Shut Downs

I have an M17x which is about 18 months old. Recently it has started "shutting down" at random times, sometimes it runs for hours before it happens, sometimes on about 30 minutes but never less than that, it only seems to happen when playing World of Warcraft (although there is little else I use this computer for). There's no warning given. It's not really a "shut down" but hard to describe, it just stops, the screen turns grey (not black) as though it is restarting but nothing happens, no mouse pointer shows and it doesn't respond to any keys, all the keyboard backlighting stays on. The fans have been cleaned and they are not running when the problem happens so I doubt it is over-heating (and I think it would fully power-off if this were the issue). The only thing I can do is hold down the power button until it switches off and then it will restart without problem. All the diagnostics run without issue. The only thing I've changed on it recently is to load Norton 360. Any suggestions what this could be or what I can try? Many Thanks Ian

If you have any overclocks on your card/s, return them back to stock speeds. Also use GPU-Z and log temps to a file to see what temps the card is hitting when the PC freezes. Its most likely the GPU causing the problem since it seems its cutting the signal to the screen for some reason.
