ZigZag Master
Hey there, I just picked up a m17x r4 with 7970m. I also own a Asus G75VX with 670MX video. My plan was to see which I liked best and sell the other. Both Machines have the same 3630QM cpu. Both machines have latest drivers.I have the 670MX OC'd to +135 core and +750 memory via Afterburner. - Bandwidth is under 100.The 7970m is at stock clocks. Bandwidth is 153.I was under the impression that the 7970m is light years ahead of the 670MX, but I am just not seeing it. FPS in games is 1-2 frames better in almost all cases.I have heard that there are problems with Enduro, but not sure if this is what I am running into. Also, small issue...GPUZ will not load on the Dell for some reason.Any ideas? Robbo
The 7970M is significantly faster than the 670MX, but you can overclock the 670MX to very close to stock 7970M performance. That's what I did with my 670MX, but had to flash the modded vBIOS from svl7 to remove the +135MHz restriction on the core. As you can see from my sig, it's overclocked really well. Not that far off stock 7970M or 680M performance now.Check your temperatures to make sure the 7970M is not overheating & throttling, because should be quite a few more fps than your 670MX. Depends which game you play, some cater better to NVidia than AMD, and vice versa.
