MSI GT60, GTX 675m (Died), please help...

Recommended Posts

I sent my laptop (MSI GT60-0ND) to check up and the video card was confirmed dead, I learned that I can upgrade my GPU, but I can't take a step without any help. Many told me its risky and the market is tight.

http://www.compeve.com/video-cards/mobile/pny-nvidia-geforce-gtx-680m-2gb-mxm-video-card-89v00664-m

^I found this card, GTX 680M, and it looks absolutely the same one as (GTX 675M) and the slot is compatible, however due to reviews, the 680M is way faster than my previous one, if that poses any threat. If someone can check it for me and tell me whether its good or not, I'd appreciate it.

Hello

At first You need some Eyeglasses, the GTX 680M looks different.:-)

In the Picture You can see the different Heatsinks for Nvidia Cards.

The Price for the Card is to high, for this Price You can find sometimes cheap GTX970M.

in Your GT70 You can use every NVIDIA Card up to GTX 1060.

But for the different GPU Generation You need also different Heatsinks or modified

Heatsinks.

Upgrading with the right Heatsink is normally very easy,if the Card is not from MSI You must Flash the MSI Vbios.

Thank you for raising my awareness on this situation, ill be providing pictures as soon as I can, and it is a GT60 not GT70, I don't know the difference though.

Thanks again!

Okay I was able to safely disassemble the laptop and took pictures of my gpu and it's heatsink.

Looks like I'm getting another 675m, although I'm confused on whether I should buy from eBay or somewhere else.

      Hello Everyone!

I have problem with VBIOS/EEPROM(?) after installing of a GTX1060 N17E-G1-A1 GPU NVIDIA Graphics Chipset (old one has temp. damages).

I  modified new 416  and old 391 nvmii.inf file and try to install drivers, but every combination gave me no success. There is only yellow triangle in  Windows Device Manager :|
Is there a way to bring my card to life?

Hey guys, I am Grga and i am new here. I rarely use forums but i am desperate in this case.
So, as i have seen many of you have had the issue with obsolete BIOS versions for clevo P7xxZM machines,
So i would like to hear your experiences and how you went about it.
I have recently bought an ssd Samsung 970 PRO NVMe M.2. From which i would like to boot the windows10.
Little did i know that there was no support for that kind of protocol in the BIOS or that there is such thing as UEFI (for which i am still not sure what that is exactly, except some kind of successor of BIOS).
So i did a bit of research and updated my Bios and ec to 1.03.15 and 1.03.09 respectively for which i understand is the last available official release. I changed to uefi mode with secure boot disabled etc... in short i did everything that my (limited) knowledge about these things allowed me to do (and the sweat of excitement and fear when i was flashing the bios for the first time in my life). But, alas, it all yielded no success,  and now i am lost. I have really no idea what to do, and whom to ask for help except for you guys here. The only thing that i understand worked for some of you is when you mentioned a wizard named @Prema so therefore i will try to do the same....

Hello, I'm on an alienware m17 r4 and am trying mod my vbios for a 970m 3GB msi. I've managed to get the max boost with an increase in voltage, however I believe my voltage settings maybe unstable. When attempting to load programs capable of high gpu usage capabilities, the gpu begins to become pretty unstable. would anyone be able to provide assistance? I have both my edited and original roms as well.

I'm not sure how to delete this thread but disregard this please. I've figured out the issue.

      Hello everyone!

So on occasion I host gaming nights over at my house, and usually end up hooking my laptop up to a big TV so me and a couple friends can all play all kinds of multiplayer games (either emulated or off of steam).

But I was recently thinking that it would be fun to get a projector set up, so that we could play on a huge blank wall in my living room.

With that being said: I'm new to purchasing projectors, so I'm not familiar with what kinds of features/specifications I should be looking for (and I'd like to keep the cost down if it's possible).

So I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me on what to look for in features/specifications, affordable places to buy from, or just general info on what I'm trying to do.

Any help would be super appreciated!
