  1. I can give you guys the code, that's easy, but it won't help you.

You can't port it, trust me. Or more correctly, you can but the hassle is so much that you're better off writing it from scratch...

Basically you need to start off with the stock clevo app and add parts from my new project with the Milight lamps...

If anyone with the skill is interested i can help him out.

  2. I've taken a look at the new hotkey driver.

I have good news and bad news.

The good is that Clevo finally decided to make a proper backlight controller for their keyboards. It supports RGB colors instead of just the 8 we had. The keyboard color changer software is probably still a bit beta but it's on the right path.

The bad news is that my controller requires major rewrite to work with these new keyboards. It's probably not going to happen because i have neither the time nor a new machine to do the tests on.

  3. to continue my problem from before. everything installs ok. app is running in processes however i cant get the settings in the app to open. i dont see the skin or theme come up and nothing in the crash log. .net is updated to the latest p170sm-a model with prema mod bios installed.

    in the meanwhile do this:

    open the event log viewer.

Go to applications log and find these 2: "outlog" and "powerbiosserverlog".

right click on them and select "save all events as".

save them and send them over to have a look

i've never tried it with hotkey v2.24.28. I suspect they changed something there. I'll take a look when i have some time

  5. @P370SM3 make sure you use the latest Hotkey App:

    CLEVO - Download

Also if you are using win 7 then that maybe the problem as it was never officially supported by Clevo on this model. Only Sager has offered an old Hot Key, which they didn't bother to update for the latest EC functions.

thanks for clearing up that mess mate.

@P370SM3: OK, try with this hotkey version and let me know how it goes. They probably haven't changed the WMI functions so if the lights work with the latest stock hotkey chances are my app will then work too

looks much better than the original

the original app is a real POS. I'm amazed they actually made such a poor job at it

  6. Just to confirm this program doesn't work on the w35xst model laptops. The LED must be only one colour, and any special effects this program can do on the light doesn't work either.

Hotkey does work to shut down the backlight when needed.

I'm afraid i don't have access to that model so it's improbable that i'll add support for it...

  7. Don't work on P170EM with Win7 x64. The latest hotkey version for this system is 6.0100 and I don't want to upgrade to Win8...

Install the windows 8 version anyway. I believe that the new hotkey for windows 8 will work on windows 7. The only difference is that the windows 8 version hides the clevo volume and brightness sliders because windows 8 have their own.

@all: About the OSD, have you tried right-clicking the tray icon and untick the K/B indicator? It is supposed to stop the OSD from showing

  8. This mod works really nice, but in assassin creed 4 the keyboard turns off instead of just showing color like normal without this driver.

Is it possible to implement a feature that if the game doesn't use the driver it goes the last colors?

assasin creed doesn't use lightFX. Are you using the adaptive color effect? If so it will only work if you run the game in windowed or borderless modes, not fullscreen. Otherwise just change the effect to a different one

  9. This is a mod for the Hotkey.exe file, it changes the stock, ugly, OSD icons to some prettier ones.

Kudos to deceptron for the original design:

    Deceptron's Alienware OSD Icons Set

Right now this will probably only work on Hotkey v.8.0.134 (the latest at the moment). I don't know if i'll do any more versions. Time permitting, and if there's a demand, I might.

    Instructions:

Kill the stock Hotkey.exe via the task manager.

Replace the stock file with mine and reboot.

  10. This worked for me initially even though Hotkey never has (desptie trying multiple versions). But the past couple of weeks every time I try to start it I get a weird error message with both english and and asian language.

    It say something like:

Exception caught: the type initializer for #$@@#@% threw an exception.

    Runtime terminating (0) true

InnerException: System.InvalidOperationExeptopm: Cannot open OutLLog on machine..

Windows has not provided an error code-->

    System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception. The interface is unknown

    ---End of inner exception---

and it goes on like that...

I've tried reinstalling several times and different versions of Hotkey.Any thoughts?

what that error message is actually saying is that the hotkey driver isn't installed or isn't functioning properly. Try installing hotkey, restart and then use this app.

If you open the event viewer and go to applications and services logs you should see "outlog" and "powerbiosserverlog" categories. These are installed by hotkey. If you don't have them something is seriously screwed on your machine.

  11. Same model, same problem.

    I tried hotkey 8.0124 and 8.0134 on BIOS 1.00.06.

Then updated to BIOS 1.03.01 with hotkey 8.0134. => Nothing changed.

But it seems that the problem is the hotkey driver, because the colours didn't work with and without custom light controller.

For all tests I used Windows 8.1 x64.

To be sure that it isn't a problem of the Windows version I will test it at the weekend and report my results asap.

If there is someone who knows a solution please let me know...

you mean you get that problem with the stock light controller? that's really weird behavior

  12. can you access the registry?

i need you to open the original ledkb and go to custom mode and set all colors to white

    Then go to registry->current_user\software\hotkey\ledkb

write down what these keys have as value:

    LEDKB_L

    LEDKB_M

    LEDKB_R

    LEDKB_TP

then close the registry(important), go to the original ledkb, set everything to black and repeat the registry step

send me both versions of the keys
