Unsupported Word file type.

I have followed the directions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316951 and every time I attempt to open up the file in Word 2010 it tells me:

"Microsoft Word cannot open this file because it is an unsupported file type."

I am curious as to how to follow the steps in the KB article if they don't work. This is on more than one .asd file.

Please read carefully what it says for Word 2010 on the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316951 page...
.asd files were used in Word 2007, for Word 2010:
And I quote:
Word 2010

On the File menu, click Recent.

 Click Recover Unsaved Documents.

So I can only conclude that .asd files are NOT handled by Word 2010.

I think in this case you should use Recovery Toolbox. Maybe something happens to restore. http://www.oemailrecovery.com/word_repair.html

Whenever a Word document becomes corrupt due to any reason, users must try the manual tricks shared in this blog post - http://wordpress.semnaitik.com/2013/10/24/repair-word-document-manually/

You'll find some manual tricks in the above blog post which are easy and effective. So before you can purchase any paid software, you must try to repair Word file manually. I hope the shared information would be helpful here.

Thanks.
