GT70 0NC-008US Crappy Microphone Quality

Has anyone found a way to get decent sound quality using the internal mic on the GT70?

It's always been low volume or high-hiss with gain (and still low volume).

I found a thread saying it's best to just uninstall the Realtek Audio Drivers and use the default Microsoft ones.

I did that and found that the volume increased significantly but there is a still a lot of room noise, and the option to

cancel out room noise is gone. Also, not having the extra options of the Realtek Control Panel sucks.

Anyone out there with a solution?

I and my two other friends also have this issue with our 1762 (a gt70 barebone variation from xoticpc), our solution was to get external microphone, we ended up all getting the same SteelSeries Siberia Microphone for about $25usd off ebay, you just clip it to the headset cable and plug to the computer and forget about it.

We had to get something external as no matter what we did our experience proved that the internal microphone is nothing but complete garbage

I looked for the microphone now at ebay and only found one listed for $50usd which is.. twice as much that you should be paying
