on the chip itself ... not even "atiflash -ai" command will help, it gets its information from the vbios.

yoshey791, care to send me (or upload) this Mythlogic 7970m vbios? Got several versions now, but only 3 of which are certainly non enduro, yet they are rather old (and perhaps buggy hdmi), so am hoping this Mythlogic is a bit more up to date.
