    As you can see on 99% im running at 3.19mhz 4 cores:(and at 45-50% on 3.49mhz)[ATTACH=CONFIG]9040[/ATTACH]here is the 3dmark11 result:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4800MQ,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1763

    Tbh, i cant see any throttling issues in here..

    Unless ofcourse this algorithm changed in Haswell.. In Ivy bridge, While working on 4 cores the processor would normally run at 3.19 Ghz, on 2 cores it can max at 3.29 Ghz and at 1 core, it can max out at 3.39 Ghz..

    Same is the case with you, while benchmarking your CPU runs at 3.19 Ghz, using all cores, and without that it runs at 3.49 ghz on 1 core.

    Its normal and I cant really see throttling in there, the issue should be elsewhere, i will search to see if Haswell has this feature too. But anyways i will check EC/BIOS but to be sure if anyone else can verify this because i dont see any signs of throttling.

    Edit: I checked and saw this "with Turbo Boost up to 3.5 GHz (for 4 active cores), 3.6 GHz (for 2 active cores) and 3.7 GHz (for 1 active core)." so basically you are running at lower clocks for all processor states..

    Can you try Ticking "Clock modulation' and 'chipset modulation' to 100% too? In Throttlestop, and do try both versions.. meanwhile i posted for latest EC/BIOS, do you know your current EC/BIOS, post version numbers here

  2. I will go have a look meanwhile if you can provide a screenshot from Intel XTU, it can atleast show that throttling is from EC/BIOS.. Throttlestop should work in almost all cases but lets see if there are any updates.

    Can you give me your current EC/BIOS full name? its needed.

  3. Hey buddy:) yea I have the ms-1763 barebone just like GT-70 2OD.do you think is bios-ec problem?also I use a modded dell slim psu 240w.thanks man. I also tried the throttlestop 6 with no good results:(

    Do you have Intel XTU and MSI Afterburner? Right after benchmarking if you can read the Intel XTU CPU frequency graph, if your Processor is throttling then it can make sure. Otherwise a 240W PSU should be more then enough.. i will go ask someone for BIOS/EC updates but meanwhile if only your processor is downclocking then Throttlestop should stop it, Did you untick BD-PROCHOT and ticked multiplier to turbo and Turned on throttlestop? Just untick everything and only tick EIST and Multiplier.

  4. By the way just wanted to ask, are you on GT70 2OD? or similar?

    I heard they have this issue of limited power from PSU when overclocking and it starts draining battery to fulfill the power needs?

    If that is the case, i am not so sure that Throttlestop will work.

  6. Hey, try using Throttlestop, it solved my downclocking issue

    Uncheck BD PROCHOT and set multiplier to turbo and turn on, that should get you rid of downclocking, not so sure about physics score

    however after i run some light 3d application or anything that uses nvidia GPU, it switches to p-state 8 and lowers clocks.

    this is crazy because my battery life gets half when i am running nothing, so i always have to keep something on like nvidiainspector or google chrome or something that uses gpu.

    this happened after i flashed vbios to unlock my 680m, vBios versions were exactly same

    any suggestions on how to solve this from root? instead of forcing pstates

    update: basically its running at 771 (default) core clock @ p0 when nothing is running, if i start chrome it goes to p8 etc.

    in games it goes to p0 but at overclocked core clock of 850 mhz..

    my issue is why does it run on 771 mhz when there is zero applications running? :) Thanks for any help @svl7

  8. I had this issue some days ago, my task manager showed my disk usage at 100%.. while my read/write speed was in KBs yes like 500 KBs/900 KBs and full 100% usage..

    after monitoring it for a while, i realized that there is often some sort of system task doing something that causes it, after a while i did disk cleanup and it took like an hour or two just to cleanup 4 gb on windows update files..

    i disabled Windows defender and installed Nod32 instead. and my issue is gone.

    your issue might be related to this, but its not your harddisk at fault, its windows 8.

    try disabling windows defender if you are using that.

  10. Thank you, i had no idea about this option ( i though only save changes and restart or dont save changes and exit options were there ) however i will check later today to see if there is an option of shutting down

Sorry i had no idea about the different between CMOS and EC, i knew CMOS controls clock and things and EC controls power and fan, been searching for last 1 month trying to solve this CPU Throttling i have read weird things, even CMOS and EC reset, was justn trying to ask about EC, how will you reset EC right after flashing? you need to boot into windows to shut down?

  12. I have a few questions, can someone answer?

    1. what does update.bat file contains? i downloaded a bios from msi website and it had flash.bat, i opened with text editor and it showed " AFUDOS.exe bios.version(not .rom) /blah /blah (5 parameters)" bios name doesn't have .rom there, can someone verify?

    2. After BIOS is flashed and dos is returned, should i hit CTRL ALT DEL to restart? how do i shut it down? since i need to shut it down to reset CMOS, do i have to start windows to shut it down?

  13. MSI Afterburner, has everything you need, but on default vbios you have limited overclocking available, core is often locked on MSI cards, memory can go +350

    Using a custom vbios you can go higher, By the way overvolting may reduce life itself, since it leads to more heat and higher temperatures,

    when i overclocked, i pushed memory direct to +400 and core to +50, since this is a normal overclock, small increments only matter when you are pushing the card to its limits, so if at anytime a bsod or artifacts occur, you can change back a bit.

  14. Guys im having this severe CPU throttle issue in games, there is random CPU frequency drop to 1.2 ghz.. im on 1762 barebone 3630qm with 680m.

    I heard GT70's had this once and some beta EC solved it, but im on a barebone and that beta EC won't work for me.

    Do you think this BIOS will help?

    im currently on E1762IG6.70U and EC is 1762EG62 Ver 5.02

    What should i do?

  15. Ok After alot of testing, i can't figure out what's causing this, however i can understand what's happening.

    I can downclock my GPU on core, but whatever i do, im unable to exceed max default clock set by GPU vBios, the vBios my friend gave me has 812 mhz on core as default set by vBios, and i can get to 812 mhz.

    But other weird part is that my GPU is sometimes running on 797 mhz and sometimes 812 mhz. just now i realized that if i overclock my GPU by +15, it will now always run on 812 mhz but it won't exceed that.

    Possible solution is having a vBios that have high stock clocks, then after flashing i can downclock them to my own liking.

    However 1 question i really need answer to and only you can answer it :)

    what max clocks can i reach on default voltage. which i believe is 0.900?

    But i don't want to overvolt as it increases temps and probably reduces life of GPU

    Edit : Update:

    I m having a weird problem now. my GPU is constantly running at 812 mhz and 2200 mhz memory with nothing running at all.. MSI afterburner is showing constant 810 mhz and 2198 mhz regardless of it being on battery or plugged in. so its affecting battery timing aswell now..

    However when i run a program like GPU shark or Nvidia Inspector, my clocks go down to 135 and 324 respectively, however as soon as i close them my clocks are again back on max regardless of any usage.

    and when i run games, the clocks are at 797 mhz and 2198 mhz constantly. i didn't change any setting at all as i was waiting for your reply.

    This is getting so weird. its not even normal. are Performance states f***ed up?

  16. My stock vbios was same version as the one provided by you with unlocked clocks, because when it asked me to replace this with that, the version numbers were same.

    I have no idea whether my BIOS is latest because MSI doesn't really provide BIOS for barebones, i can ask my manufacturer for latest one but only if you are certain that it's a BIOS related issue, because flashing a BIOS is last thing i want to do considering its risk.

    Is it possible you can give me same vBios but with adjusted clocks, for e.g clocks already at 850 mhz core and 2200 mhz memory? even with locked clocks it will run at stock :disturbed:

    Edit : I also want to state that whenever i change my clocks and press Apply in MSI Afterburner, the clocks in my GPU-Z shows the change, however my Afterburner still shows core running at default.

  17. Hello, i have this MSI barebone 1762, i was using 314.22 drivers as they are most stable.

    I decided to flash svl's custom vbios to unlock my clocks, however even after a successful flash my clocks are still locked and i can't change them,

    Although before the flash my Core clock used to run at 758mhz and after the flash, it was running at 771mhz, but locked.

    To test whether it was a vbios related problem, my friend gave me some custom vbios i flashed, it had default 812 mhz clock on core and 2200 mhz on memory. i flashed it and it was weird that i was now running on 797 mhz and clocks were still locked and i could not change them..

    i thought maybe its a driver issue, so i performed a clean install of 320.49 drivers now and now core clock is running at 812mhz as it should be, however clocks are still locked regardless of which vbios i use, i want to use svl's bios that unlocks everything so i can adjust as i want to. but anyone know what's going on?

  18. Hello guys, what do you think is the safe overclocking limit for GTX 680m? i know its different for every notebook but there must be a safe limit in typical conditions.
