  1. Everyone's "stock" BIOS is different because it contains your Windows activation, Lenovo serial number, and UUID. I'd suggest contacting svl7, maybe he's got a way for you to return to stock from your modified BIOS even though you've lost your original backup.

Thanks, good news is I believe I've found my backups so about to try and flash it back...

    Knock on wood....

  2. But even with 310.90 still have to use the .bat files to force P-states which is a really cumbersome way to overclock since you have to manually switch to the lower power states or else you're running at full clocks and voltage 24/7

Not cumbersome at all if you setup a couple of simple batch files :)

One to force pstate and set clocks, one to revert back to defaults. Then just slap a short cut to your taskbar or start menu and you're set, one click on or off.

Disappointing to hear that on the SLI bit, but could be worse, still a smoking laptop either way with the older drives +OC or newer driver and minimal OC

  3. Thanks for the info. Man that sucks. The Ultrabay GPU is basically limiting the performance of main GPU then. The core on this GPU can go so much higher than +135 MHz.

Well there is an alternative. For whatever reason, with Nvidia Inspector and the 310.90 drivers, the +135 limit did not seem to be an issue (stock BIOS, haven't tried w/ modded).

I was able to get up to 1,100mhz on each core and had not yet reached the limit. The only drawback is you obviously don't have the newest drivers, which have some additional tweaks for some of the newer games (Farcry 3, Bioshock, etc...). That said, I'm not so sure the driver improvements offset the overclock performance.

Knock on wood SVL7 will come up with some genius to allow us to have the best of both worlds :D

  4. Hey LewsTherin05, when you attempted to overclock both cards did you adjust their clocks separately or sync them? I know that in SLI one of them is the "master" card and the other is the "slave" card. I thought that if you sync them the clocks on the slave card will always match those of the master. So even though the +135 limit hasn't been unlocked on the second GPU shouldn't it still be able to bypass that as long as it has been unlocked on the first GPU? Have you tried using MSI Afterburner?

Let me know if I'm way off-base because I haven't flashed to modded 2.02 yet, just waiting on the outcome of this whole thing.

I've tried separately and synced, did not seem to make a difference.

The master will easily exceed the +135 limit, but the second card caps at the 135 limit.

I've tried both NV Inspector and MSI Afterburner

  5. svl7,

I did notice one "problem" with the vbios after spending a little more time with it. It looks like it only flashed on the first card.

I can overclock card 0 as high as I like, but card 1 caps at 924 (+135).

In NvidiaInspector, Card 0 shows a modified bios as expected, but card 1 shows stock.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks again, everything else looks solid.

  6. Hey guys, even after flashing the unlocked V1.05 Bios, I still can't go past stock clocks on my GT650M SLI? Anyone have any idea on why this would be?

What are you using to overclock and what nvidia drivers?

I've only had success with the 310.90 drivers and Nvidia Inspector

  7. I've only had success overclocking on the 310.90 drivers so far.

I'm running 1100mhz on the core at the moment without any issue and only a minimal increase in GPU temp.

This gave me another +3500 P score in Vantage and I saw a noticeable improvement gaming.

Looks like it will go higher, I'll likely play with it more this weekend and toy with the memory clocks.

  8. FYI I am able to overclock my sli gt650's by forcing nvidia inspector (.bat script) to 980 MHz on the 310.9 stock bios but when I install the new 314.22 it maxes out at 924 MHz. Is this usual behavior on the y500? Note I have not flashed to the custom vbios discussed in this thread but I too look forward to seeing a 2.0 custom version. I am afraid to flash it to the 1.5 version if that is even possible. Bioshock Infinite does run smoother on Ultra setting (1920x1080)and with out micro-stutters on 314.22 30-60 fps.

Any chance you could share your BAT files for 314.22?

I've not had any luck with Nvidia Inspector, still limited to 790mhz
