  1. I would agree with you if i had used my graphic card but right from the day they i got it back from warranty I did not use it :/ they told me it was a new motherboard :/ and it happens irrespective of the power cable plugged in or not . Earlier i used to experience lag when not plugged in while playing battlefield 3
  2. Hi guys , past 3 months i have been trying to fix my lenovo y 400 . It first had a ssd problem after 10 months from date of purchase . i sent it back to USA under warranty . I had talked to them on phone and they said they have changed mother board , SSD , reimaging etc . I got it back from US this march and right from that day there were graphic card issues it started from "display driver not responding". I did everything to fix it downgraded to win 7 - did not work UEFI/legacy re-installed drivers a zillion times installed various linux OS distros - did not work - Legacy later I was convinced that there is some issue with graphic card or problem with power management So only thing left is to unlock the BIOS current BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 6BCN43WW(V2.03), 23/04/2013 is it alright if I flash it using windows 8 / or should I be on 8.1 (couldn't update blank screen up on boot) I will go through SVL7's thread on how to unlock y400 bios hoping it would fix this . If its unsuccessful then is it possible to make it work by purchasing lenovo removable graphics card GN36 and run it under SLI?? because motherboard replacement is costly and I may need to send it back to USA since this model is not supported in my country :/ Please let me know if there is something i did not try ? best, shashi
  3. HI , Even I'm facing the same issue, same model :/ please help me how to fix this !!!!
  4. I have Problem with my nividia 650 gt GRAPHIC card on my y400 .. Can you please shed some light on it I have been experiencing the nvidia video driver not responding error (code 43) for quite a long time now . I have tried everything on the internet so far to fix it and failed installing new drivers changing OS almost all linux distros : / as well but its no use the system would lag and stuck if i enable video card . So currently i'm working on microsofts basic display driver :/ I cannot use my integrated intel graphic card either it cannot be detected . What are my options now ? replacing the motherboard seems costly !! would bios unlock help ?? or if i get the y400 Removable Graphics GN35 and use it as SLI?? I have already replaced my mother board , ssd under warranty when i had ssd issues(IRST) . After replacement they must have given me a defective graphic card or there must be some BIOS related or Power related issues since I live in INDIA and laptop is from USA .I could not revert them back since my laptop came back to me (in INDIA) after warranty period. Really appreciate if you could help me on this.
  5. Hi Sergooish, Does optimus work on y 400 ?? . If Yes could you please let me know how ?
  6. Hi , Did u use Lenovo Power Management tool . It has a option to stop charging after 60 % even though the laptop is plugged in . Doing this helps to increase battery life sapn . Also try using the intel on board graphics instead of NVIDIA when doing laptop for normal routines saves quite a bit of power . But I suppose NVIDIA optimus should be enabled toswitch between graphic cards which is locked by our manufacturer.

  8. Hi, I would suggest you to please go for Think Pad Workstation . The latest model is around 1100 dollars which is I'm telling you worth every penny. I myself own a lenovo y400 and have a very bad experience replaced once and now facing graphic card issues . Regret not taking the robust durable performing Thinkpad.
