P370SM problem shutting down/restarting

Hi there i'm a new owner of clevo p370sm and i have big issues since day 1 i'll try to explain:

gpu:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M

ssd:120gb

cpu:Intel Core i7-4800MQ

ram:2x8gb pc3-10600s-999-1333mhz ddr3 1.5v(in the beginning) and now KTT-S3l/4G ddr3l 1x4gb1600mhz 1.35v

Well in begining the laptop won't even boot since the first try and i manage to boot it only if i remove the cmos battery every time but it was restarting/shutdown properly.I then flashed bios with official bios a few times with different versions because every time i flashed bios it wouldn't shut down or restart properly , it was just hanging there and required manual shut down.. After talking with some people on another forum they make me realize that the ram i was using should be ddr3l 1.35v 1600mhz and not ddr3 1.5v 1333mhz, so i decided to buy some ddr3l to test and see.. i bought the ram yesterday and of course no luck the same problem is still there.. After a lot of searching i realized(correct me if am wrong) that it has something to do with the ec2 chip that maybe it does not exist because my motherboard is old.. so i tried flashing stock bios from prema mod and it freezes (twice so far) when trying to identify and install ec2 chip utility something :) when the a blue screen appears and say "UPDATE" with huge letters if you understand what i mean. i then manual shut it down and thank God it still working lol...

I got really confused and don't know what to do anymore. I have enough experience with computers but i think this is as far as i can get.

Please shed some light to this pour soul hehe..

These developer boards not only have no EC2 but also some strange EC behavior.

Please try THIS stock BIOS. (Follow the readme)

(Mind if your system decides to hang during a flash it may brick)

i already tried it before. I am sure about it. not with the new ram though..Ok i'll try and get back to you

it flashed ok but then i needed to remove cmos battery to be able to boot.. The problem is still there.. is there anything else i can do?

thank you for your reply by the way

Bios version: 1.03.03

Kbc/Firmware Revision: 1.03.01

also please tell me if i can use the 1.5v ram i have thank you

Just to make sure: You did the "MEset" step and it automatically rebooted before you proceeded with "FlashMe.bat" right?

If you did that, then try to take the BIOS battery out and see if the system works properly as long as being on AC Power. If it does, then replace the BIOS battery.

If it doesn't then RMA the Notebook.

1.5v RAM is usually no problem.

Yes i did and it rebooted with "meset" step. and also shuted down after bios flash. I tried removing the battery too but there is no difference.. The problem is that i supposed to have guarantee but seller told clevo that i voided warranty by installing wrong ram and flashing wrong bios. He clearly has no clue of the junk he sold me.. I will never buy anything from ebay again.. I'm thinking to flash modded bios but i don't really thing is a good idea..

Yeah he already did. i opened case in ebay and they closed it in his favor. I thing is better if i buy new motherboard rather than sending it to clevo it will cost me almost the same if not less, and maybe i can find a newer/better one..

If it doesn't contain an EC2 then it is a development board, which means it is not allowed to sell it in the first place. Most of these boards have freezing errors.

Get that confirmed by Clevo or an authorized technician and re-open the case.

I can also see if I can find an old EC which was made for dev boards, which should not cause freeze.

Thank you for your concern, please do that, along with some guide how to change chip. I think i can handle that, as far as concern the case there is no way as far as i know to be reopened, and also there is no authorized technician from clevo in my country. I already sent email to clevo 3 days ago, no respond yet..

can someone tell me how i can check myself if it is a development board? also maybe there is an ec2 chip defective? i'm thinking how could it have guarantee if it was a development board? can someone point me where to look?

A development board will just hang at the blue window during the EC2 flash and not proceed.

You could also check the motherboard revision behind the RAM under the bottom cover.

i found a sticker on ram slots that says v 2.0 along with a serial,i also checked with cpu-z :

chipset: intel hashwell rev.06

southbridge: intel HM87 rev:02

does that says anything?

I also realized that i updated bios only in the beginning but i'm not quite sure about it or what version i flashed first..

Take the RAM out, the revision is printed on the board below.

There is no question that it is a dev board. If it hangs at EC2 flash then it doesn't have one.

Only dev boards do not contain EC2, because they decided to add it only later just before final production.

It is on the production models. The second place where they print the mobo revision is below the keyboard, but you will have to remove the entire top part of the housing to be able to see it.

if you mean to remove just the keyboard i did and i couldn't find it anywhere, if you mean to disassemble the entire upper part then it is a bit more difficult :) but thanks anyway

I would do it though if it would help me fix the problems i have. isn't there any software for that?

You need to remove the entire top portion, then again there maybe no prints on that board at all as the one below the RAM on the bottom is not present either.

I don't know what the Southbridge is supose to be on the final shipping boards, but on my W230ST it is revision 5, while yours is 3.

Apart from that there is no other prove possible just via software.
