thanks for taking the time out of your day to respond. Unfortunately (again), this didn't work.  Is this a bios pulled from the manufacture website? or a dump you got somewhere? From my understanding, the bios files on the website do not have the required sectors to flash and it needs to be a dump from the same model. If its the former then I guess i need to keep looking. if its the latter then I guess im screwed.

Ok. Try to use this bios dump:  https://files.fm/u/gkqunrbr

Download and extract archive GL502VT_2.rar (in attachment).

Step 1. Run AFUWIN (AFUWINGUI) and go to "Open" and locate the bios file GL502VT_2.bin

Step 2. On the Setup tab of AFUWIN, check only these boxes: "Do Not Check ROM ID" and "Non Critical Block 2". Uncheck all others boxes. Then click on "Flash".

Step 3. Once the process has completed successfully, simply close AFUWIN and restart your system.
Done, now your KB backlights should work again.

A part of my BIOS got corrupted that controls my laptops backlights. Other methods like the Gary Key fix did not work for me because I do not get any light up during post. i followed this guide  that says I need to extract and use the 6MB portion of an 8MB bios dump, only AFUWIN tells me "Error, ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size which is because my laptop BIOS size is only 5.87MB.  I don't need to flash the whole BIOS, I only need to flash a portion of it.

I've searched everywhere online for a dump of my laptop model but non exist that I know of.

    Try this procedure:

Download and extract AFUWIN v3.05.04 (in attachment).

Download and extract archive GL502VT.rar (in attachment).

Step 1. Run AFUWIN (AFUWINGUI) and go to "Open" and locate the bios file GL502VT.bin

Step 2. On the Setup tab of AFUWIN, check only these boxes: "Do Not Check ROM ID" and "Non Critical Block 2". Uncheck all others boxes. Then click on "Flash".

Step 3. Once the process has completed successfully, simply close AFUWIN and restart your system.

Thanks for responding! Unfortunately, this didn't work either. It seems that it only works if your keyboard already lights up during post.

Edit: I found this thread but im not sure that I fully understand it

Ok, in this case try this procedure:

Download and extract AFUWIN v3.05.04 (in attachment).

Download and extract archive GL502VT.rar (in attachment).

Step 1. Run AFUWIN (AFUWINGUI) and go to "Open" and locate the bios file GL502VT.bin

Step 2. On the Setup tab of AFUWIN, check only these boxes: "Do Not Check ROM ID" and "Non Critical Block 2". Uncheck all others boxes. Then click on "Flash".

Hi Klem, I wrote you some time ago, but maybe I didn't explain myself well and now I'm confused about my GTX 960M gpu, so I ask you again, if I can do something to unlock clock frequencies beyond +133mhz or memory that does not exceed +144mhz in overclocking because it crashes immediately.
    Thanks I await your response.

    Hi!

I already answered you, it's not a bios limitation. It's means that memory type on your Nvidia card can't overclock more than +140 MHz. Because on your card soldered Elpida memory chips.

Samsung memory chips can overclock much more. Hynix and Micron memory chips also maybe can overclock more than Elpida, but low than Samsung chips.

Hello, does anyone else have the unlocked bios a13?

    Hi!

You can download already unlocked A13 bios from the first post of this thread. If you can't download it, then just read the "User Account Promotion Rules":  https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/announcement/4-user-account-promotion-rules-read-before-posting/

can be unlocked BIOS version A16?

Yes, bios A16 can be unlocked also.

You can post here or send me your file backup of bios in PM.  For creating backup of bios you can use attached backup tool. Extract attached archive directly on the Desktop and run  backup tool as Administrator (right click mouse, choice "Run as Administrator). Backup tool will create archive "results" directly on the Desktop. Post here or send me this archive "results" via PM, or upload it into any fileserver and send me the link.

I fiddled around with modding my laptops BIOS to unlock XMP profiles and hopefully seeing if optimus could be disabled. After flashing my modded bios and trying it out, I noticed that my keyboards backlight no longer turns on. I was unaware it requires an official BIOS to function. They backlights wont turn on unless ASUS ATK package is installed but now it seems it also needs an official BIOS?

The modded ROM and tool I used if anyone has any experience with this and doesn't mind telling me what to enable/disable, or anything else i can do to re-enable them

    Hi!

    Try this:  https://files.fm/u/xvpavb2p

    Instruction included in archive.

Hi, are you still doing x240 bios mods?

    Hi!

Yes, if you want, I can unlock hidden advanced menu in your bios, also I can unlock WWAN and WLAN whitelist.

I'd like to have my bios unlocked as i changed to larger SSD and it is no longer booting.  Thanks

I think your problem doesn't related with bios, so unlocked hidden advanced menu and unlocked WWAN and WLAN whitelist can't solve your issue.

Can you confirm that once I download the bios and flash it properly, I should be able to make the necessary changes in the advanced settings of the bios menu to fix the fan speed issue?

No, there is no BIOS on this forum with the settings you need unlocked.

But if you want, I can prepare BIOS with the settings you need unlocked. In this case I will need your file bios backup, from your laptop.

My Msi Gt-70  suddenly died as well last week.  After removing the video GPU card it started up with no problems except it now had the previously mentioned  100% fan speed problem.

I wonder if the failure was really the GPU card or the GPU card socket.  I unfortunately do not have any way to insert another card to test the socket or install the old GPU card into another MSi laptop.

    Hi!

In your case, to solve mentioned  100% fan speed problem, you need to unlock hidden Advanced settings in bios setup menu, and then switch GPU from discrete to Intel integrated.
