G75VW - HOW TO BOOT W8/HDD or LINUX SSD ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I own a G75VW with Windows 8 on the 750Gb Hdd and Kali Linux (pentesting solution based on Debian 6).

How please to tweak or configure the bios as I may boot either on the Hdd or the Ssd?

I will pay a little contribution for the solution.....

Not sure if there is anyway to do this through the bios, only thing I can think of is just manually choosing a boot device when you power on your computer.

The quickest way is to access the boot selection menu (instead of the BIOS setup). Tap or hold the Esc key until the prompt comes up; you can select which drive from there. By doing this, you don't need to rearrange the boot order in BIOS, you simply pick the drive to boot from.

From 2014 onwards Kali has supported UEFI booting, if you upgrade your Kali instance you can dual boot via grub-efi package.

Windows boot loader should also at this point be able to detect Kali.

You need to disable secure boot in the bios however.
