Hi guys ,

past 3 months i have been trying to fix my lenovo y 400 . It first had a ssd problem after 10 months from date of purchase . i sent it back to USA under warranty . I had talked to them on phone and they said they have changed mother board , SSD , reimaging etc . I got it back from US this march and right from that day there were graphic card issues it started from "display driver not responding".

I did everything to fix it downgraded to win 7 - did not work UEFI/legacy

re-installed drivers a zillion times

installed various linux OS distros - did not work - Legacy

later I was convinced that there is some issue with graphic card or problem with power management

So only thing left is to unlock the BIOS

current BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 6BCN43WW(V2.03), 23/04/2013

is it alright if I flash it using windows 8 / or should I be on 8.1 (couldn't update blank screen up on boot)

I will go through SVL7's thread on how to unlock y400 bios hoping it would fix this .

If its unsuccessful then is it possible to make it work by purchasing lenovo removable graphics card GN36 and run it under SLI?? because motherboard replacement is costly and I may need to send it back to USA since this model is not supported in my country :/

Please let me know if there is something i did not try ?

best,

shashi
