  1. Awesome review! Very well made and write. Very educative too. Hope Michael Dell will get to read it... or, at least, take in consideration SERIOUSLY that:
  2. This is the way a real tutorial must take. +1 I hope someone will pick the idea of making a special folder to congregate tutorials like this so others can have easy access to them without searching and researching among the forums pages. (I think, maybe I'm confusing things, that Joker started something like this somewhere but. I forgot where it was).
  3. Maybe it just depend on what someone do with the screen besides gaming?
  4. We too don't use it 'outside': we use our laptops in a lab environment, very illuminated of course, and in classrooms, conference rooms where we must keep lights on to see the faces and the eyes of our students.
  5. Hope you will do. But this poll can be somehow limited... There's my question: do someone know and can point us to some reliable stats? with a significant sample? I have my own 'sample' reading many forums but I have been unnable to find reliable stats. Some magazine, seem to be a serious one, has published the results of such a poll but there aren't the data relative to this poll: how many samples, etc. I have heard of a poll made by Lenovo and another by Apple... but they keep the 'secrets' of the relevant data... all of them seems to be in favor of the matte panel but, without the relevant data... the poll is useless for any puposes. They just give us an 'impression' of a reality.
  6. Maybe "they" are starting to understand that you are the kind of customer that know what he's talking about?
  7. So, we are in the same 'boat'... (which I could be too in the NYC part of it, so I can be with my beloved daughter ) Do someone have any substantial stats on how many prefer matte screens over glossy ones? It can be interesting (and not just for us).
  8. and not IPS... In sum, it imposse sever limitations for one that needs beside gaming, to do some high quality graphic and media work... Really I love the design the dual GPU option, etc. but the real turn down for me and my fellow colleagues is the display. Else we all were massively buying it. Then, we still are seating on the fence...
  9. Definitely the screen is "the weakest link in the chain…" It’s keeping many of us, potential buyers, from close the deal…
  10. Your always can use the old SRS SandBox and believe me... It give you 5.1 amazing sounds from a laptop (in games as in movies).
  11. By MSSE you mean: "Multiple Self-Healing Squamous Epithelioma"?
  12. Thanks webabt007! Definitedly, it seems to me (specially in the red blood cells and in the green spill) that the gamut is really better in the 17xR1... and also the definition of shadows, texture and details in general. It seems (at least to me) more than just gamma and brightness...
  13. ...and I would like to see it in Hue=160/Sat=240/Lum=31 (or R=0/G=0/B=66)...
  14. Thanks for those beautiful pics! Please can you make one more comparative of the two displays side by side with the same background/or game pic in them? (and, if it's not too much: a comparative of the resolution of two identical objects in each one of them?) Thanks in advance!!!
  15. Maybe I sound naive but I pray for a new screen option (RGB-LED, IPS, ?) toghether with the potentialy forthcoming GPU's... As long as we can dream it or believe in it, the land of fantasia will continue to exist…
  16. Maybe that's the reason why Dell is taking so much money to pop them 4 you... Sorry Joker to hear about those tabs... Knowing how experienced you are... it's, at least, affrighting for the rest of us...
  17. Sorry Brian, this is the address: Amazon.com: 3 lb. Capacity Telescopic Magnet Pick-Up Tool w/ LED Light: Home Improvement
  18. This can be your tool... just in case: http://www.amazon.com/Capacity-Teles...bxgy_hi_text_c
  19. Dear Brian, I know the mentioned portal. Many years ago I post there some 'ideas'. I even saw other very good ideas there... What I don't see is serious considerations / answers from Dellienware... They don't reveal a readiness to survey the ideas and publish their considerations or rejections fundaments. This kind of 'discusions' or elaborations on ideas or hypothesis is a must to break to closed circle where ideas are posted but the reactions to them are close to zero... If they do really respect some of the ideas they can open a "lab" (even a virtual one) for prototipe those ideas (and experiment with some of them) with the participation of the posters /and or consumers... Many makers do so openly. Some universities (like Texas's Austin, or MIT, Haifa's Technion, etc.) offer many facilities for this purposes.
  20. I do hope so!!! Also I hope Dellienware will open a chanel (social survey?) to listen to the market and the consumers and finally decide to add, toghether with the RGB-LED (and or + IPS) a MATTE configuration option... OR they can (finally) use their 2 brain hemisferes to design and provide a so called "Snap-In/Snap-Out" Edge2Edge cover for the people that enjoy glossy (and the look of their own faces...). It will be a good bussines for them and a very good option for us. Brian, Michael, StamatisX, Ashtefere and all the others: I'm new here. It has been a long time I wanted to join this forum but for working reasons haven't the time for it. Now, finally I'm here to learn from the posters. Congratulation Brian for all your efforts here!!!
