henriquebelaz
Hi!I have a Clevo W650SJ and noticed my GTX850M is identical to a GTX950M.I'd like to know if is there anyway I could mod it by flashing a different VBIOS to turn it's device ID into it's sucessor.I have already tried injecting 950M VBIOS into my BIOS file, but it still showed up as 850M.Have also tried to flash W650SC (the same notebook with the 950m) and it went through, but the graphics card isn't automatically recognized by Windows and just after modding .inf files I could get nvidia drivers installed (but still didn't work, got error 43 or something like this in device manager)Could you guys give me some info about this possibility?Thank you a lot! Guest
The motherboard/mxm resistor setup decides about the ID since GTX6xxM generation of cards, a vBIOS can no longer change that...Also in general better don't use the vBIOS from other systems for any onboard GPU (only MXM), there are too many hardware differences as they all use custom designs. If you want 950M performance in a 850M best is to just bump the clocks in the existing vBIOS.
