currently on the highway to home.... when i´m there i will let ya know if its monitored somewhere... xD
-
800 on the core is the max in NV inspector and 770 in Afterburner... in NV Inspector you can go higher but when you hit apply it will go back to 790 on core... thats the reason, why i not looked for a hardmod on the mainboard...
-
Ok... will try if I (or any other person I know) can do anything... I dont have dissasembled the M14X yet because its useless... I´m sure you can raise the Voltage of the GPU VR via Hardmod... there is always a VR and so the possibility to hardmod. but its useless because of the clock lockinging of the GPU
-
I cant see attachment... will have a look in the rom if you up it... thx a lot
-
i´m interested... cant wait... will flash it now an report... xD
====EDIT====
Okay the BIOS is unlocked.... so far so good... more feautures to select.
The BCKL is locked at 103 (as before). I really apreciate the work but
its useless for things I want to do...
-) overclock the CPU over 103 BCKL
-) overclock the NV GPU over 790 (also locked)
we will see... maybe its the next step and someone can post it in the moders forum

oh good news to hear... will give it a try....
-
nice work.... ! I´m also very tired of hearing that the 555 is lame... I´m very satisfied with its performance... am I allowed to post some benchmark results in your thread ???
-
The main problem is the limitation of the clock @ 800 and the Voltage lock on 0,852 V.
If it would be possible to give the core more than 0,852 V then it would be possible to push over the 750 @ core. Temps are no problem.

no you´re not OLD... xD I have a lot of so called "oldies" on my Alienware (UT3, CS1.6, HL2) I Love this games and they have very high FPS. Also I want to say that I´m not that kind of "FPS Junkie" Most games are playable from 27FPS upwards.
BUT (and yes... this BUT have a dedicated space in this Post)
I don´t understand why it is necessary to lock the GPU and CPU. I´m interessted in maxing out my system, I want to test settings and show what is possible to bang out the hell of that m14x. I don´t need this for playing games.. I only want to know. And I don´t understand why I pay a lot of money for that notebook, only to be a "guest" on my own System and on my own BIOS (You can laugh... but I feel so). I want my systems fully controlled.... by ME because I paid for it)
I hope you understand what I mean...

I´m currently coding in assembler with the PIC Kit2 for my evening school (electrical engineering) but honestly... I think I wont be able to modify a BIOS that way... xD

Thank ya... hopefully someone will help us...xD

First I want to say sorry because I wasn't able to post some in game videos of dirt3 yet. Time isn't on my side but I will post them on the weekend...
As an old liquid nitrogen overclocker I want to say something:
CPU's (intel) are build for temps around 74 degrees under load. Everything above will damage the cpu and result in slowing down processes. In my opinion the m14x has a really strong (and loud) fan. I never had temps over 71 degrees. alienware should remove the bios lock of the nv gpu so it will be possible to clock over 800 on the core... you can raise the core over that mark. But you never get more than 800 because vof its oc protection. Also they should allow to give the nv gpu a little bit of extra voltage. The gpu isn't on its limit... its far away from that...
The next thing is the so called overclocking tab in bios... cmon guys... 3 MHz extra on the bus resulting in 40 MHz cpu speed... that's really a shame...
There is so much power in that laptop and we are not able to use it in games...

ok will give it a try... currently working to fix my Debian Linux on m14x... (no Ethernet, no WLAN, no Optimus), when i´m finished with that I record the videos

no problem... will do that... xD
-
Yeah but it´s possible do get more performance than this... this locked BIOS is resposible for sleepless nights... do you know a good program where i am able to make ingame videos ?? or i have to do it with my digicam... ?

thanks steve... xD

ok will post them tomorow or in 2 days... np

is there a way to flash back ? Or better Question: Can someone upload the A01 BIOS ?? On Dell Website only the A03 is shown. I would like to have a backup of A01

time will tell... its a new product... let them work on it... (but i still think its really a shame that in the bios update is no fan change)
-
updated today... no problems... but there a only 4 fixes:
01.> Modify when playing games, system would shutdown in DC mode.
02.> Fix DTM test fail solution(ACPI driver resume time).
03.> Update NV VBios for Samsung 128Mx16.
04.> Fix FFS no function when resume from S3 with ATA mode.
as said... my A03 works fine !

That would be great... Have someone asked them about the M14X Bios ???
-
yeah but the question is: Is the BIOS of the GPU integrated in the System BIOS ?? I don´t think so... normally the GPU has it´s own bios and you can simple download it in GPU-Z... but GPU-Z only shows a BIOS for the INTEL GPU... and this one is locked so you can´t extract it from the CHIP...
-
ok, i will dissasemle the notebook after the weekend and have a look at it... No VR ??? that seems strange to me... I also want to have a look at the BIOS.... is there a way to extract it ?? can somebody explain me how to do that... ??

as i thought.... xD NV Inspector shows on every stage 0,812. Seems that the NV GPU is not using dynamic Voltages in the 3 different performance settings...
