M14x R2 Windows 8, USB Modem not detected.

Recommended Posts

My USB Modem, for some reason, Does not work/is not detected after installing.I checked device manager, and found; under the Other devices, there are four Usb Modems there with the yellow exlamation marks/Yellow hazard or whatever you call it. "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" Is written under the device status. I did several un-installing and re-installing, In safe mode, switching the compatibility to windows 7, But no success. Im pretty sure the Usb sockets are working perfectly fine and so is the modem.( Its working on my Macbook pro 13" Osx 10.7.2 Mountain Lion and Win 7)

On the other hand,Still on the Device manager, under Intel WiUsb, The Usb-IF xHCI USB HOST CONTROLLER has also the yellow mark. " This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device" is written under the device status. I ran the Intel driver update utility. After analyzing my computer,I clicked Intel Wireless Display software. I was told that "An Intel device was detected but your operating system is not supported by this utility. Please visit download center to look for available software." I did some reasearching and found that by installing Intel WiDi 3.5 or higher will solve the problem. I'm currently Downloading the driver right now..

Anyway, Is the Intel WiUSB somehow connected with the modem issues?Probably not? And how would I make it work? Thanks and Good day. :)

Depending on age there may not be a Windows 8 driver for it. I have a 802.11g USB dongle that won't work with anything newer than XP. "compatibility mode" doesn't work for drivers.

Try looking on the manufacturer's site for updated drivers, if that doesn't work post the model so we can check it out.

P.S. Also try every single port on the notebook.
