  1. So the HD4000 is permanently disabled? That's very odd. I was not aware of manufacturers still doing that since it can be used to extend battery life. Are you absolutely certain that it is disabled?

If it is then it will be difficult to get good eGPU performance, especially on internal LCD.

    @Quadrider10

No it's really only 3dm06 that performs terrible for nvidia compared to ati/amd, so don't switch cards. Still looking into your

Albright kool thabks! I have a 6770 and that one gave me a higher wie score then the gtx did

  2. 2 things, 1 o dont have optimus, and 2 its detecting that because i did not close the program before i plugged it in. i just re ran it, and now its saying same score, but it reconnizes my eGPU as the GTX.

so why are mine incredibly low compared to yours?

would you be able to disable optimus and run a 3dmark06 benchmark so i can compare?

  3. I'm running PCI-E 1.1 x1 with Optimus, so basically Opt1.1.

Now I don't remember what framerates I got, but definitely sat at 40-60 fps at all times (V-sync enabled, so max 60; would dip to say 40 during really intense scenes with lots of smoke and objects)

    single player or multiplayer?

  4. odd, my GPU is definitely not as good as the gtx 560 ti, but I get good performance out of cod:mw2.

have you made sure that you set the performance in the nvidia control panel from "adaptive" to "performance"? it might help a little bit

ive set EVERYTHING i can to performance. nothing helps. you are running pci 1.0 x1 speeds? also do u have optimus?

this is not fair! why does mine suck so much.ive tried it on both 6770 and gtx 560 with the same results. no better gaming experience...

I get a whopping 15-20 fps in mw2 occasional spike to 40 or 60fps. rare tho

The PE4H runs pci-e 1.1 just fine. When I used a PE4H I was getting 22-24% PCI-E overclocks before I got instability. Maybe a PE4L could have gone, higher, but that was already pretty good.

Post your PLL number and I'll see if it can overclock.

    thank you!

  5. Not sure about the PE4H not running at 1.0 speeds, I thought it was but since you only have a PCIe 1.0 slot on your laptop I don't think the PE4L would help much since you can't use Gen 2 speeds.

Just wondering too, what is your setup at the moment? Like CPU and eGPU? Maybe your CPU is too slow?

I don't have Farcry 3 to try but I tried Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and it's playable but I only get about 30-40 fps. Not sure why since I can run newer games pretty well. Maybe there is some fix for those types of games?

i have a few games thT play really good

    dirt3

    bfbc2

    games that play ok

    black ops

    farcry 3

    battlefield 3

    games that suck

    modern warfare 2

    world at war

    forsaken world

    modern warfare

    test drive unlimited 2

like i said before, no matter what i make r\the resolution or graphic settings, it dosent help

the only games that do make difference is bfbc2 and dirt 3

  6. @Khenglish

what do you mean? i have my PLL number if you need that.

alright so i am ONLY capaible of running at PCI 1.0 but i hear that the PE4H is not even running at PCI 1.0 speeds and that its like crippled.

i thought that getting the PE4L will fix that problem. a lot of games that i play lag quite a bit including farcry 3 which i love a lot.

no matter how much i Overclock the GPU, turn down the graphic settings, etc, i always get the same FPS in most games.

so with that in mind, would getting the PE4L increase my performance at all with a GTX 560 Ti OC GPU?

  7. so my notebook is only applicable of PCI 1.0 x1 speeds. optimus is not available to me. im in contact with redtrontech on ebay to see if i can get an exchange for my pe4h to his pe4l. but with the pe4l and a gtx 560Ti OC edition, how much of an increase of bandwidth will i receive about?

because as of now, i can not even play call of duty it lags so much regardless of graphic settings.

    this is what i mean:

also how do i go about Overclocking my FSB to get more pci bandwidth? i have found my PLL, but setfsb and clockgen do not support it. what can i do?

  8. Short answer: yes. However, I don't know by how much.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I suspect that I am getting about 90-95% of my GTX 650 Ti's full performance as if I had it in a PCI-E 3.0 compatible desktop system. I got to this conclusion, subjectively, by running games that I own which were used for benchmarks when the 650 Ti came out around Oct 2012. Some games I got roughly the same framerates (i.e. 100%), other games I got slightly less (around 90%). Most games were in between.

I'm able to run most games on medium to high settings at 1920x1080. I always disable anti-aliasing and DX11 features, though. I prefer a smooth experience over fancy bells and whistles.

i cant even play call of duty with mine. and you are on pci 1.0 x1 speeds with optimus?

also how can i go about overclocking my FSB, i found my pll, but i can not find a program that will support it

  9. Correct, if you have a GPU that can handily pump out little pixels at a very high rate (say something like a GTX 660 Ti or AMD 7970) then you will see a benefit to the PE4L. But if your GPU, like mine, is only mid-range, you might not see that much more of an improvement.

Personally, I would still like to upgrade to a PE4L, but I want to offload my PE4H first. No point in spending an extra $90 (70+shipping) if I will just have this PE4H sitting around unused.

well damn if i knew that...... i have a gtx 560ti OC edition. do you think there would be a difference?

  10. I made that mistake too, but I'm still hanging on to it. So far, I haven't come across a situation where I would receive a drastic performance improvement by switching to a PE4L, except with recording games while playing. I think I'm getting just about all I can get out of a GTX 650 Ti anyways.

The PE4H was supposed to be Gen 2 compatible, but after further testing other users found out that it's not true. I'm not sure waht the full details behind it are, but I can tell you that a general rule so far has been that unless all the parts are soldered together, it's likely not Gen 2 compatible.

well that sucks. so there would be no performance difference between pe4h or pe4l when on pci 1.0/1.1?

  11. Like I mentioned in my post, PE4H v2.4 is limited to Gen 1 speeds only... so you won't get the same level of performance as compared to a PE4L

well thats f-ing retarded! why the hell did i buy a pe4h thats more expansive then the pe4l thats cheaper and supports more?!?!?!

  12. @Robert Garland

The reason why I started with the LED, it's simple to find the Problem. In my case, the red LED shine only, if my X220 is turn off, but the PE4L with the GPU is connected. If I start my X220 the red LED terminated. Have you tested your Expresscard Slot? If your System started with the eGPU, detect your System the GPU?

    @Quadrider10

Yes, I OC only my GPU. But if you OC the FSB, I would be happy If you can report how you did it.

i have to take appart my MOBO and see what kind i have. but im going to try and use a program called "SetFSB"

what PCI link do you have? what resolution do you game on and do u get any lag at all?

  13. i found this on dell website

"The WWAN card slot on the Studio™ 1457/1458 system is located on the bottom Left hand corner underneath the base plate. Use this slot for WWAN cards only. WLAN cards do not work in this slot and should not be installed here."

is there anything else i can do as far as increase bandwidth? ive already set everything to performance in nvidia control pannel, and set color to 16bit, and using modded drivers. im sick of only being able to play 2 games with the eGPU. like i want to at least be able to play call of duty.....

can i combine ports 1 and 2 for x2 or x1E or something like that? i dont use the Ethernet and never have since i bought my computer....

    check this out......

this is what i was trying to solve. ALL call of duty games lag like crazy, but dirt 3 and BFBC2 are completely playable on high settings....?

  14. ok so after some testing, here is what i come up with.... i got my gtx to work when i plug it into the WLAN port on my laptop. it installed fine and everything. however, i can not get anything to work on the WWAN port. whether i plug in the eGPU or the wifi card, it does not detect it. however i can plug in the PE4H into it via PM3N and then a USB thumb driv into that. it will detect the usb.....

so now what? my Express card slot is port 2 and my wifi card is port 3. my Ethernet port is port 1 i would imagine that the WWAN is port 4. i dont use Ethernet, but i would like to still have my wifi working since i play online games only.
