  1. Nice country. It is small enough to meet anyone in any place in one day. I just burrowed it from him. Big thanks to "haru" from korean alienware forum. Gonna test that card in m18x r2.
  2. Yeah I would love to. But it's not me who succeeded. He did it and he said he can't nvflash -b. Some error .. he said. - - - Updated - - - Oh I thought I did. I am really sorry about that. I sent a mail to you and Mr. Fox and John that I had to return the card to clevo. Mr Fox did reply to me. Guess the mail didn't reach you. My big apology for that. - - - Updated - - - No idea. As I said above, it's the nvflash that flashed not me. Maybe it didn't like me Not possible to flash it with current nvflash maybe?
  3. Minor update : My friend from Korean Alienware Forum just succeeded posting 980m with AW17 3D model without optimus. His card was different from the one I've tested. Mine was 84.04.22.00.12. His is 84.04.22.00.10 (P04 B-oard) I've tested that vbios but mine didn't work. I dont know what made his 980m work. My best guess is that I didn't flash the card properly (or current nvflash can not flash the card properly) or the "P04 B-oard" is the one that works. (I dont know what p04 board means though) Not tested in AW18 or m18x R2. Add-note 1st (from left) : did not work without optimus. vbios 84.04.22.00.10 / board version n16E-GX v2.4 2nd : did not work without optimus. vbios 84.04.22.00.12 / board version n16E-GX v2.1 3rd : worked without optimus. vbios 84.04.22.00.10 / board version n16E-GX v2.1
  4. Why dont you try to flash your 780m with svl7's unlocked vbios. I think you've done quite right. It maybe vbios that's the problem. Where did you buy your 780m from?
  5. Search Core i7-3740QM Processor&gpuName=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M I dont know what these results mean. But some ivy system is able to run 980m. And I think these are results of pxx0em (150 170 370). - - - Updated - - - Hope someone can test and if you do in any case, please let me know.
  6. Please dont post any unrelated topics. You are going too far. Monitor frequency and memory clocks are not the topic this post was made for.
  7. Oh I see. "Delidding" is the word! It surely is needed.
  8. Stock 4.4 haswell = 4790k That's like more than 100w when the cpu is highly loaded. I dont know how you guys call it in English but 4790k must need to be "spreader-opened" to change the stock thermal grease to a nice one such as liquid pro.
  9. I think for you Mr.Fox, p375sm-a or p570wm looks good. p375sm-a with 4930 or 4940mx and 980m sli. p570wm with 6 core CPU or even 8 core and 980m sli. These two are the high-end laptop from clevo. P770zm or p771zm is a single GPU laptop with desktop CPU and from what I heard from Korean clevo resellers, they are having a hard time to cool 4790k (which is the best CPU for it at the moment) at stock clock. I dont think you, the master of laptop, would like it.
  10. For me, liquid pro was the best and I am using it for about two years. I dont think anything can match this due to its physiochemical component.
  11. Can anybody explain the difference between p375sm and p375sm-a other than CPU and GPU specs? Someone whom I know, bought 980m sli (p375sm-a) and he complains that CPU can't hold clock during 3dmark11. Another friend of mine who had p375sm upgraded his p375sm to 980m sli doesn't have this problem. He can even OC his CPU to 4.2 x 4 cores and still his CPU hold that clock during 3dmark11. Both using 4900mq and 980m sli with stock everything including PSU, bios..etc.
  12. I just returned my 980m to the Korean Clevo Reseller. It was my honor to test it for alienware compatibility. Personally, I think I've done many things a "non-computer worker" like myself can do with it. For future enthusiasts who may want to test it further, I will summarize things that I've done and the results of it. - All tests were done with clevo 980m card. It worked perfectly as single and as SLI in clevo p375sm. - I've tested two clevo vbios (v10, v12) and one MSI vbios (v0A). - Tested alienwares are m17x R4, m18x R2, AW17 and AW18 with one 980m. - For AW17 and AW18, since there is no unlocked bios all I could do is just enabling or disabling iGPU using Fn+F5. And a few bios version were changed during the tests. - For m17x R4 and m18x R2, unlocked bios and stock bios were both tested. And unlocked A03 bios was tested too. - In m17x R4 and m18x R2, I've changed "virtually everything" in the bios to see if there is any change : on/off sound and iGPU, set primary disaplay as SG and PEG. - Both uefi and legacy were tested. Results : 8 beeps whenever I disable iGPU. My journey with 980m is over for now. I am not going to buy one for myself before any solid success from trustworthy person because I know how it will behave on alienware. The best solution would be Dell or NVIDIA making a stock vbios/bios that will allow us to use it. But I doubt they will do. I really hope someone would make a solution. Too bad I am a med doctor not a computer programmer. The 980m that I've tested should have been tested by someone like svl7, prema, johnksss or Mr Fox. I couldn't send it to any of them because I am in Korea and it is not mine. I am really sorry about that. Good luck to those who are still testing it.
  13. I do not know if they succeeded or not. But "in stock ...blah blah" has been there from the begining before they even knew 980m would not work with stock vbios. - - - Updated - - - I dont know who succeeded but someone just did. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8962412 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8962389 It was done yesterday. (in my timezone, the day before yesterday) No secondary GPU shown, meaning no optimus. Alienware 068R5X = AW17, meaning we dont need unlocked bios for it. = just PNP or very easy to make it work The days of darkness has gone. God bless Alienware. Now, can someone get that vbios?
  14. 84.04.22.00.10 84.04.22.00.12 84.04.22.00.0A were vbios that I've got and tested. All failed.
  15. Well actually I am using clevo 780m, two of them, with unlocked vbios by johnksss & svl7, in my m18x R2 and m17x R4 without a single problem. It was pnp. I dont know what happened to you
  16. That's right. If dell releases 980m mxm. This issue will be solved very easily. But if it releases 980m on-board (4gb) or does not releases at all, SUPERMAN has to solve this.
  17. @johnksss Hello. There isn't many people who own both alienware and 980m right now, I guess. Your suggestion, to me, is making m18x R2 work as optimus. I am pretty sure it will work in that manner. I am more curious why you suggested the method. What does it mean if it works or does not with your method. I really dont see any difference between your-method-done-m18x R2 and optimus-enabled-m17x R4. Can you please explain what is difference or what could the results of your suggestion mean?
  18. Yeah only one 980m can work as optimus. Optimus and Sli dont work together. Yeah you're right. - - - Updated - - - That picture was done with optimus right?
  19. That's how I nvflashed in m17x r4. So I think it should work. The method you suggested was not tested in m18x r2 but I think that will allow m18x r2 act as optimus. So it should work. - - - Updated - - - Too bad he didnt read my post b4 buying two 980m. There is no way right now to make it work as sli. Only optimus makes it work. Try what Johnksss suggested. That method makes 18r2 run as optimus.
  20. Two years ago, I failed to upgrade my m17x R3 with clevo 7970m. You maybe right but how the world can dell block maxwell when maxwell wasn't even released. I think there is something in vbios not bios. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4710HQ,Alienware 0146Q8 This is a recent 970m 3gb (board-type) Dell bench result. I think they are doing something
  21. You can not use 120hz LCD as 60hz in AW17 or m17x R3,R4. The port is different.
