lol +400 over original core and +700 over original memory... how long do u think our laptops will last with proper cooling/whatnot's lol I'd say 1.5 year tops..

btw ya I'm really scared I might break something when i try to take it apart... i'm screwed and none of my friends are techies..

1300 mhz gpu and 3125 mhz mem.. but i'm running gpu at 1250 mhz and mem at 3125 mhz for maximum stability... just want a bit more voltage, so that these clocks are even stable for future

it would be nice, if these clocks are set in bios

i know that the temps will increase... but I still have the option to re-apply the thermal-paste

my max was 1250 core/2900 memory and got 3,43* on 3dmark 11 and 13,000 3dmark vantage.

btw you were able to dismantle the y580 and re-apply fresh thermal paste on both CPU/GPU's.

I am afraid to take my apart as I have no experience in laptop hardware especially one that's soo tucked in tight.. lol u had to remove the keyboard right?

Hey guys, whenever I change the energy management to the 'Lenovo Dynamic Graphics' and play a game, it just freezes after a few minutes every time.

This didn't happen prior to flashing the unlocked 8.01 BIOS.

Is anyone else also having this issue?

I uinstalled the program lenovo dynamic graphics.. I find it useless and balance or high performance is already enough. not sure if this will help but it's worth a try!

Yeah, just swapped the cards.

I didn't bother testing the stock wifi card at all, so I don't have any data on signal increase or lower pings. AFAIK, the Intel 6300 is typically better than most Atheros cards, which is what I believe came in our units.

I'm on a 12 MBS connection from uverse and getting like 40ping through google.. on my old 3mb connection I would get under 20ms. lol haha

Yes. Works flawlessly for me. I did purchase a third antenna a while back when I used the 6300 on a previous laptop.

When I run 3dmark11 and vantage I'm suppose to use CPU has my physics right? I'm a little worried as to why I'm not scoring 22,000 on my cpu for 3d mark vantage when i run both the gpu/cpu test.

I also get around 17,800 points in 3D MARK VANTAGE when I run both GPU/CPU TEST but when i run CPU TEST ALONE IT goes back to 22,0XX

yeah 1000 mhz is good enough for the first

if you want to overclock use a program like msi afterburner..

the core can easily handle 1200mhz without more voltage.. and 1400mhz mem also works with the stock voltage

i had a bit newer version... v2.07 .. but that doesn't matter. yes, i also used the 2.0x one...

thats right, you just extract the files and run ''InsydeFlash.exe''... pretty easy..

but close all other programs before starting

the flash goes really fast, maximum 1 minute long...

i extract onto my desktop. run the inysdeflash.exe and restart when finish?

How is that your GPU-Z shows CUDA and DirectCompute checked and PhysX unchecked?

I will be using the 2.0 method not the 8.01 right?

Do u recommend me to update my bios on lenovo's website then flash with your with mod or can i direct use your 2.0 mod?

I am very new to flashing/bios/overclocking limits.

I have a Lenovo Y580 Model 209942U

I have attached pictures of my current GPU and DXDIAG (it has the latest nvidia drivers). If i am correct, when I flash, I will be using my DXDIAG which shows 03.71.515DCN38WW(V.205).

I never flashed a bios before.. Can someone please show me step by step without bricking my laptop. I really want to stable MHZ on both and I have a aftermarket laptop cooler as well. I normally use EVGA or nvidia inspector with 1085mhz core and 2800 mhz memory.

Can anyone please help? I will be very grateful!!
